How do we get the back track working on this keyboard? Here is one way using a USB Memory stick... :) My KC Home Studio Stuff channel will feature music related stuff related to professional and hobby usage. Enjoy :)
Thanks for that. Very helpful. Ive just got this keyboard as a beginner and have enough to do in learning how to play. Maybe you could indulge us with a few of your live sets youve put together please.... as in great, useable everyday sounds. Have subscribed.
So so useful your explanations! I've bought a Ck61 and sometimes I don't understand the keyboard guide. When I create my own voice and record it, the rest of voices change as well. And if I rename a voice, all the live set appears under the same name. 😢
I'm glad that helped. In regards to the "create my own voice and record it" , can you provide details as I'm a bit confused on what you are trying out . Hope i can help.
Terrific video. Do you know if it is possible to play the same backing track thru 2 different live sets? I have the backing track for Comfortably Numb. I have one set of instruments on 11-1 and I have another set of instruments on 11-2. Can I use the same backing tracks between the two sets? Thank you again for the great videos.
Hey Chris, here is a tip for you. When going into settings, to select an option, you don't have to toggle up and down to choose. You will notice the live set buttons (1-8) will illuminate to correspond with the options available for each menu. If there are 3 options to choose from, buttons 1-3 will be lit, and you can just choose there directly without click click clicking your way to your choice. BTW, thanks for your vids.
Can someone who has the CK61 try that? On page 31 of the Owner's Manual it is stated that various functions can be assigned to the Mod Wheel (Mod Wheel Assign). Among these functions is that of assigning control of the USB Audio Volume (USB Audio Volume). I can't get that to work. Having selected a Live Set Sound I enter: SETTINGS / CONTROLLERS / MOD WHEEL ASSIGN and select USB AUDIO VOLUME. That doesn't work because even if you move the MOD WHEEL the volume of the USB audio remains the same. I am doing something wrong? How to proceed?
When you select a sound like patch 1-2 and you setup the backtrack and then save the patch, every time you select that 1-2 patch it will automatically load the wave file. If you create a second patch on 1-3 and use a different wave file saved, then when you select that patch it will automatically load that file. Cheers
@@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq thank you for your reply, I have another question, when I select the Wav file in my keyboard I get an illegal file message. What do I need to do to rectify this? Thanks!
Thanks for this and your other videos, v useful. Just got a CK61, and put a wav file on a usb. It shows on the keyboard screen but when I select it it says “file not found” any ideas what I’m missing?
WAV (44.1 kHz/24 bit/Stereo or 44.1 kHz/16 bit/Stereo) should be the specs I believe. However, it seems the only way to view the files is when you "setting", "functions" and "audio trigger"... then it should see the wave files. The other way you might be using it and having this problem is that the keyboard is looking for backup files. hope this helps
Thanks for this video and explanation. I try to apply this too. I put some WAVs on a USB. One file is fine, but the other files are reported as illegal files. Any idea what I'm doing wrong. I can't really see whether this has anything to do with whether the file is 16 bits. If this is the problem, is there an easy way to convert a wav to 16 bits? Also, is there an easy way to quickly turn off the Audio trigger in a live setting? It seems like you have to perform a lot of actions to turn it off. Furthermore, fantastic stage board. Thanks for your answer.. Henk
HI , the illegal file means that it does not recognize it as a valid wave file. I had that problem where the naming was weird. Also when you are browsing for files.. you might see file with ~~ at the end.. this seems to be stuff that the keyboard writes to the USB key. Try basic naming of files to see if it helps. If not, might be WAV file compatibility.. verify in the manual for requirements :). If you have files that are higher sampling rate, you can use www.audacityteam.org/ . In regards to Audio trigger.. you can go in the menu and turn it off. What suggest is you create a new patch without the trigger as well . So you can switch between .. example: DREAMOFU and DREAMOFU-TRG as a name for a song or something. Hope this helps.
Thank you :) , Well the keyboard by itself can't at the moment.. hint to Yamaha. However there are ways to make that a reality with other devices connected to this keyboard. :) cheers
My backing tracks sound weird coming through this keyboard. It’s like the backing track and the sound of the keys don’t go together. Any idea why? They sound great on my roland fp80.
Hi , thanks for watching and feedback. It would appear that your back track are not in tune at 440Hz like the keyboard. Or the keyboard somehow has a new setting. Go to "Menu", "General', "System" then "Master Tune" and make sure it's 440Hz. If not the keyboard, it could be the wave file. Hope this helps. Cheers :)
@@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq Eh, everything worked out afterwards. Thanks again. One more question. Do you know if it is possible to have part A turn off when I select another part?
Hi :) , Glad it worked out. Maybe i don't understand the question however , "part" as in patch or part as in A, B, C layers? Well for ABC layers, it would be a manual thing if you decide to remove a layer while playing. As a patch, programing is the way. Meaning , if you only use A and B layer in the next patch , just save it like that. cheers :)
@@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq I’m referring to the ABC layers. For example. Piano is on A, organ on B and pad on C. So, for the verse I’m playing piano. When I go to the chorus I’m playing organ. But, I don’t want to have to turn off A and then turn on B. I want B to turn off A while turning on B. Is there a way of doing it?
If I understand correctly , for Audio trigger, it seems that only one audio trigger per patch. If you want multiple loops, I suggest using a tablet connected using bluetooth or direct input. cheers and thank you for the feedback.
I have the CK 88. Is it possible to record my music on the usb drive connected to the piano ? The piano has a great sound but I miss the record and the rythm. I guess I made the wrong buy. If someone can advice me what professional portable piano has the record function and rythm features? Thank you.
Hi the CK is an awesome keyboard however it is not a workstation or arranger pro keyboard. For what you are seeking, a MODX8 would be the keyboard in my humble opinion. Having said that , you can use an IPad with a daw or other apps to give you more features for your CK.
@@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq Thank you. You are right. I was mislead by the youtube video by Yamaha of the CK where they presented the piano and I could here a catchy rythm. in fact , it was only a background music of the video. I will check out the keybord you mentioned.
I bought a CK61 and it has the worst key action of any product I have ever owned. The keys feel as if there is a pressure hinge under each key. There is a key resistance initially and then the key resistance is overcome and the key goes down. When playing medium velocity broken chords in a ballad suddenly the key just barks at full volume. Then when playing staccato on non decaying sounds like trumpet, there is a key bounce / note retrigger. I have sent videos to Yamaha about this and waiting for an outcome. Yamaha are going to need to fix the key action on the CK61. Other forums are filling up with people complaining about the key action.
I just watched another video and it says that you can adjust the key action (Touch Curve); there are five presets. Maybe that will help you. I believe it is under General Settings somewhere. I do not own one yet, but plan to buy one soon. I hope you can get that problem solved. Good luck!

Good morning, my understanding is the only way to see your WAV file is through the FUNCTION, AUDIO TRIGGER and then it would see wav files. Your wave file must be I believe WAV (44.1 kHz/24 bit/Stereo or 44.1 kHz/16 bit/Stereo). Have fun , awesome keyboard :) cheers
