thanks for the vid, I've been trying to diagnose my problem for a while and at this point all signs point to coil. Now I know how to check and confirm :)
this video was very helpful, i think one of my coils are bad, as well. 2005 r1... i changed the plugs and still have slight misfires at low rpms after the bike gets hot. i think i will get a voltimeter and check the coils
Iridium has more resistance than normal electrodes. This draws more power through the coil, which blows coils. Ditch the iridium. Start the bike and spritz water on the header so you can tell if one cylinder is running colder than the others. If cylinder 2 is running colder, or not at all, swap the coil on 2 with the coil on 3. If the problem moves, the coil was bad, if the problem doesn't move, check wiring, spark plug, and compression.
Lucky you to find a bad coil.. I'm still dealing with a miss-fire issue and can't find the problem.. New sparks, tested all coils, drained the gas thank, clean all the filters, etc, etc, etc, etc.... I may buy a Honda next time..
You could try adjusting the idle speed, apparently you use a Phillips head screwdriver to turn a gold knob on the left side of the bike, Most bikes idle at 1,140 to 1,500 I think.
Hey man just order them thank you anyway ill let you kno if it works one of them were out of spec when at room temp and when i warmed tgem in oven it was within spec
@Mannythemanster It was the coil all along, given that i did need to change the spark plugs also. The bike runs better than new, i will be making new video to show the result
i soon as i get some time on mi hands ill upload more videos, school is kicking my ass, as we speak getting ready for finals..... the bike is currently sitting in the parking lot gathering dust, the worst thing is that the weather has been in the 75-80 degrees, man it sucks..
I just a quick question.. have a look at my vid of my triumph 675 on my channel, 675 running like crap (coil prob maybe) i replaced plugs.. checked all over bike for loose connections.. erm i am not getting an engine light on..what do you think.. bike is sluggish sort of missing.. sounds like its running on 2cyclinders but it not cheers Paul
Dude did the new coils make the buke run better i am having the same prob had 0 on the primary and 6 on the secondary on 3 of them exept 1 had an old multimeter tho imma test them on a digital see what hapens
