Picked up 2011 VXR in great condition and it’s a lot of fun. First wave runner for us so we don’t have enough experience to notice what it’s missing. Very happy with handling and speed and glad to see this positive review about the Yamaha VXR in general.
First off, I love your content and I have meticulously watched a lot of your podcast short videos because I am in the market for a waverunner. I'm buying for the family which consist of riders from 3 to 65, both comfort cruising and sporty fun, to compliment our Yamaha 242 boat to really get the most of lake days. I've narrowed down to an FX cruiser for the seat, but only want a NA engine, and will get a supercharged engine if that's all we can find. I just think the big old couch of a PWC would do well. I'm still on the fence about a FZR/S or VXR/S - are they too nimble and agile for a comfort ride with little kid riders? Input/thoughts? I did take notes on your previous video about looking for a 2014+ VX, 2011-2018 FX, and 2008-2014 FZR for their outstanding hull design.
Great ski. My only disagreement is with the earlier ones. I have a 2013, yellow VXR. For me, it is the best. Simple, fast, easy. Do a ribbon delete and tune for 93 if you need faster, I don’t. With the yellow one, you may not be the fastest on the lake, but people will think you are. I also like that it is not gel coat but automative paint. It is as shiny as the day I bought it.
Totally agree but I would have to add the na 1.8 fxho’s as well. No intercooler, no SC clutch and no SC to worry about. The na 1.8 has a lot of punch still. Newer the models of course will get the better features. By now I would think any of the engines with bad timing chains have been repaired or replaced. If it wasn’t for that snafu the 1.8 can give the MR1 engine and run for its money for a reliable power plant.
I have had a 2007 Honda R12 turbo, (great ski but too small for chop) a 2009 15F Kawasaki jet ski (had lots of problems) and am seriously looking at a 2018 VXR for around $6K in excellent condition. Thoughts?
Hello Kevin! I Love your Videos! Your the best, I just made a deal on a 2020 Yamaha FX HO in green with a trailer, with a cover stored inside marina maintained, for $13.500.
I have a 2015 VXR (black & yellow) with 100 hrs. I believe this is the best naturally aspirated craft on the market. I have had no issues with it whatsoever. 67mph stock. I added a Riva ride plate, Riva air intake kit, made my own free flow exhaust and installed the Riva steering column and handlebars'. Next is the Riva MapTuner Nano. Hope to get 70mph out of it. Acceleration is fantastic, love it.
So my dash says 72 but is really doing 68, there is always a 4 mph difference between dash and a real speedometer, i got the 2019 vxr and i did riva rebeon delete/ intake kit/ riva exhaust/ pitched 11/18 solas prop and riva stage 2 tune, i was told to get the riva ride plate and seal the intake grate to be able to get to 70, if you have any updates let me know
@@carlosalarcon5175 I don't know, I seem to be stuck at 65mph on GPS with the mods and I weight 180 lbs. The only thing I have not done is the impeller. Not sure if that will get me near 70mph though. A bit disappointed with RIVA stage 1 tune. Did not seem to change much. As for the ride plate, definitely helped the handling and maybe some top end speed. That's reality.
@@michellimoges4700 i weight 170, and yes the prop 11/15 pitched to 11/18 gave me 2mph top speed and aloot of low end grip so it pulls better then the gp! So i belive you just need the impeller to get to 69-70 and k need that ride plate to get to there aswell, do you use premium or regular?
@@Watercraftshack Pensacola, FL, Perdido Bay today. Couldn't really go wide open in choppy waters, but it feels strong and pulled some kids on a tube. Been wanting to do more ski riding and this VXR does seem like the right choice for me.
Yeah funny but true story-- 3 Puerto Ricanians in my city have spent 10 grand each on their old vxr's and added the supercharger and the whole kit. kind of defats the purpose of that skii just buy a gp then u can resell it or trade it in. And yes it was a struggle to mix 2 languages to find out what they did to that skii. Guessing someone from down south sold them on that idea...
