When I started playing in 1995, my first axe was a Yamaha student classical. I could imagine that if I had stuck with the Yamaha brand for all my gear choices, this guitar would’ve eventually been my semi-hollow of choice. Especially after a killer demo like this one. It’s like having a Gibson ES-345, between the sound, the finish and the fingerboard inlay.

Thanks for covering so many of the tone options in this review... particularly some straight overdriven chords not just some blooozy bent notes. Apart from the fact that is half the prize of the cheapest Gibson 335 I am interested in I can hear better clarity in the note separation, less muddy and great response to volume and tone changes. I like the slightly different shape too. This is more than a 335 clone. It offers more to me. Thank you Yamaha!

Ive had 3 of these in my lifetime these kill 335s hands down Im still on a mission to get another one .

unfortunately I think the only Yamaha guitar that comes in a lefty version is the Pacifica

I had forgotten that it came a year after Epiphones 339. I bought the 339 over the Gibson but I don't like Jack plate on top of the guitar.

What we are hearing, apart from a Yamaha SA2200, is the degradation and decay of the English language.

@@teuast I wasn't referring to his accent at all. It was more about word choice, in that he is using terminology that has only recently become common for younger people, but which also lacks the complexity of properly spoken English. "Wicked, awesome", like, perhaps you know what I'm referring to?

@@teuast Ha ha. Actually, I do take an interest in how language is used, misused, distorted for political gain, and generally degraded by naive attempts to "modernize" it. But, you know, there's another side to things. These days, many people completely miss ironic humour. It had been part of language, at least in Australia and England, for a very long time. I generally equate it with intelligence. These days, it's generally wasted on people, unless they're on the same wavelength, so to speak.
