Greetings from Toronto, Canada. This is still valuable information 3.5 years later, thank you! I have been gifted a FT-897D for use at Scouts Canada JOTA/JOTI and while I appreciate your sage advise, "read the manual", sometimes it is comforting to watch a knowledgeable person demonstrate some basic operations. Thank you sir, and keep safe in this unusual time. 73 and Yours in Scouting. Scouter Thomas / VE3PDK
This is really great. I just got my 897D and am trying to get it on the air. I can't figure out how to check the SWR and don't want to damage the radio. Might you consider doing more on this radio? The manual doesn't give very good instructions.
The set belongs to the local scout club, and I had it for only 2 days. But I have the original video. I might reprocess it, and put circles round the buttons I was pressing. Maybe in two weeks time though. Thanks for looking.
Thanks Henry. You were up against it so. I’ll look forward to the next one if you can get it out. I think I will be getting an 879 and any help is welcome. 👍
