Great video, but a word of advice, do not touch the surface after cleaning, your finger print oils can hamper the bond, also it is best to clean, abrade, and clean again, then apply your tape. 3M VHB Tapes are one of my product lines at 3M.
Great video! I have looked at darn near every video available regarding Yak-Power and cannot find a single video that has the external LED's (i.e. 20" & 10") as well as an anchor trolley system. Is this coincidence or is it a one or the other situation?
Came across your video great video nice kayak it looks good but just one thing that’s confusing on your NAV lights on your porch side the NAV light is red then you have a green one beside then on the stern of your kayak you have a green light on the port side not sure if you’re running a stern light but then you’re confusing I’m coming boats I am not trying to knock your video you did a great job on everything you might wanna look into that
Great question. Per the Texas Parks and Wildlife, it’s red on the left and green on the right. I had to triple check myself because I thought it was the other way around as well. tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/boat/safety/vessel_requirements/
Chris Payne lol I use to be in USCG and I’m embarrassed if I get into night fishing I’ll look this company up. Will subscribe from one Hobie junkie to another
How are you plugging the switched sae plug of the y splitter into the control box? Because all of the control box outputs are regular sae plugs not switched.
Eric Gadson I have a color deficiency in my eyesight and red light at night makes all the colors black. With green light I can see all the shades I need to.
Awesome video .Once you inserted the wires for the front lights could you have fished them in at the same time you inserted them in the hull? I am asking as a newbie?
The green and red navigation light could be very confusing when traveling on the water for others. Especially since they’re both on at the same time. How come you did it that way?
Dude, so I have the Yak power LEDs the guy that owned it previously took the power system all I have is the AUX Jack/SAE. When I plug them in nothing happens and it blows a fuse in the battery box. Is there a specific way the AUX end has to go into the SAE. Negative/ Positive ?
Without the power system the positive and negative are not routed correctly. You should email or call the company and ask them for guidance on the easiest way to remedy.
@@ChrisPayneReviews can you post a pic of that side? I already have the Hobie trolley on my yak. I have the button lights on the bow and in the seat area. I want to add the strip lights on the side like you did but interference was my concern. My Hobie trolley is mounted above where you placed the blue tape. I have 2 guides but the lower half of the trolley cannot be in guides. My worry is that when there is something attached to the trolley like a stringer or anchor or stake out pole, the cord would snag the light.
@@jeffcarter5244 you may get some interference if you mount too far forward. Going to be a bit before I can get a pic. You could always run additional pad eyes to reduce slack near the midships.
@@ChrisPayneReviews My trolley was mounted when I got the 2019 outback. The pulleys are very far forward and aft. I had nav lights on the bow but since I am not under power, they are not legal here. I switched to blue. Have red lights in cockpit area. Yakpower spotlight (usb) and yakpower battery box with 2 10Ah lithium batteries. I have the 5 way switch with bluetooth adapter. Is green best color for lighting water and banks? If so, why?
So after installing all mine and trailering my yak to the philadelphia fish show and back some thoughts. First off and mainly the adhesive strip on the backs of the LED strips suck. I prepped the area with alcohol waited for it to dry and stuck them to the hull. They held for about two days and even then the tip would start coming unstuck. I did not put in the screws at the end to try to cut back on holes in the hull but now it is not gonna be an option.
Do you mind posting video of the kayak on the water at night? Would like to see how the lights penetrates the water. Also do you need the lights on the pockets, can you get away with just the two on the rear of the seat, do you mind just showing the difference or can I send you a DM so you can send me some pictures? I'm very interested in doing this to my hobie.
