My piano cover of "Comptine d'un autre été (Die Fabelhafte Welt der Amélie) - Large Version" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original extended composition by TheChiefEmperor: ru-vid.com... Original Piece: • Comptine d'Un Autre Ét... ~Sophie:)
To all those who are doubting themselves on being able to play this: trust me, it's not as hard as it looks. The left hand is the same throughout. Once you've got that, you can just do it without thinking about it and then you're basically only playing with one hand :)
+ollie lanch exactly. i don't know how to play piano but i've been practising this song with synthesia and i've almost got the left hand part . it repeats itself. i'm sure i will be able to play the whole soon.
+MrBarosxp took me fews weeks to really have the "thing" about this left hand, it's still a little hard in some points but it's not as hard as it seams to like Ollie said, just that poeple who doens't know solfege have to take care of the rythme and it's gonna be just ok :)
one year ago i watched this video and i told myself that I would learn to play this piece. One year later, here I am and still don't know how to play it....#sadness Edit: I actually learned it about a year and a half ago when I was in vacation....I forgot I had even commented this. I printed the partitures and it took me a while because it had been approximately 4 years since the last time I had read music. It's pretty easy but learning how to play again was pretty hard
Jackson Scully same. its actually really easy. the left hand is the same for the entire piece. and there is so much repetition for the right hand. and when there is a variation, the key patterns are the same
thank you so much i’ve been struggling with this song and searching the internet envious of other people playing so well but this is determining me to practice my coordination (the hardest part for me) !!
There’s no tutorial for the extended version you have to either find someone who knows it or quite literally play it by ear which is what I’ve done just sit for an hour or so and listen and try to find what sounds like it
@@tywhite6410 I learned this version of comptine with a synthesia video, it's by a guy named Vu Nhat, and it's (as far as I'm aware) arranged from this video! Just search "comptine d'une autre été large version", and it should come up.
Listen guys, you dont need a piano like hers or a piano teacher in order to learn how to play. All u need is a keyboard, sheet music or youtube tutorial videos, and a lot of dedication. I started playing the piano again this year after i had quit for 6 years and i forgot everything. This song is beautiful and i wanted to learn it and after 6 months of straight practice ive finally got it. my keaboard is only ab 100 $ and keys arent weighted or anything. So if u want ur dream come true, its possible, just strive for it. Nothing ever comes easy, but you can work to achieve it.
That is true up to a point. If you manage to master this without a teacher it is time to go find an experienced teacher in order to improve your technique. Im not saying this to bash anyone, but if you have put enough time and dedication to get this far, only a really good teacher is going to be able to get you further. Ex amateur turned professional pianist.
hi so to start of, i wanna say this because you are amazing at the piano. i love classic music since i was a kid. i've always wanted to play it myself (dont have enough money). classic music moves me, and i wanna move people on my own. thank you for playing this. you just made me realize how much i wanna play piano myself. greetings from holland
I would love to play I live in Holland to near Amsterdam I'm 12 so I could start any time soon I love this song alot I would love to be able to play it
Same, I have all of it down but still get tripped up with the part from 3:06-3:27. Need to clean up the whole thing in general as well. Love to play it though
Me: prepares to play this piece Left hand: “NO NOT AGAIN PLEASE I JUST RECOVERED ... HELPPPPPP” Right hand: don’t be such a weakling Left hand: YOU DONT GET TO REPEAT THE SAME DIFFICULT PATTERN OVER AND OVER FOR A FULL PIECE BRENDA Edit: this piece is extremely easy for me I just wanted to make the joke.
When you're learning this piece you really got to take care of your hands. I kept daily practice time to a minimum and stopped as soon as my hands started feeling weird. I also did daily exercises for the muscles in the forearm and only practiced this song when I was already warmed up. This way it took me 5 months in total to learn, but I was also pain free. (I have to type a lot at work, so my hands and forearms can be quite sensitive.) Now I can play it without pain, but when I'm not warmed up it can still hurt a bit.
This has to be my all-time favourite version of this piece of music. Without exaggeration, I've watched this video about 200 to 300 times. So beautifully played, the accents and slowing down just make perfection. Thank you Sophie ❤
i started playing piano when i was 5 at 10 this was the piece i learned. im 14 now. and i know this off by heart. this shows that practice makes perfect. keep on persuing your dreams.
