my 2 stroke 15 yamaha on the first shallow drive on my 350 dart quintrex with me sitting on the trany goes faster than thoughs boat, and mine has anti fowl with a bit of groath on it,
Does anyone on here realize the 30hp mariner is a 30hp yamaha, period. You look under the cowl as i have 2 of them and it says yamaha,i buy parts for a 30hp yamaha..Up to around 40hp mariners were yamaha..If a 25hp ran faster than a 30hp then the 30hp had the wrong prop or beat up prop or,as happened to me on one of the ones i have,it came from the factory with the timing reterded..I timed and its the fastest 30hp i've ever seen.
True, but the 30hp Yamaha was the heavy Yamaha 3 cylinder enduro (AFAIK) but the 25hp was the light 2-cylinder (55Kg short shaft). The 25hp engine also looked to be on a rigid where as the 30hp looked like it was on a SIB so it would need less power to win. I believe the 25 yam could win. I have one on a 13ft Aluminium rigid and it will do 30mph. There is more to a fast boat than prop size and pitches.
