As a beginner, this seems a perfect solution to grow and learn and it doesn't look like a toy - plus the karaoke part is fun to engage kids!

Yep! Every CSP model has a microphone port with its own volume knob.

This implementation in hardware is clearly patentable. It also does some fourier transform and filtering it seems

I looked it up on RU-vid and it's a completely different system. There's a HUGE difference between streaming things on a computer screen and having them appear above the piano keys. Also, Yamaha had a previous generation of this technology (called Guide Lamps) long before Synthesia existed as a company. I don't see a problem here.

There are plenty of pianos out there for traditional piano lessons. ...but there is a large group of "recreational" music makers who aren't interested in traditional piano lessons. They are already learning their favorite songs with shortcuts on RU-vid. This way, they can incorporate actual lessons songs, scales, etc. into their practice AND work on a keyboard with adequate resistance, etc. Certainly, we'd love to get everyone we can into piano lessons, but that's just not how the world works... and Yamaha designed the CSP Series pianos for those "for fun" players. Who knows? Maybe folks who start out this way will be encouraged and seek out piano lessons as a result! We can all hope so.

My music teacher supported using apps to learn. Good to learn songs you like, use classes for musicality. Before these apps and youtube most of his class time was students asking 'can you learn me to play song xyz?'. Can go more often in depth in the class time now.

True. Apps can definitely help with traditional piano lessons too! Faber & Faber (the most popular piano lesson series) has a great companion app for at-home practice! We did a video on it too.
