Yamaha FG Red Label!
Have you ever had the pleasure to play one of these original vintage guitars from the 60s? Let me know in the comments.
I had not one but two Yamaha FG 110 before and foolishly I sold them both.
I was lucky enough to get a 3rd chance and here it is my Yamaha FG 300 Red Label.
It’s a beauty of an acoustic guitar and in good condition give it’s age.
For me it combines the best of 2 worlds, Martin features (neck and headstock) and Gibson features (body +bridge).
Sound wise I think it’s right in the middle between the two. I’ll upload a video of me playing it soon!
Don’t miss it and subscribe to the channel please.

I just bought one of these a week ago, although it's not the red label. It's a '72 Tan label, produced in Japan exclusively for the Japanese market. How it got here to Canada I can't say. A local guy acquired it from an estate and listed it in a local online newspaper. The bridge is adjustable like yours but the pins are not curved like yours. Same original pickguard. It's amazing how good it sounds for a laminate guitar. I've also got a slight bulge just behind the bridge but not noticeable unless you're looking, and doesn't affect playability at all. I've read that some guitars are actually built with that slight bulge. Congrats on your purchase. 🎸👍

Thanks man and congratulations to you as well! The Yamaha guitars made in Japan back then are amazing and quite difficult to find at least from my experience. As you said it’s fascinating how well they sound since there not even solid guitars. I heard someone on RU-vid talk about how they had a special technique for glueing wood layers together, but I don’t really know. It’s also not so easy to get good information on the construction. Anyway thanks for sharing your little story about how you got one of these amazing guitars. And I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do enjoy playing mine! Take care mate :)

I got a FG 300 red label from 1970. bought it around 1990 for 650 Deutsche Mark, which is about 330€. It was heavily played by the previous owners, and the wood just below the strings is telling that. Still fine, though!

Yes

Isn't Nippon Gakki the name of the factory in Japan that builds guitars? They've built for a number of companies, including Ibanez and Fender Japan among others, I believe.

Nah, @wjamyers was right

@@michaelmcinnis911 You are correct and translated it just means Japanese Musical Instruments. We're both right, except that they primarily (or only? )build Yamaha. :)
