Yang people can not eat any animals' hearts. The story was long ago. Each last name have their own cai.

@@nancychao-un1ue Because it's a generational curse of the Yang clan when someone killed and took the heart of a person to eat. So every Yang person from then on is forbidden to eat the heart.

The story behind it is. There was a deaf teenager. The Yang clan was doing a shamen ritual. When a cow was slaughtered and the head feet tail and hert was boiled. When it came time to use those parts. They went to go scoop those parts out. The heart was missing. So all the Yang elders and others blamed the deaf teenager. They accused him of scooping out the cow's heart and eating it. Without even checking the pot. They killed the deaf teenager and cut out his heart to replace the cows heart so the cow can be a whole for the ritual. Then came cleaning time. As someone was dumping out the pot that was used to cook the cow parts that was when they discovered cows heart. It was stuck to the bottom of the pot. So muam phuaj was not happy and so she cursed all Yang boys. There are other Hmong story tellers on youtube that tells old hmong dag neeg.

Only one way to find out if you're not a believer. My in laws are Yaj and we would always take out any hearts if they are over. We also kinda stop eating hearts as well, afraid that they might eat it by accident if they visit unannounced. They do the same for us as well.

Story of hmoob Yaj caiv plawv is a true story. Anyone know that if they caiv and if that person purposely put in the food, then that person who gave it to the yaj guy to eat will be curse. So, hopefully people will learn from this story.
