For a relatively new owner of an MT-01, having someone as awesome as this legend of a man to show me how to maintain my bike is a real blessing. Thank you very much good sir...
So after you complete this exercise you now have oily fingers, oily Allen wrench and confirmed that if you loosen an oil gallery bolt, oil will now out drip out. If you are worried about oil pressure, install an oil pressure gauge.
Had my MT01 for 14 years and still love the big old beast. Great vid as I'm looking to change the air filter shortly (after spending £998 on chain, sprockets, fork seal replacement, brake pads etc.... big repair bill but other than servicing, tyres and a few starter solenoids - its been very cheap to run for many years. I notice from your oil pressure segment that your V cover on the crankcase has lost the paint on the right hand side, which has also happened to mine recently... is there any fix for this or just buy a new cover?
yeah at around £60 a pop for a K&N filter buy the cleaner kit take a day to clean and wash dry and re oil. my Vmax 1700 is the same no oil pressure gauge but you can buy a kit that taps into the sump with a braded hose and pressure gauge i will have to have a look at my MT01 to see if one will fit on Ash
