The grease base seal is the right way to go, clean air on a two stroke is the single most important thing you can do, first thing you do when yo get your new filter is turn it inside out, take a needle and heavy thread and sew every seam ( as they are only glued ) this will make cleaning it so easy, get home, pull the foam filter, dunk it in gasoline to remove the dirt and filter tack, wring it out, let dry, pour a quality filter tack onto it, massage it in liberaly and evenly, grease the seal, replace, good to go, your bikecwill thank you!
