I have found out recently that You can actually use this antenna on 75 meters through a tuner and an extended antenna....! if you tune the antenna to the center of 40 meters and add a Approx 17 foot wire lead to the whip Base you can tune all of 80 and 75 meters!!! also I have tuned the middle of 30 meters... and with the same wire lead using the LDG auto tuner tuned all of the 60 meter Five u.s. channels.see my QRZ page of my vehicle with a Icom radio using this antenna and my roof rack with wire lead mounted around it.Now i have the Yeasu 857D working with the ATAS antenna.jim KB1PFL

You can also adjust the tuning using the up and down keys on the mic. I find that easier to work with. Nice video! K9EZ

Have you tried the antenna in 30m, 17m and 12m?

The ATAS is, at the time, my main antenna. 73 from Berlin - DL3RWA

I'm not sure you can use the 817 with the atas, good video, 857/897 only in think. I might be wrong. Very well presented 👍👍

Hello! Today I try the ATAS with a new magnetic foot. 175 mm Before I got the Diamond K400. Here the results with Magnetic foot, 40m 1:1,7 20m 1:1 11m 1:1 10m 1:1 6m 1:1 Everything without a special counter poise.

Very useful video, thanks. What kind of magnetic mount did you use - is that a custom adaptor you put in for the ground plane wires, or is it part of the antenna base itself? It doesn't look like it needs an electrical connection to the base?

Hi folks. Quick, probably silly question. Does the ATAS 120 receive electrical power from the coaxial cable? Prepping for an installation and want to make sure I don't need to run another power cable somewhere.

Can you still manually tune while outside ham band? (When it says atas)

This is probably a stupid question but if someone has a 857d with the ldg auto tuner would it be stupid for them to buy the ATLAS antenna? Would it be redundant?

anyone have problems getting atas to tune? I hooked everything up and my antenna doesn't mov someone said to ground it but not sure how??

Why did they discontinue this radio, but not the 817/818? I guess because it was too much radio and hurt sales of other models?

I live in a condo community. Rules against antenna, so it has to be stealth. I have a wooden deck, nothing above me. Is this antenna doeable? i live on the ground floor. Radials could be a risky maneuver, community property and any kid or adult could roam by and trip on them. Only area i could put wires is below the deck by running them through the deck floor. the deck is 12 long by 8 feet wide. Thank you.

Many thanks for video. GREAT PLUS. IMHO/ I think that antena ATAS-120A has bad effectivity, but its price is quite big. Better to use any other type of antena.

Are those 4 radials at the same length, 50cm?

You don't need radials for any band except vhf/uhf . 73s
