thanks for the video. very much appreciated! finally a legit video and sounds of what the pipes really sound like! I am considering buying a stryker and went to the dealer saw a stryker with the cobra pipes and had the dealer start it up to see how it sounds. after hearing the sound i was kidna turned off from the bike. BUT NOW, after hearing this video with some real pipes on the bike, vance hines pipes! im back on board for getting a stryker! thanks for the video! THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!
Thanks .. I made this video for people like you .. The bike doesn't really rev at impressive high rpm's compared to some bikes but it has allot of torque . You sound like you have ridden one so I probably don't need to tell you that . It has 0 to 60 rage of about 4.3 seconds .. Pretty damn fast for a cruiser ..
Glad this could help you... I really don't know if there is much of a difference between the sound ,but the look of the pipes is what sold me. Cobra's are nice looking but the Vance and Hines has the nice horse shoe curve that looks so much better in my opinion. Be warned though these pipes weren't cheap & I'm not sure if they make the blacked out version anymore.. I got them through Low and Mean. Cheers and god bless on your new machine..
I like it allot. I went with it #1 because I got a good deal on a left over 2011 . #2 It's very comfortable and easy to ride & has plenty of power . Not to mention it's good looking and it does get allot of compliments..
Ryan4233 Thxs man .. But I want to add that extremely loud bikes are very annoying to the public .. Always remember when you are roaring past a crowd of people not everyone is saying Wow that bike sounds great ... Many just think its down right obnoxious .. Esp when you are trying to talk to someone while a bike is ripping past ... You want people to be glad to see you come, not pissed off .. I wouldn't want my bike to be any louder it's already loud enough . Super loud pipe screams I'm a douche and I need attention !! just saying ... be safe brother . God Bless
Im looking for Loud to the point where someone not paying attention would hear me but not so loud im an asshole getting everyones attention to my own personal dick measuring contest.
Ryan4233 I hear ya .... Good luck on the bike hunt. oh you could always take out the baffles but you may and probably will get a lot of back fire and popping .
i got cobra tri pro and fuel pak on vstar1300...im thinking about getting the pipes heat wrapped! so you are satisfied with the power of the stryker for you?
Rodrick Dubose Yes , It's plenty fast and powerful . Of course there is always room for more power being it's a mid size 1300 cc bike. I would love to own the 1900cc Raider, but am still making payments on the Stryker so I'm stuck with it for a while and I have no problems with that . So to answer your question Yes I'm totally satisfied .
Sounds effin amazing man. Thanks for the video... I'm still trying to decide between the V&H big radius and the Cobra swept. I actually kind of like the sound of the little pops and backfiring lol
Cool. The black ones were very expensive. I paid close to a grand but I really wanted to keep the blacked out look so it is what it is.. I wouldn't take the baffles out unless you plan on up grading the airbox , because it won't run right if you don't ;) Be safe. God bless.
My leg still touches the pipe even with the spacer extending out the right side foot peg , but the pipe doesn't get hot enough to burn your pant leg, but it will probably burn your skin if you were wearing shorts. I was worried about this 2 but trust me you will be fine. Just make sure that the guys from low and mean send you a spacer for that foot peg. They forgot mine, and I had to have them send me one in the mail. Hope this helps.
Sweet, I just ordered mine today and I'll be getting them in tomorrow. Can't wait to throw them on. It's too bad they don't sell blacked out big radius anymore. I'm also going to throw on 14" apes and I have a lowering spring too, I also put on the dagger air filter on her, gives her more power for sure. I'll be posting a video of her once I put her all together, subscribe to my channel to stay posted on it. Anyway, ride safe.
Ivan congrats! You have a very rad ride. Just bought me a new 2012 Stryker with only 90 miles on it. Got it black like yours except with satin aluminum rims. Hope I can find your same pipes when I'm ready. I did buy and install the Low and Mean radiator chin cover and the back LED tail lights. Removing the back tail light shroud allows to see the nice 210 wheels. Did you have to move your foot pegs out due to your pipes?
Hey Ivan Ivonaff have you had any problems with the rear exhaust header burning your leg because I keep hearing that about this particular exhaust. They just sound so much better than the Cobra pipes too, which is why I want them
I ended up getting a chrome set. I left the baffles in, but have considered removing them. It's plenty loud when I'm getting on the throttle, or cruising at ~80. Not sure what removing the baffles would do to the sound at idle/low RPM.
That sucks man .. They really should find a way to keep the black heat shields in production , I'm not sure why they don't... O well there are other blacked out machines beside the Stryker , but in my opinion the Stryker is probably one of the more affordable machine for what you get ... Good luck with your search..
checked low and mean and they only carry the chrome and it looks as if they only sell and make chrome now... wonder why they don't make black now also... now im kinda tuned away from getting a stryker... i wanted to go all blacked out... kinda pisses me off they don't make them any more.... oh well life goes on lol. thanks again for the reply
Bitchin Thanks!! Sounded like you had some post-detonation at the bottom of the hill. Have you done anything with the breathing system on the bike at all? I noticed a difference when I removed the AIS system on mine. Hoping to take mine in next week for a PC3 tune.
thank you! it's so nice to hear it while in motion. did you install the spacers for the peg? if so, did you notice much of a difference in the ability to make a right turn?
