Gy6 engine nxt project... ah man just finished my ped... gy6 oil sump plug was made out of some nasty alloy of sorts... used spanner on it to change oil ....omg took a lump outta the hex shape.. drip drip... 🤯 lesson learned socket only... great video...ur great keep it going
Good video MARK. YOU KNOW THE DIRECTOR IS ALWAYS CORRECT ❗️I don’t know why but over here in the US we don’t see many small CC water cooled engines most of what we see is 4 stroke air called. Thinking back over the past 60 years I have never owned a water cooled and I have owned some 25 to 30 BIKES, SCOOTERS, and MOPEDS from 50CC to 900cc KZZ900.
You know she's always right pmsl 2t were always big in the UK and not just small 50cc they did many and 250cc even a rare 500cc !! Just fun to ride and the smell of 2t just gets in your lungs!!! Odd i know but just brings back a happier time ! Take care mate 4t next week

Hey Mark, watched a few videos and your content is really helpful! Just had a question regarding my moped (2 stroke) I rebuilt it a while ago-everything but new crankshaft-and got everything running as it should, and was running great, run the new kit in for 200+ miles. But recently my bike started to loose power near full throttle, and it got worse and worse, anywhere near half throttle and the bike starts to bog and die down. I work on my own bikes, and I did change a handful of parts-new engine gaskets, new inlet manifold gaskets, new plug, new coil cap, messed with carb and other bits and bobs-but still have the issue unfortunately :/ do you have any ideas what it could be? this can happen and can be piston wear or once the head settles it might need a tighten down and a tune bud clean plug and see colour is it ac or lc ? as if ac you can take head off and check piston to see if its scored sometimes the oil pump stops and then can run dry and score it
@@marksavage when I replaced my engine gaskets I do remember there being some small marks on the piston, but there was no bad scores or damage as I could see. It’s an AC engine, good old Yamaha slider to be exact. May be worth me just replacing the piston, as that’s still a cheap option, and getting it tuned, hopefully that works! I just want to try everything before asking a bike garage, as they charge a bomb haha Thanks for the quick reply Mark!
Hi Mark. How do I find out what the torque specs are for all bolts on Aerox. I’m new to all this so tried looking for it on the internet and can’t find anything but didn’t want to presume that just tightening bolts till they are tight is safe. Thanks
Hi Mark. I think that there is a common issue with the new Aerox 4T EU4 2020 with its speed and power. On the flat they are ok, but once you start going up a hill , What would you recommend to do to get a bit of extra power. Remember that these cut off at 50kmh. Thanks for the feedback
This is why I like the older ones as you can play and upgrade The newer they are cdi restricted to So you can change lots on things like in my videos and only gain a few mph but quicker pull way
Odd But maybe stator coil needs a clean Guessing you have serviced it etc Good rollers belt etc And serviced carb and check auto choke and Air mix If so then could be stator once hot playing up
@@marksavage Along with the stand switch I focus on the carb and valve clearances first for poor running issues with these GY6 peds , annoyingly Peugeot fitted an AC cdi when 99% of the other clones went with the DC variant
Hey mark, I have a typhoon 2019 50cc 2 stroke air cooled. I have attempted to de-restrict , taken the brass plate out, welded the original restrictive exhaust, changed the variator, and the bike still won’t go over 28mph! The belt and everything looks good, what could be the problem? I just simply want to destrict it is all. I checked the jet and it’s got a 58 jet in.
the newer the moped the harder restricted they are, this is why the older mopeds still command good money yours would be cdi restricted so you can get it to pull away faster but not much top end sorry to say without a sports / derestricted cdi unit then sports exhaust , roller, etc
Hi mark I just bought this moped been registered since 2002 and when you turn the key for the ignition the gages won’t flick up like the fuel gage and that any way to fix and what could it be thanks 👍
I have looked through all you videos and am now a little stuck...my sons piaggio(50) has developed what seems like a misfires when accelerating, I have changed the plug cleaned the carb and checked for air leaks. no improvement, could it be the cdi/coil?
if could be a few things but normally fuel , is the plug spark a good blue colour? vacuum working ok float in carb ok? and the right air filter and tune like in my video ht lead and stator coil ok ? is it when running normal or top speed or any time?
@@marksavage it starts and idles really well, new ht lead and plug (need to find your video to check stator) was running well until last week. Now changed out soaking wet exhaust wadding, so am thinking way too rich. It now runs well WOT and idle but spluttering after 1/4 throttle acceleration, but does clear up. Will check idle mix and needle position. Its amazing what I have picked up and learnt from your videos, thanks for all of these and glad you are back.
just got my 2008 aerox (just like this one in the video) running and passed mot after 14 years of no use. I've ridden it for a couple days now, everything seems perfectly fine, engine and power. but I have noticed today a kind of "rattling" sound when slight acceleration coming from where I think, the CVT area. Any ideas of what it could be? and how bad/serious it could be if it's in that area? ps. thank you in advance if you read this and reply. Cheers Mark.
I'd take off the engine cover and start as on these you can see it all working It can be the variator or clutch tinging even the dendix which could all do with a clean and change of belt if you haven't already Worse it could be is a little bit of piston slap ! Old ring etc But start with the cvt system

