The YDP 165 sounds better, richer, closer to an acoustic piano, in my opinion. The 145 still sounds a bit "metallic" here and there. Doesn't sound bad. It just doesn't sound as good. Thank you so much for the comparison.

I’m 50 and started to learn the piano at the end of August last year. Loving it!!! Today I tried the a Korg LP380, a Korg G1/C1, then an Arius YDP165 followed by the CLP725PE…For me, the CLP725E was the strongest contender - it is also the first Yamaha that I’ve tried and been really impressed by!! I’m going to go back next week and try it again 😊.

I'd prefer to hear each piano one voice at a time, then play the second with same. Easier to hear the difference which after-all is the reason for the video. Both beautiful pianos, thanks for the demo Ted!

I initially heard you play that first piece on the SK-5 and it really caught my ear, I immediately fell in love with the song (and the SK-5). I have been trying to learn it by ear and it is a very fun piece. Is that an original of yours, Ted? I'm a huge fan of both of you, I watch your videos all the time. I'm in Ohio but someday I hope to come visit the store in San Antonio.

the new arius line has "highres sound from cfx concert grand". Is the cfx sound better than clp 725? and does arius have the same possibilities to costomize the sound like other yamaha pianos with vrm?(p515, clp 725 etc).

I’m curious how the YDP-165 compares to the P-515. I guess the P-515 is more suitable for someone playing gigs due to it’s portability, but for a home digital, I’d be interested in a comparison video because they are roughly at the same price point.

i want to know too. but also the clavinova 725 is almost the same price in my Country: arius 165(1300€), clp 725(1350€), yamaha p515(1450€ without stand).

The p515 has the sounds and features of the CLP645. It has upgraded keys, action, Bosendorfer sample, more piano tones and really, is a different class of instrument. The reason why they cost the same is the YDP165 has the wooden case. But, beyond the speakers, the P515 is a way better piano, especially if you are listening in headphones.

@@taylorshareen2690 My only experience is with the GH3 and yes, I would say it worth the price. Just remember that was the Clavinova action, which was a huge step up above the beginner series. I hope you can try both actions side by side and compare them.

The 164 if price and condition is OK. Check out the keys, in particular playing left hand chords below C4 and right hand melody above C5. My unit sometimes delivers some wistle background sound (only CFX sample). Despite that comment, after three years it looks like brand new. @@ozcanuzun1366

For a total beginner, any meaningful difference between the YDP-144 and the -145?
@Petrvsco
@Petrvsco Год назад
For what I know the 145 is just the newer model of the same series. So, for a complete beginner it does make a difference. I’m thinking about buying one, so the difference is price, not sound. I would buy the 144 only if significantly cheaper than the 145.

I just ordered the Yamaha YDP -165 More money than I wanted to spend but hopping it is worth it. Hear in Canada it is 2,099.9 plus 15 % tax 2,414.99 I started looking at lower cost Digital Pianos, but every time I looked at a video on them see something just a little more, and up and up, and I ended up spending, quite a bit over what I budgeted for. Don't thinking I will be earing out for quite a while.

Can we send the piano sound through the usb to host connection? I mean, not the MIDI notes, but the piano sound to record our performance on a DAW?
@sfdavecc
@sfdavecc 6 месяцев назад
I don't think you can use the usb out from a digital piano to plug into a DAW, unless they've upgraded its capabilities to include analog audio. The way I've always done it is to use one of the phono jacks (headphone), plugged into a digital interface like a PreSonus AudioBox (under $100). This resamples the analog audio with a high bitrate - better than the input of most computers - and outputs that digital data through a usb that connects directly to your computer. I've done this recording my own acoustic grand piano with mics going through a mixer that sends the analog sound to the AudioBox, which then converts it back into digital and sends that out through USB. The mixer isn't necessary. An AudioBox has phono inputs and outputs, and also a USB out.
@alissonwilker
@alissonwilker 6 месяцев назад
@@sfdavecc thanks for your reply. Actually, I've just received my new ydp-165 and discovered that if I connect it through USB to a tablet/computer the DAW recognizes it as an IN/OUT audio interface at 44Khz sample rate. So, it doesn't require an external audio interface to capture its audio. That's nice!
