Yamaha TX81z Demosong : A-Ha Take On Me (TX81z Instrumental)
Here's is a demo song that I did using just Yamaha TX81z. All synth sounds on this song are made using TX81z's preset sounds.
Drums sounds are from Alesis HR-16 samples. I know that the original used Linndrum but the HR-16 matched better with the TX81z sound :)
This is not ment to be as a overly produced and to the teeth matching deconstruction, more as an TX81z sound demo.

Nicely done. Somehow this song always leaves you wanting more. The breakdown in the middle really is genius. How long did that take you to put together?

exnihilo415 Thank you! It took maybe 4-5 hours from start to a point where I had programmed all the drums, and all tracks as midi notes so that I could start record audio from the synth :)

Fantastic. I recently got a DX11 after my DX7 died. And im enjoying if more than the DX7. I never thought that would be possible. Theres something magical about the TX81Z/DX11. I think its the inclusion of different waveforms that makes it more powerful and flexible than the early 4op DX synths like the DX100/21/27. I never liked them. There was something lacking. But with the DX11 you can get that full sound and variety you normally associate with 6op FM. With easier programming.

Saw one recently for stupidly low price (like 100$), but resisted and I ll keep beeing happy with my DX7. :)

DestroyER82 I would be happy with DX7 too, but I just can’t find space for big full keyboard synths 😆. I got TX81z to cater the 80s FM sounds and I got it quite cheap couple years back, I think I paid 80euros. One option would have been TX7 but it cost more and I hate the design 😜

Space is worst enemy, I have put today Alpha Juno 2 for sale. ;-) (keeping JU-1, so at least im not loosing those awesome sounds :) )

mima14031985 thanks mate :) I’ve spend time with my older gear last couple weeks while recabling my studio. Gear that doesn’t get that much daily use like the TX81z, MC303 and MC505 ;)

Hi there, the presets are Yamaha TX81z factory presets. I put the name and bank number of each preset on the audio tracks on my arrange. All parts should be marked. I can make a dedicated list for the video info soon :)

whats your opinion on the roland jx-3p?

scarr_ I’ve not played with JX-3P but what I’ve heard in the demos and youtube videos its a great synth. Only downside is like with JX-8P is that editing without the dedicated controller is bit slow but not in anymeans impossible or hard, just slow.