Hi mark, i have a sym symply 50cc moped, its been stood for 5 years i brought it as a non runner, its running now new carb, cdi, spark plug, new oil and drained the old fuel and added new, im not sure what it is everytime i start it it smokes out of the exhaust stays for about an hour and clears a little, would you know what it could be pleas
50cc sym is a 4t so shouldn't smoke , it may have piston or valve problems , whats the plug like after running , is it losing oil ? what does it run like
@mark savage hi, thanks for the reply, it's not leaking oil, it's runs fine it's just the smoke, when I changed the exhaust manifold gasket there was alot of oil around that area, it looked to me like the previous owner attempted to fix but just made it worse as there was. Bolts missing it was a mess around that area could the oil get into into the exhaust and causing it to smoke amd now its just sitting in there or no? ? But its silent now when ticking over as previously it sounded awful
Do you have a crankshaft puller tool? I’m putting together my new minarelli HMR rc one 94cc engine block & need to properly install my crankshaft, I only need it for 20 minutes how far are you from Cardiff? Thanks dude

Its very different display than our aeroxs !! This is common on other digital displays and can be a few things Battery , needs a new one Connectors , all need to be taken apart clean wd40 and put back Wires , can be split or damaged all need looking at Clocks taken off and wd40 connectors And bad earths Have a try with that lot but but do all no half goes

This is common but don't just keep trying to pull it lol Try and get under the left side panel and pull the cable You will have to get as many screws out as possible
hi i have a lexmoto scout 49 2011 i have asked a question about this before about it not wanting to start but just keeps turning over with spark fuel and every thing else but it wont run but if i use the kick start it starts first time but shortly after this it now only starts on the button whenever it is warm (been ridden for 20 mins or so) i think this might be choke but i have tried before putting my hand over the air intake and that didn't help any suggestions thank you
The dvla in the UK have the mileage on record every time its has an mot You can change the clocks if faulty or damage But if you try and take it apart it will break bud Why do you want to change the miles ?
When my Aerox is cold it runs fine but when it hot it bogs out then cuts out what would it be it got a stage6 70kit on with a stage 6 exhaust on can you help
mark savage My aprilia has 15,000 miles I thought that was low for a 2012 plate. This Aerox has 30,000 for its 2010 plate how many more miles do you think it will last?
Another nice informative video 😎 That bike I lost spark suddenly .. haha I've now orderd a new stator new cdi an new ignition coil..... surly that should do it mark ?? .. only cost me 40 for the 3 couldnt barter with time 😉

Never heard that before ! You or anyone can buy a moped / motorbike It's not for the seller to insist or ask A shop won't He will need one to ride it legally on a UK road but not to buy one The only thing a seller has to do is fill in the log book V5 Which he should do in front of you and on line As for testing it On stand start stop etc Even ask him to ride it up and down If he won't Walk away find another bud
I've been having a lot of problems with a 50cc I got a couple months ago It's like I'm engaging a clutch when I go at full throttle too long. Just no power going to the wheel until I come to a full stop, then its fine. Anyone ever experience anything like that ? Yamaha xf50 thanks
aerox were always fast but never had a stock one but all should do 30mph everyone ive had does 50 mph easy and thats with only a few simple mods as in my videos
@@taylor4617 someone may have played with it or got it de restricted before he bought it? However guess wait and see when you get it bud However!! It's not illegal to have a 50cc that can go over 30mph but it is illegal for a 16 year to do more than 30mph If they what to Me I'd never sell a bike that can't as roads round my area are bad lol So stay safe bud and hopefully it will go faster just do 30 in a 30 and you will be fine

I recently acquired the moped and I’ve beee working on it has a lot of bad work done to it and zip ties ahah and Also someone broke the stud on the exhaust and put a nylon nut and bolt there so I guess I have to sort that out too 😅 cheers from Portugal 🇵🇹
