Hi,
This video is for entertainment only. You may destroy your radio if you try this modification.
This hardware and software modification allows the Yaesu FT-450D to transmit on all frequencies, from 1.8 MHz to 55.995 MHz. This is only for testing.
It is illegal to transmit on any frequency that you are not licensed to operate on.
And it is not recommended to leave the radio in this mode after testing.
Only one soldered jumper is removed from the control board. Then one software option is changed in the system menu.
After removing the jumper, you can use the radio's system menu to enable or disable the all-frequency transmit mode.
Disconnect radio, and remove top and bottom covers.
There are 16 screws to remove.
Take care with the speaker wire.
Remove front display panel.
Be very careful with the flat data cable. It is easy to pop out, and a pain to re-attach. You do not need to remove the cable. Mine pulled out by mistake.
The display side simply slides out, but the control board side has a hinged clip that has to be lifted before cable can be removed.
Remove heat shield. Unscrew the 6 inner screws first.
Remove jumper.
I was not able to desolder, so I used a wire cutter to bite off the ceramic jumper.
Reassemble radio.
Power on to test.
If OK....Switch off radio.
Now to change the menu option:
Hold down buttons - IPO, NB, AGC, and power on radio.
Radio boots to system menu.
Turn DSP/SEL knob to scroll to the menu item - A type.
Press F button once.
Then press NB button to change type to t.
Hold down F button for 3 seconds.
Radio will re-boot.
Now test transmitting outside am bands.
The transmit seems to be enabled unbroken along the entire frequency range of the radio.
My antenna, however, is totally inadequate for this.
Check out the other videos below on the same mod.
That's where I got my directions.
Thanks for watching.
