Yamaha has its own thing and it does not have to envy anything to any brand, compared to both guitars it goes on to highlight that Yamaha is HSS while Ibanez is HH, where it would have been done in the same way in configuration the thing would be different, and more take into account that this Dimarzio vs Duncan, change the Yamaha pickups for Dimarzio and you will see that it is almost the same or vice versa ... I stay with Yamaha

The Ibanez had a smoother sound, like warm maple syrup. The Pacifica was brighter, you could definitely hear the "strat" in that super strat. I think this demo played to the Ibanez's strength. A clean tone comparison would be nice.

At first ibanez win,but when considering the cost of owning this guitars.yamaha having their own characteristics,not bad at all.I will more on 612 ViiFM side.

I have yamaha 612.. for that twanky ibanez sound like u can increase your guitar tone and use your pickup selector or coil tap.. its a multigenre guitar type.. you gonna like its sound..

Great and simple review. Both amazing guitars and great value. I went with the Pacifica 612viiFM in transblack. I was on the fence between the two guitars in this video. Yamaha wins the price war on this one and it just fit me better than the Ibanez.

Holy Cow I absolutely have fallen in love with this backing track and lead... Was on loop ALL DAY yesterday. Forget the guitar comparison, I wanna hear you play an entire jam over this track... but play in on the Pacifica LOL :) Awesome job

They're both outstanding guitars but the Yamaha is a better value. It also feels a lot more solid. I've tried both guitars and the Yamaha was the winner. I also like the Duncan Custom 5 more than the Duncan Hyperions on the Ibanez, although they're vastly superior to the DiMarzios they usually put on their high end guitars. The Yamaha has a deeper sound, more to it.

Both look awesome and provide workable tones. Having owned a few Ibanez guitars, the last being a Prestige - and now the owner of a Yamaha Revstar - I have to say, I'm a bigger fan of Yamaha quality.

Is the Revstars finish satin? I've been looking at them online but I think I read they are satin or nitro? I'm a fan of a gloss finish but not much on satin.

I think the Ibanez has a slightly richer/fuller tone overall but for the price you can't beat the Yamaha.

The sound quality is definitely off on the initial recorded sound of the Pacifica at 2:44. In that initial recording, the Pacifica sounds soft and very rolled off compared to the Ibanez. I don't know if something happened in the mix, with the volume of the Ibanez being too low, or if the EQ somehow had the high frequencies inadvertently rolled off, as the Ibanez does not normally sound that soft. However, in the side by side comparisons, comparing neck pickup to neck pickup 3:43 3:50 and bridge pickup to bridge pickup 4:37 4:47 they sound virtually identical . These side by side comparisons are far better representations of what the Ibanez sounds like than what was initially presented in what seems to be a poor mix that was presented at 2:44.

@Frank DeSalvo yeah, that's what I'm hearing... not good for a comparison video, as far as how they sound in a mix goes... that should've been caught... the side by side guitar-only comparisons show just how very close in sound, essentially identical, they really are. I was totally turned off to the Yamaha when I first heard it in after the Ibanez in the mix demo... soft, lower output, no attack, no character at all, and pretty meh... but after hearing the guitar only comparisons and how clear, strong, and nearly identical it actually was to the Ibanez, and realizing the Yamaha got muffed up somehow in that mix comparison, I ordered a Yamaha PAC612VIIFM in Root Beer up...

@Frank DeSalvo Yes agree. The Yamaha went way too toned down in the mix. Something was not right. I bought the 612. Perhaps the SD pickups are more field balanced, whereas the Ibanez tended to lose pickup field balance in certain frequency transitions. Not a bad trait, it adds character, however not always a good thing either.

Yamaha has that sweet roundness and warmth and sounded absolutely smooth yet very unique. You can definitely say that it has medium output pickups. Ibanez sounded great and powerful too but it has way too much edginess that starts irritating after some time.

Good ears. That's the Dimarzio department. They have a unique generic midrange that is so annoying, yet it gives them a special character. They always try to boost the midrange, clean up the lows, brighten the highs, and remove overall muddiness. There is a fine line between the bad and the beautiful hidden in that muddiness. Yet. most of the manufacturers kill that frequency zone. Dimarzio is the worst in that search for clarity. Still, Ibanez/Dimarzio is a good match somehow....most of the times.

The Ibanez got more "crunch" in some passages, otherwise both is equally comparable most of the time so for me if money is the problem Pacifica 612II is good choice.

The Yamaha sounded like you could more easily achieve varying volume and spank at the start of the notes, and it also sounded slightly warmer in places. The Ibanez sounded like it would more clearly cut through a track though. Both look and sound fantastic!

$500 buys a LOT of upgrade room but the Yamaha really doesnt need much. Put the money into a nice matching amp or whatever. Would really like to year slean sound comparison? Doesnt the Yamaha have coil tap too?

pacificaの方が表現が多彩でワビサビがある。 Ibanezは最初の印象では強いエモーションを感じた。しかし、何回か聞いた結果、表現が画一的だと気付いた。もし、価格を推測しろと言われたら、Ibanezは$300だと答えただろう。もちろんpacificaを買いました。

Sé que la Yamaha es una guitarra increíble, sobre todo por su precio.Sun así, la Ibanez tiene algo que no tienen otras,no sé cómo definirlo.Quizà en construcción y materiales hayan marcas mucho mejores,no lo sé. Lo que si sé es que las Ibanez suelen sonar únicas.

Both guitars are great. But for me Yamaha's sound better , coz i like Duncan pick ups more... also yamaha cost around 800-900$ depend on countres. so ibanez is 40% more expensive. I think Yamaha is pure winer here. Just 1 thing what i dont know.. how they are builded...

just replace standard yamaha 612vii potensio tone vol and capacitor... I have yamaha 612vii and open back panel just want to know what's cap and pot inside. I think upgrade CTS for volume pot, dimarzio EP1200PP for pushpull tone pot and cap orange drop or russian PIO 22nf (0.022uf) will improve sound better . Standard yamaha use Alpha potensio and just mylar cap tone 22nf.

YAMAHA: wilkinson bridge+grover tuners+graphteck nut/saddles+sd pickups+split coil=many $$ for the price. Can you beat it? IMHO the 612 vii is an amazing super strat. Ibanez has better fingerboard though and this ends it. Yamaha wins by miles.

Hola Danny. Dependiendo de tú forma de tocar y que estilo te gusta más, pero nuestra recomendación es la 612vii, pensamos que es mucho más equilibrada por su composición de pastillas y por el fabuloso puente Wilkinson que monta de serie.

I was wondering the same. I have big ass hands so I qwasnt sure the med-jumbo frets on the pacifica would make me stumble over myself but the rest of the guitar seems pretty solid for the money.

I don't really see these two as a direct comparison. The Ibanez is a great guitar, has really bright tones and great attack. But it's more than twice the price of the Yamaha, so why try to compare? The Yamaha seems to have sweeter tones, a less aggressive sound palate. I'd like one of each, but to me this is almost like ranking a Strat vs a Les Paul. Very different sounding guitars.

My review is that the Ibanez is better, but for the price the Yamaha is almost at the same level of comfort and sound, but I keep saying the Ibanez is better. You better try them this is a sound test so you can compare SOUNDS.

La Air Norton suena mejor para mí. Es una opinión. Entre la seymour Duncan y la Tone zone de Di marzio la cosa está más reñida. De todas maneras preciosos tonos en ambas guitarras y preciosos solos.
