I like your presentation style. Light-hearted comfortable "stage presence." I just watched the whole video start to finish, admittedly partially what kept me watching was to see what other funny stuff you were going to say. Good job man!
Hi Jacob, thanks for your comments and the encouragement! 💯👊 This video looks so old now, and my methods have definitely morphed. Curious to see what you think if you compared this vid and now. 😜
Thanks great review.... watched about 15 different lock reviews and this one is by far the best. One of the few that actually talk about Geofencing but I think August is one of the few companies that actually have it. Thanks
Great video - would you happen to know if these locks work directly with the echo show 10 3rd generation?? Or would I need to purchase a separate hub?? Thanks
@@gearupaaron thinking fusing a contraption to protect the top part of inner side from elements. I've been using the Eufy wifi door lock but somehow, the glass face of the exterior face is peeling off.
I'm an Apple HomeKit fan and my home is almost fully automated from all lights, A/C, LG TV, Vacuum cleaner, blinds and door locks.. except for the pedestrian gate. I've been having sleepless nights thinking of how to fix that. hahaha
Thank you so much for your great review. It was pretty straightforward. I am looking for a smart lock and the most important feature is the log access, could you please let me know if the August app for this Yale smart lock has a solid log report of ins and outs and if it also sends alerts when someone comes in? Thank you so much and appreciate your comments.
Hi José, thanks for your comment and question... Yes, the Yale does send alerts of lock status, who's locking/unlocking (and when), and keeps a log of it all. You have quite a bit of control of how much info you need to receive, too.
Great video. This smart lock was already at the topo of my list and now I think it's there to stay. The two main features I like are the key backup and the geofencing. One quick question...the Wifi module. I saw another review that said it had to be plugged in close to the lock. Is that really the case? - or does it just have to be within your wifi coverage? And if it really does have to be close, how close? Thanks.
@@gearupaaron Thanks for answering so quickly. With wifi now included, does that mean that the wifi is now running off the batteries in the door lock and will therefore drain them faster?
I totally buggered my answer - I thought your question was for another lock. Wah-wah. I'm so sorry! The wifi module IS separate and just needs to be within the range of your router. If you have a mesh system or something like that, even better. Again sorry 😔
Great information just got yourself a new subscriber🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️ I'm not Tech savvy at all and it was a little bit confused on what type of system you have to hand for it to work off of Other than that very informative
Hi Tee MMM, thanks for your support and comment, too... Really appreciate it! Are you wondering about which protocol my lock works with? If so, I just use the lock in conjunction with its August app via WiFi and BT, controlled through Google.
I was looking at this, Yale x Nest, and the 4th Gen August lock. I think this is the one I want for the automatic opening and option for keypad. How well does it work with Google assistant? Can it open with voice through Google Assistant? I can see that being a security issue.
Hi Rogerthat, it does respond to GA and can also be directly controlled in the GA app (latest update this week). What are your concerns regarding security in this case?
@@gearupaaron I am also interested in finding out how it integrates with the home hub/google home app aswell, I am trying to decide aswell between the Yale Nest and this one. I hope it integrates just aswell as the nest in the Google Home app and with the Hubs
Hey Greg and Moises, the lock integrates quite solidly with Google Home - I can view and control the lock from Google Home and also control it by voice at any time. Hope that helps!
Thank you for your support! I use a simple Lumix G85 with kit lens. Not the latest or best for vlogging, but it's serving me well plus I'm still learning! 😎
Unfortunately the door is inset about 1.5" from the frame edge, so doesn't work either. I was thinking the same thing you were while I was setting this up. 😁
Sorry, but I think you're wrong about priority. Safety of your family has nothing to do with smart locks. A dumb lock can keep you safe. A smart thermostat has a lot more daily usefulness than a smart lock.
