I hate people say oh well if that bike had this and this it would be way faster... NO I have seen little kids on 85's put a beating on 450s. Its the rider not the bike.
nah 4 strokes sound like someone ate del taco for lunch. 2 strokes sound sick as hell are just as fast and a lot cheaper and easier to maintain. I will never ever own a 4 stroke dirtbike
Mike Rotchburns Good for you, but some people like them, and that's good for them. Personally I prefer the two stroke, but four strokes are still motocross bikes, therefore they're still awesome. I love my mates KX250f, but I love my YZ125 more ;)
Jaret Boston they dont blow up that much 4 strokes blow up more cause they run hotter and at higher rpms and a 2stroke costs like 200 if u change the piston when your sussposed to
Guys shut up! there both awesome! We are all watching this because we do this thing called motocross! It includes both two and four strokes. Neither is better, its a preference and some are faster on one or the other. Also, its all the rider ,not the bike.
Ricky Carmichael said in a interview that four strokes were stronger at one point, but due to his team and riding skills he was able to achieve victory. Either way, I don't know what it is about two strokes, but I love em.
Time to set the record straight on this debate - using math...math doesn't lie. Im using the factory specs to do the math for this comparison; Bike: Yamaha YZ250F Weight = 231 lbs HP = 39 Power to weight ratio = 0.168 HP per pound Bike: Yamaha YZ 250 (2-Stroke) Weight = 218 lbs HP = 49 Power to weight ratio = 0.224 HP per pound Bike: Yamaha YZ450F Weight = 247lbs HP = 56 Power to weight ratio = 0.226 HP per pound My YZ250 (2 Stroke) Bike: 1998 (yep thats right) YZ 250 (2 Stroke) Weight 212 lbs HP after engine mods and Fat Pipe = Dyno run showed 59 HP Power to weight ratio = 0.279 HP per pound As you can see, a stock YZ250 (2-stroke) has far greater power to weight ratio then the 250F and almost identical power to weight ratio to 450F. The debate is over. My older YZ 250 has best power to weight ration by far even against the 450F. Note: Its easy to make more power over stock with a 2-stroke; It costs many thousands to get any real power gain out of a 4 stroke.
Not more expensive, just more often, in the end it balances out to be pretty equal. 2Strokes are easier to work on by yourself, but don't last as many hours between rebuilds. Main difference to me is whether or not you like engine braking. (I love it)
Great job on the yz!!! I agree with stone465 on the upgrades,he is right on the money with his suggestions.Hope the other manufactuerer's get back in the two stroke game as I think there is a market for them.I'm 50years old and every time I go to a track with my 05 yz 125 people gather around.Anyway, great vid and great riding.
Glad to see a video of a 125 vs a 250f. That's the real equivalency. A 250 would smoke a 250f. But it is all about the rider. Poto won the MXoN on a 250f against a bunch of the best riders in the world, on 450's INCLUDING RC. Just have fun riding whatever you can and like.
@stone465 dude get an 05 125 if ur getting one that's when they first started using aluminum frames but if ur getting parts get procircuit pipe/silencer, and vforce 3 reeds and my suggestions for sprocket, add 1 tooth in the back that's one of the best things you cam do to increase performance!
mann i wish where i lived we had a track like that and we can ride freely.. we got a track he but its crazy expensive to join up an can only use it once every 2 weeks for a race an i dont wanna race
Is a yamaha yz250f a good beginner bike for me? I am 14 years old and 160 cm. I like it more Than a yz 125 because the yz 250f is more silent. What do you guys / girls think?
+Lars W Gjethammer get a 125 its a great bike, and its good too not get a too big bike. Transfer from 85 to 125 is the biggest so dont jump from a 85 to a 250 its a too big of a change
+ohhTilty Oh, i dont think you understood me. I got a yz 85 last week. The 125 was to big for me. I am a small guy. So now i have a dirtbike and i am happy with it :)
Good ripping right there. Question I'm 5ft 6, 175 pounds strictly trail ride rocky technical terrain. Sold klx140l, want to get kx100 used or used 2t 125, leaning towards 100, any reason why 125 over 100 besides rear suspension?
Look at the air they caught and the distance at 1:57. That's why I love 2 strokes!!! Who wants all that extra weight? btw I have both but pawned the 4 on my wife... lol :)
I just think they are fun and taking turns would be cool plus acceleration would be great. And I think it would be annoying switching between nobbies and road tires.
bs 4 poke is way more it cost me about 45 bucks two chage my oil and oil fliter on my raptor 700 and mayb 10 bucks to do it on my cr 125 top end for cr 125 like 200 250 4 poke 500 to 800
its yz125 and yz250f a yzf is a fourwheeler. They are both great beginner bikes. Just depends if you want a snappy two stroke or the smooth power delivery of a four stroke
suckstofall yzf is actually a motorcycle like the r6 or r1 the Dirtbike is a yz and if it's a four stroke it has a f at the end and the four wheelies is yfz.
Looked like that 250 yz was struggling better suited track to a 2 stroke short and bendy Top end flat that 4 stroke would eat them 2 strokes buy well done lads really well rode bet every time you watch this you think I could of done this faster I have a yz 125 and handling and power is amazing from a quality machine
As we can see yz 125 and yz250f are almost same , difference is 4str is cheaper to maintain and 2str is very expensive and very often to maintain... So ..
@ GoproJakey....... That is definitely not a yz 250, that is 100% a yz125. You can tell by the sound. search youtube for doug dubach yz250 and compare the sound of this to doug dubach.
@NICKWRF WRF I think u got the wrong... Replacing a 2 strk top end is cheap as fuck! Under $400 if you do it yourself.... Replacing valves, springs, cylinder, piston on a 4strk can easily turn into a +$700 job depending on damage and parts used. Ive seen them as high as $1000 to fixe a 4strk
y is he wrong you just said the exact same thing fourstroke is cheaper to maintain and if you say its not then you got issues a pro racer ie ryan villapoto for example he prob rebuilds his four stroke every 5-10 races and a guy on a 2 stroke rebuilds every god damn race so by the time you by your 1000$ less 2stroke in a year you already bought the same bike in rebuilds plus more ... haha people on the internet are gullible
I only like 4 strokes for the rev limiter, sounds so cool. I ride a yz125 too and I can't ever see my self getting a 4 stroke. It's just because so like 2 strokes better. (My personal opinion, I'm not saying 4 strokes suck)
you can hahahaha all you want muppet, enjoy your fart machine good luck every 3 months rebuilding LMAO -> CRF 150R - 21.8 @ 12,000 rpm / 9.7 NM @ 9,000 rpm