+Street Hawk okay, great. i was a little concerned about the effect it may have on the agility. it's good to know it will not be a hindrance. thanks again...
Only issue is the Pipe is close to the pant leg and can burn them. Esp if you are wearing something that will burn easily . I would suggest wearing jeans, which I'm sure you already wear when you ride anyway , but I wore a pare of sweats one time on the way to the gym and burned a big hole in them . Jeans might burn to if held directly to the pipe with pressure for to long . I usually have my foot resting as far from the pipe as possible and the extension is out far enough that you can still do this and be comfortable . It's not a serious issue you will learn how to avoid it , but it is an issue . The pipes are not extremely loud either unless you are getting on it , and even then It's def not the loudest bike on the road , it's far from the loudest but that is Another reason why I like these pipes . They are loud enough that someone not blasting their radio or talking on the phone could hear you, but not so loud it screams (I'm a douche bag ) . Good luck . This bike with these pipes gets lots of attention .
+Street Hawk i see what you're talking about with the "issue, but not really an issue." i will occasionally catch myself with my pants leg against the pipe, but it quickly gets too hot to last long. you are right about the attention, too. i've had the bike for a couple of years, but i didn't put these on until a couple of days ago. the deep rumble of this exhaust definitely turns heads when put on the stryker....
@@dave32228 thanx for the reply. I n 2012 i bought an 09 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic with 450 miles for $6000. At the time i had a Yamaha catalog with all the Strykers and raiders and royal stars and vstars in it but i never paid any attention to it. It wasnt until i bought my bike and saw a Raider ride by me that i saw how badass that bike was and wished i would've gotten that instead. I love my Vulcan and still have it. Do you still have the Stryker ? P.S. Did you get your Street Hawk name from the 80's TV show with the same name?
@@theone2be33 I sold my Stryker a few years ago and bought a 2016 Suzuki Rmz 450 . Then Last spring I purchased a 2012 Yamaha Raider and it destroys the Stryker . I like it much better . The Stryker is still an awesome ride though . Yes I got my name From that Show :)
@@dave32228 Nice! Yeah the Raider is much stronger and almost 100 lbs heavier at 729lbs. 113 Cubic inch, 1854cc with a 4.2 gallon tank that gets 42mpg. Yes this info is from my catalog. Lol. What color is it? And did you put 2 into 1 pipes on it? The one i saw in showroom had them and they looked awesome compared to stock! 👍😎🇺🇸
Any idea where I can find the 2 into 2 big radius Vance & Hines in matte black like you have in the video? I would even be willing to purchase pre-owned.
I bought them from low and mean . They were the last ones, and this was back in 2012 . :( You can check with them again but back then they were the only ones .
Hey Dave...Im about to make my purchase but I heard I will need a digital fuel processor. What do you have?? I have a choice to get one for $239.00 or a better one for almost $600. I dont really want to break the bank but if I really need to spend that much I will. What do you suggest? Thanks in advance.
How tall are you bud? This bike seems smaller than a raider. I’m stuck between the 2 bikes. I’m 6”5 and was wondering if you had a preference on which one would fit me better
I actually have the Raider now and it is slightly bigger then this bike . I'm 5'10 and i don't have any issues with either bike so you being 6'5 would be fine . I would say go for the slightly bigger bike . There really isn't a huge difference in the ergo's though . Good luck
Did you have to tune anything after putting this exhaust on or add a power commander? Getting ready to get a Styker and this exhaust setup, wondering what I'm in for
I bought them from Low and Mean and at the time were the only black ones left . I paid around 900 for them .. You can get them powder coated but finding ones that are already black may be easier then you think ..
I sold it last August .... Absolutely nothing wrong with it . It was just something I felt I needed to do ... Good Luck . Id check with Low and mean . Warning they are expensive . I think other companies sell black pipes that look similar but I couldn't tell you anything about the sound if that is what you are looking for .
Not really .. Not as the very first bike , I mean I'm sure it's possible but I would not recommend it . If you have some back ground with dirt bikes then yeah but otherwise you may be looking at an accident .
Brand new back in 2011 I think was about 10, 500 , but I think they are even more now .. You can get them used with low miles and extra aftermarket stuff for probably in the 6 to 9 range if your lucky .. Which would be your best bet if you around worried about money .. Great bang for the buck no doubt !!
Hi , in all honesty the seat is low but there are other factors to consider . This bike is fairly wide so your legs are spread apart some so your legs need to be able to be strong enough to hold the bike up as it is fairly heavy too . You need some leverage . The Foot pegs are out reached a bit but I can't say that someone your height wouldn't be able to reach the pegs . If you are a new rider I would not suggest it but that's not to say you couldn't handle it . My advice to you would be to go to your local dealer and try sitting on one or maybe find a demo bike so you can see for yourself . . I'm 5 '10 & the only time I feel a little awkward is when I'm backing up and using my legs esp if you are on a hill or gravel other then that it's fine . The bike has a very low comfortable laid back feel but it is also long and you noticed it's weight the slower you go. It's not bad for the experienced rider . Hope that helps ..
One disc in front , one in the back . They serve there purpose and stops the bike very quickly even considering that the bike is kind of heavy . It's not a race bike obviously but it handles very well and has tons of low end torque and was a blast to ride ..
