I have owned a Can Am Commander, a Polaris General, and now a Yamaha Rmax. Thus far, after 1000 miles on the Rmax, the first two rigs aren’t in the same class as the Rmax! The 3 drive modes, the clutching, the smoother ride over rough terrain, not a lot of clanking and rattling like the other two, and the interior finish makes the Rmax my choice by a “Long Shot”! AND, I’m just getting started.👍

Though by the sound of it, your opinion of the commander is based on the old model and not the new one introduced in 2021?

I bought a Polaris General XP 1000 Ultimate because of the 06 Polaris Outlaw that I bought from my cousin in 2008 (he bought it new). It needs new tires and a new seat, but the machine itself starts, drives and behaves like it did the first time I rode it in 06!

RMax is far superior to the General all around period. Polaris is fckn GARBAGE pure an simple. Oh you're really happy with you Polaris?! Oh it hasn't burned a belt/broke/tore apart/running well for 400+ Miles already well then wallah!!! Boom!! It just spontaneously caught on fire and you're extremely lucky you got you baby boy outta the machine just 2 seconds before!!! Yamaha you deserve a massive thumbs up 👍 straight up best machine made today and we all know how damn reliable your machines are. Everyone I know has owned atleast 1 Can Am and 1 Polaris that we all sold because they're city boy machines that'll leave your ass stranded even tho you have tools and spares it's always going to leave you screwed and getting towed home Yamaha. The old REAL Arctic Cats, Honda Kawasaki Suzuki are very well built extremely reliable machines. Arctic Cat being 100% American was King with big block power with massive full-sized American frame then wall street city boy Textron swooped in and bled them dry into the prune they are this very day.....a sad pathetic joke going no where! They destroyed the most exciting company (can am and Arctic Cat battling it out was legendary and led us to the point we're at this day

This is actually funny 🤣 you gotta look at the old stuff this new stuff is garbage from Polaris. Tech at one of the highest volume Polaris dealerships in the US. Currently have 2 machines I'm swapping engines in. Ones. 2011 ranger that has close to 8000 miles and the rancher never did a damn thing with it maintenance wise. The other is a 2022 ranger with like 1.6k miles as a rental gets regular "maintenance" from the rental company any it's about to have items 3rd motor in it. I'm sure most of it is user error but I laughed at this comment for sure.

I own a 2023 RZR 1k. First and last one I would buy. They touched on the rattles and clunks! Boy is that an understatement. It is not confidence inspiring. The power is great. Steering is great. After that it’s substandard. 22k for a new machine and it riddled with annoying little things. Stay away from anything Polaris, unless you want the weekend project of servicing EVERYTHING on it. Belts, hubs, bushings, electrical issues.

You can take comfort knowing you genuinely did buy the best all around, heavy duty yet light on its feet, highly refined endlessly powerful UTV. There's nothing out there in it's class, 2 seater only the general comes close but it's built like highly over priced plastic junk that'll break/cook belts more effective than it'll ever make a belt last!!! Lol The 4 seater RMax only the kawa Teryx S comes close, and that's not even as capable as the RMax is...even if you removed 2 tires off the RMax it'd still be far superior to the teryx lol Hope you get years of use outta her and enjoy it. At the same exact time I am extremely sour, mad and disappointed with you and your new machine 😎 as I still haven't found an Rmax4 to call our own haha 👍

I bought a 2018 polaris sportsman 850 HO brand new. I will never buy another polaris product again. It is the clunckiest, squeakiest, rattliest bike I've ever owned. It constantly feels like its going to fall apart. You about need a hammer to shift gears and you have to get about 1500 rpm before the gear engages and lurches forward or back. The engine sounds like it has 100k miles on it brand new. The quality feels terrible and if you dare push the throttle the power is there but it feels like a gamble if the engine is going to stay intact. I personally would rate it lower than CF moto and probably lower than Coleman as well.

That Polaris sounded like an old International Pickup truck with a rattly tailgate coming down those rocks. The Yamaha was tight and all you could hear was the suspension working. Having said that, why not just buy a Jeep and drive it there and back home when you are done lol. I've never understood the allure of these cars for off road when you could get an ATV and have more fun. I mean you drive a car to where you're going to ride, unload another car and get in it and drive some more. I know they are fun but man the price of these things is nuts.
@dbphillips1978
@dbphillips1978 Год назад
I own both. A 2021 rmax and two jeeps. The jeeps are great for bigger trails and move a little slower, but more comfort for sure. And if they break, it's hard to drive it home sometimes. Can be done though. The sxs is faster on the trails and can get in tighter spots and hit jumps. If it breaks, I can most likely get it to the trailer. We take the machine that fits the trails we plan to go on.

I watched dirt trax tv on their RU-vid channel about the RMax 4. I think they said that the general has more room, but the seats are better positioned in the rmax 4. Of course you also can't overlook the fact that while the rmax 4 may be better, the general 4 doesn't lose the cargo bed. I just bought a General XP Deluxe then put a Hunterworks clutch kit in it immediately. It has decent engine braking, and no belt slap with that done. The reasons I bought the General instead of the Rmax are simple. Every dealer around me had the Yamaha marked up $5000 over MSRP. The General has a larger aftermarket. Polaris is an American company. Some people don’t care about the latter, but I still do.
@curtissmith8789
@curtissmith8789 2 года назад
Paul l know what you're saying. I have both Yamaha and Polaris. The mark up isn't that great, but finding one can be a chore. I really like both and they are on my short list. I think the fit and finish on the R-max is above the General. I've had 2 Yamaha atvs and 2 Polaris atvs, both were good machines. In general I think the Yamaha was better built. The Polaris had great suspension,but the A-arm bushings didn't last long and overall maintenance needs were greater. I leaning towards the R-max. At least Yamaha has a footprint in the U.S. with the Newnan Ga. plant. They have over 2k workers and have built over 4 million units. I don't think you can go wrong with either of theses.

It's not the engine braking it's the fact that front drive is not engaged on the downhill allowing the rear tires to skid on steep hills, only the Pols with downhill decent (or whatever it's called) keeps the front drive engaged on the downhill.

I made the decision a year ago to go with the general over the r-max. The main reasons I chose the general is Ride command, I hate the shoulder pads on the r maxx, and polaris aftermarket is above and beyond any other brand.
