Hi @organforum - or others: My Tyros 4 is behaving improperly. The meter for “Song”, pops down to about 70 whatever I do. Say if I try to put the volume up to 100 it automatically pops down to about 70... or lower, what to do?
Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the function of the hard drive in Tyros? I'm upgrading my PSR-S950 to a Tyros 5 and I had no idea about a HDD.
The main function is storage, of course. Like having a high-speed USB Flash Drive inside the keyboard (styles, midi or audio pads, midi files, sampled voices, wav files, expansion voices, mp3 files, etc...)
Thanks for the reply! Another inquiry; So, if there is an HDD why the need for the FL1024M expansion? Can't I just load my expansion voices from the HDD instead? Again, apologies for my ignorance.
You can store many external voices(samples) on usb/hdd but each one has to be loaded in the RAM memory in order to be reproduced by any keyboard. I guess this is because of the high-speed transfer that is needed between the memory and the sound-processor. L.E: If you don't plan on using any expansion voices (Yamaha Premium Packs, third party custom voices, or your own custom voices) then you don't need the expansion memory.
Hi Paulina, I was in the transition for preparating to hange my HDD to an SSD too because of the 'drive is busy' error. So I hooked the Tyros up to the PC, put it in 'direct access mode', copied all from HDD to my PC. Then connected the SSD to my PC, had to assign logicl driver letter, formatted and restored data. Then, just to check, before opening the Tyros, I selected a recorded audio. It started playing, but gave no sound at all. But no drive busy error. Restarted the Tyros, still no sound on recorded audio playback. Then I tried to do a 'simple recording' which always failed with the drive busy error. To my surprise I was able to record a complete song without error. And, lo and behold, I was able to play it back and had sound back. It now even plays my old recorded songs again! So for me it seems to have been an issue with the audio-to-hdd and hdd-to-audio conversion rather than a disk error. Will most possibly go ahead and insert the SSD, but this might help you and others.
1.Tyros four accesses files faster (in real time) .2. No risk of defectare.3. Audio recording and performing better on audio.4 player. It is quieter and makes no noise at all. 5. If the style is used for accessing SSD is made in real time. Now standby function can be set without care "NEVER" no risk of damage!
+Daniel Okupski YHY ... bez problemu ale dysk musi mieć złącze IDE / PATA. W moim Tyros3 pracuje już ponad dwa lata .. i super bez zawieszeń , fajna sprawa.
