Bobby Cody THANK YOU!!!! For putting up this video. 2 hours of trying to do research on the internet. And 2 more hours watching over a dozen videos before I came across your video. Went outside last night after 10pm and found those two wires. Got my audew 2-pin electric turn signal flasher relay installed. I rode the bike to work this morning feeling so much better and safer knowing my turn signals are flashing properly now. And just the simple fact that others can see my turn signals on and not some ridiculous rapid flashing turn signal. Thank you again for taking the time to put this video up!!!
Awesome I'm glad it helped I know I couldn't find anything online about it either took me a little while to figure it out but finally did and it definitely gives you peace of mind
FINALLY! The video ive been searching for days for. This helped a ton, ordering my relay right now and going to wire it in this weekend. I have a 07's v star 1100 custom midnight that i just completely tore down and customized. Put integrated led taillight/turn signals/brake light in the back and new led signal lights in the front and when i hit my turn signal button all 4 of the started flashing. Checked my wiring multiple times to make sure it was correct and everything i searched online came back to the relay issue. I was looking for a solution that didnt require me to install resistors all over the place but the problem was i couldnt find anyone that had any videos out there with another v star like or similar to mine. And they dont make a plug and play led flasher relay upgrade that i know of. At least your kit came with the relay i just ordered the most popular one that showed up on Amazon. Thanks again for the video!
Hell ya! I ordered switchbacks for the fronts and a new LED relay for my 09 vstar classic. I opened the cover and saw the 5 pin relay and felt defeated. But thanks for your video and about 10 minutes of my time I have sweet normal flashing LEDs
Hi I just got a vstar1100 recently all of my lights work instead of the front headlight my fuses are good and my bulb is good and brand new is this the relay that is connected to the headlight or is it the one beside it ?
Hi, very good video. On another matter, does your bike have an emergency flasher feature where all 4 indicators can be switched to flash? If so, where is the switch? And does this work with the ignition Off?I’m in the UK and just bought my bike, it’s the same model as yours. Cheers 🇬🇧
Awesome. I’ve been looking for a while on how to do this and finally find a video that explains it well. Thank you! And , what handle bars do you have and how tall is it?
Thanks man glad I could help and the bars are el diablo from demon cycles 10" rise with 2" risers so 12" overall rise and I believe 8" backsweep didnt have to change wiring harness or cables at all just had to reroute a few things
Thanks for the response. That bar looks freaking cool. I think I’ll get one for my bike. Would be nice if you post a video once you complete your build. 👍🏻
@@jorgearcelay132 I have a little more to go going to paint the wheels black and do a black headlight and flush front signals and I'll post some videos of it I've done a few other things since then dropped it 1" in the rear removed the AIS pump painted some things and put forward controls on it I posted some pics on my Instagram @codycoyote27
Thanks for the video... when you put it back together, did your indicator light in your speedo cluster still work? Also was that an LED relay that you used?
so I did everything the same in the video and it worked great but when i plugged in the gas tank all 4 turnsignals blink is there another wire i need to remove from the tank plugin
From what I'm reading the easy fix is to remove the turn signal indicator bulb from the speedo. Or u can use the resistor diode things to add resistance to the circuit to keep the current from jumping the indicator bulb.... Or if u want to change your front bulbs back to stock, that should add enough resistance
Did you do the front led lights yet? I replaced my front and back with led’s but they are flash hyper all at the same time. I got a relay but I think it’s bad so I’m going to have to get another one tomorrow . I think the wire colors are the same on my 650 so now I know which two wires I need. Thank you
@@gunghogringo How did find out of sticks for that you are at the pool office the dominator housing and and there is a wire for the turn signal indicators do you have to hit that wire cutting the circuit want to do that/appropriately for each side. Eli downside is he won’t have it for signal indicator on the speedometer housing for when your turn signals are on
Only things missing here is the procedure of disconnecting your battery first as any electrical work should be preformed with the battery disconnect and alot of people would have no idea how to remove the female connectors from factory plug other than that was good
Not sure about your bike but I'm sure it would be close to the same I looked it up on ebay just typed in 08 vstar 1100 taillight I'll see if I cant find a link and send it to you
Posted the link to the taillight setup in the description drop down if you are still looking not sure if it's the same seller on ebay but definitely the same product
@@bobbycody5616 no all my turn signals flash no matter which one I choose left or right. Found the fix though, to remove the indicator bulb on the odometer. The other fix is a diode
It occurs to me that the spade clips from the oem relay would connect directly to the new aftermarket relay if you simply pull the supplied wires off and connected the original wires. This would eliminate the extra connections. Just sayin...
I have a set of wire release tools or de-pin tools they are really cheap on Amazon or eBay but you can get them out with a metal pick or something sharp and small enough to release them from the plastic connector
@@rlsticks Hey any luck? i tried it with only the new relay it work first try but when i put the old relay and the new one together like the vid it now doesnt blink and stay solid when hitting the blinker let me know how it went for you
It's all good I understand the curiosity the reason being the factory relay also is in place for other things not just turn signals that's why there are more than two wires going to it its also a relay for I think gauge cluster lights and the horn too I believe not completely sure but the two wires I removed were just to wire in a separate relay for turn signals because of changing to led turn signals hope this helps
Ok cool man thanks! I have another question. Did you ever run into the problem of the opposite side lights flickering / flashing when you put the turn Signals on?
