i see pros and cons to both, can't quite decide. maybe gigging with a vocalist/guitarist and the psr would be best of all worlds.

no sst here either! i feel at the price of the genos2 we can have much higher expectations... so prepared to give the sx a pass. although i have not shared any opinions yet, this was more of an informational demo, review to come!

@@WoodyPianoShack in which case, the "baby Genos" moniker is likely to really stick to the SX920. In saying that, it comes too late for me to have any real interest as I decided to upgrade from the EW400 I'd been playing for 6 years, bypass the SX700/900, and jump straight to the G2 - a move I don't regret - other keyboards might do some things better, but I was already invested in the Yamaha ecosystem, so it made sense to me. Also because of the 76 key format (going back to 61 keys would have been annoying, even if I tried to fool myself that it would be okay). Anyway, the SX920 is a welcome refresh to the range for those that don't own a forklift truck to transport a G2 to gigs (so heavy - possibly my major complaint about the G2)

hi and thanks, split point i find i need to adjust depending on the song, then save as registration. been using "fingered bass" previously, but the yamaha demo guys convinced me to switch to left hand AI mode, don't recall the exact name. takes some practice but opens up lots of possibilities.

@@WoodyPianoShack Thanks for the quick reply, I've been using "Fingered on Bass" mode, and have struggled with "AI Fingered" mode. It changes the chord with almost every Melody note. I must be doing something wrong, but sounds like a good topic for another video.

​@@JerryKolata Actually the "AI full keyboard" (or "full keyboard") mode is changing the chords while you are playing the melody. The "Fingered on bass" mode is always using the lower note that you are playing with your left hand as the bass note of the chord. The "AI fingered" mode on the other hand, doesn't use the lower note that you are playing as the bass note, but instead it is using as bass note the root note of the chord so it sounds more let's say a "steady" chord. This is also very useful for players (like myself) that we use inversions of the chords and this way for most of the chords we usually need just one octave and except from some "weird" chords, we don't really need to change the default split point. I have a really bad left hand so this way it helps me not to make big movements around the left keybed. You can always record your playing(as a midi) and then watch on your screen what notes every part of the style is actually playing while you are changing the chords in a different mode.

there is some midi-2-style software available from yamaha. many daws will display midi data recorded from the psr as a score. in fact i think it can be done on the instrument itself and displayed on screen but probably quite primitive.

Now hopefully the prices for the PSR - S series and the previous SX will go down . So I can hopefully buy either one of the keyboards.
