Just got my new to me XSR700. Thanks for the tutorial. Seems really easy to do. I like to use synthetic Diesel Engine Oil, Shell Rotella T6. Has the same ratings and characteristics as Motul, but far cheaper.

Awesome tutorial, so straightforward and easy to follow! It was a little difficult to hear some parts though since the background music was a little too loud.

the oil flows faster if you take the oil fill cap off first before draining ... FYI, it lets air in first.

What's the name of the tool you showed at the start? the one that unscrew the filter? and is it necessary?

It's called an Oil Filter Wrench. They have different designs, but all work the same way. No, it's not necessary. If you have good grip strength, you ought to be able to just spin it off by hand.

Yeah, I wanted to use Full Synthetic 5W-40 and consulted with Yamaha technician. He said if I do not want get into trouble I should use what is specified which is Semi-synthetic 10W 40. Maybe later when the bike has 50+K Km I will try 5W-40 as it is getting more quickly where it needs to be in colder weather.

im 5'6 (yes im short i heard it all) will this bike be too tall for me?

I'm the same height! At first it felt little bit too tall, I was on my tip toes, but got used to it :)

I'm 5'9" and I can just barely flatfoot it, my inseam is 31". You should just go to a dealer and sit on one. If you get really desperate just find a pair of riding boots with a thick sole 🤣
