A very cheap china £11 clone MH-67A8J compared to a genuine MH-31A8J microphone. See how it gets on. It may surprise you. UKwww.ebay.co.uk/... seller £20
i bought a Heil HM 10/4 mic for my 450D ages ago, this is a great mic for DX, if you want a ragchew mic get the Heil HM12, buy a cheap momentry footswich to plug in to the cable on the mic, and a cheap mic stand, better than any base mic
Thanks for sharing Fred. I think they are both probably functional. I think the straight cord is better especially when in base use as it seems to have a lower profile.
OK. After some research, and comparison to the MH-31 wiring, I opened up the MH-67 and disconnected the black wire (Fast scan) from the board. Tested. Problem solved. Everything works now.
@@jdsnapp My original MH-31 mic stopped working, and the new MH-67 was locking up the panel buttons. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ot06Yjc352o.html
They should have made echo mics and called the company Somedelay. I wonder how they perform against each other when in the car. Just get a base mic, innit. There are some good mods for the yaesu mic but don't follow the youtube video. If you do it that way, don't remove the resistor you can swap the resistor for a 910 ohm and the cap just swap it for another electrolytic at 0.1uf. This gives you slightly better highs, the other mod changes filtering for both switch settings, there is something online if you google it.
A quick test between the two microphones on sideband. Seems the cheaper mic is "as good" or maybe better than the orig mic. But everyone has there own opinion of course.
Hello Fred The coiling/cable on the clone mikes, and to be honest most cheap electrical goods coming out of China can often be the only drawback with them. Much prefer the click switch type mikes too so it seems pretty good. 😆
I think the best mic on CB I used was the international relax .. everyone raved about the k40 speech processor but I didn't have any luck with that (K5NOV)
I have a few teardrops, i ended up making my own bass mic out of an old power mic wired into a goose-neck desk-lamp base. Sounded much better, i added an electret condenser mic element and a foam shield and worked a treat. Think i still have it somewhere.
Hi Fred great informative videos, is there any worry with the wiring on these mics like power going back into the radio like on the CRT 6900N at all ? Cheers.
Hi Fred, been awol for a wee while, due to what the consultant said was a minor Heart Attack. I can assure you it didn't seem Minor to me. Never mind you just carry on regardless. So I've been entertaining myself by catching up on your and Steve's videos. That is one superb rig you treated yourself to. The original mic sounded to me a bit bassy but can you ramp up the treble a bit ?, and sharpen up the audio. As Steve said it sounded like you had your head in a box, no offence Fred Lol. Thanks for the vids Fred and I hope your new rig does you well. Take care Roy.
hi fred just to say it is the body of the mic that is affecting how it sounds not the electronics of it so maybe not a good investment but if ur hapi with outcome what can i say.high tone will increase clarity but deepening base will decrease clarity. Iknow this as i have checked on my yaseau ft920. If you want cheap but good audio try an bm800 condensing mic for details on this you may contact me.gd dxing and catch u on with steve one day soon when conditionns improve.have worked all uk on 11 metres frm devon on 25 watts or less.73 frm 26cd179 73
Thanks Vernon. Yes you may have a point concerning the larger body of the cheaper mic effecting the sound. It seems that there is no hard and fast rules to microphones. People adapt and build their owns. I guess its more of what works best with which radio.
I bought a ch MH-67A8J, but when connected to the FT450D, all the panel buttons are disabled. The rotating knobs still work though. Anyone else have this problem? How to solve?
i want one of these radios. wish i could get one for closer to 450. thats about my price limit. what's a good antenna to match, mainly for 10m & 6m (only a tech atm, working on general). was thinking something like a loop antenna?
Hi. I am really not sure on the antenna for 6m ? For 10m the popular verticals are the Sirio Gain Master and the Antron 99. There are others and everyone has their favs so plenty of Google required
I saw a video where a guy uses a $1 pc headset which he has converted to fit the Yaesu. It sounded very clear. Anything goes really as long as it works.
get the md-100 yaesu its about the best one for the radio, dont get the md-200 i have been told not so good but i fail to see why that one would not work but its over 200 pounds .. jeff .. m0prf..
