Excellent video, going to give this a whirl today. Had it apart but my 22mm impact socket wouldn't fit in the hole to turn the motor, so had to wait to get a normal chrome thin walled 22mm, should be easy with the info you gave. Thanks!

Very helpful. Just putting my old/new 85' VX-700 back in service and wanted to clear the valve adjustment before I turned her over. Had been mothballed by previous owner. Haven't a clue what was satisfactory so far.

It's getting harder and harder to find parts...oversized pistons? Not a chance in hell

@@aussiewantok that's the reason I have parts engines, and still looking for a non-running parts bike for all those goodies that will cost me a Fortune on eBay. Know you Aussie's have it far worse than us bloke's in the States, what with the Fed's playing Patty-Cake with the Milwaukee Metal Mashers (HD) and their lawsuits in 84'! Have a great week my friend. Off to push more car parts at Advance.

@@murraykriner9425 mate, I like these bikes cause they're simple...as simple as workable engines goes ...and thankfully, they do not get me any speeding tickets

@@aussiewantok I don't mind that stuff at the end of a video. But yeah, at the start and randomly halfway through, not so good.

It was a good video but what'd you do about your cam being off point on the second one?

It's close enough, cannot get it better than that

Sorry to ask a stupid question. Does the bike has to be in neutral gear or In gear with clutch pulled?
@aussiewantok
@aussiewantok 3 месяца назад
I do it in neutral, having it in gear would work, it would just take more effort to turn, Thx for asking

did the timing being off a little bit on that front cylinder affect anything?

@@willstamps5641 that's the best you can get, I believe. The bike still runs fine. Literally, I still have it and ride it ;-)

It should be 0.10 and 0.15 mm (cold) for top and bottom valves? That's what is in my workshop manual.
@aussiewantok
@aussiewantok 5 месяцев назад
In is 0.1 and exhaust 0.15mm, when cold...

According to the manual this should be done every 4000miles.... Is it really that important? And what is a sign that you would need to do this?
@aussiewantok
@aussiewantok 2 года назад
Poor performance and noise. I've never really experienced either, and check the valves like once every 2 years...