I would be so happy if I could play this for my girlfriend but there are two problems I don‘t have a girlfriend and I can‘t play this Thank you lots for your nice comments guys and for 2,5k likes
This piano piece is amazing (even more amazing when you did it) My family has it's ups and it's downs because I have autism I can sometimes get stressed with all this. I found this song when I was upset I listened to the song it made me feel better (music medicine) Now every time I feel upset (like when I was writing this music in back ground) I go to this. It never fails to make me feel better Thanks
It is such a piece that you hear somewhere, like so much, remember all good memories with a person u like, but u cant find the name of piece. U feel happiness and sadness at the same time.
Dear Sophie, today is the anniversary of my mother's death which occurred 2 years ago... and I dedicated your song to her she is buried in the Monumental Cemetery of Milan which is something unique, famous artists are buried there and when I play it with a portable speaker in this corridor over 10 meters high where at the end there is a square, let's call it, and there is the Tomb of "Alessandro Manzoni "it is really a monument and the people who come to visit the Monumental Cemetery of Milan they are shocked because the context with the music creates a peace but alive because it resonates throughout this space, the Director is a friend of the family and he too is moved when I make this gesture every year it is like being at the Scala in Milan but there are them listening in the air.... thank you for giving me this incredible feeling... Grazie Alessandro
this is one of my favorite songs played on the piano...and apparently I have to come view this video a couple times a year so tears can run down my cheeks...you play this so beautifully...see you in a few months...thank you...miss you mom
Edit: that's a guy playing. His name is Michael. Had a conversation with him way back when you could message posters. As my classical guitar instructor used to say, that is very musical, meaning, flourishes in the right places, tempo changes, crescendo, decrescendo, etc. Hands down my favorite rendition of this beautiful piano piece.
I wonder what the great's like Beathoven or Mozart would say to these modern mastrpieces... either way I will say this is my favorite song and that this is just pure art! and also I came here because I thought the original was simply not long enough.
Zachary Klump Beethoven would probably be like its good but not lit. To make it lit, he would probably play several variations over it starting with the plane original and then followed by several variations of it and then like it a lot.
Beethoven would definitely change the left hand. It's just so boring. Why does everybody like this piece so much? It's boring with way to much repetition.
Do you how know many 3 and 4 chord songs get to number 1? The human ear loves beautiful sounds. More notes doesnt make better music. Get off your high horse or do better.
leieva I didn't say that it doesn't sound beautiful. It does, but for my taste and I'm sure the taste of many others it's just way too repetitive. If you listened to any of Bernard Herrmann's scores, you would know that original and new harmonies (or chords, however you may call it) sound just as beautiful if not more beautiful. Mozart or Beethoven would not have liked this kind of music. Look at any of their music. It's not just the chord structures but also that there's no variation on them or at least on the way they're played.
At first I couldn’t get my left and right hand synchronized, but after a few practice i can finally play it! It is actually not as difficult as it seems. Nothing is impossible guys, the word itself says “i’m possible!” Keep on practicing, believe in yourself and you’ll be satisfied!❤️
For last two days I was suffering from sove nerve twitching and depression with anxiety. Found this piece and it saved me immediately. Thank you so much!
This piece seems like it requires just the right touch at just the right moments to get the overall feeling right. I've heard it played by others with less of an emotive touch. This young lady seems to have gotten it just right.
hey! you won't see this , but i wanted to let you know how much this video means to me. This piece was the piece that pushed me to learn how to play the piano and after seeing your video like a million times i finally got into piano and actually learned it. i've been playing for 4 years now!

I would love to play this to the woman of my dreams, but sadly after almost 10 years of playing piano in 2014 I broke my left arm, which slowly healed when I broke it again in 2015 and now Im unable to use it for precise tasks... Ive tried several times but it was just getting worse and worse so I gave up on it. Its been 4 years and Im still sad about it, but thankfully there are youtubers that share these amazing pieces with us so at least I can listen. :)
I honestly believe I’m about 1million of these views if not more the amount of times per day i listen to this over the past 5 years since I found it and I play it too. By far best song in existence could never be tired of it. Glad I found Amelie and watched it one day so I could find it
this song makes me cry so much that I can’t explain but he makes me feel happy too, the nostalgia that this music returns me is so touching. no matter how much I listen to this melody I always cry as much when I hear it. I’m really grateful for all I have in my life, I have a lovely bf, so many friends, good grades but this song reminds me of my family situation, which is not always joyful. In life I relativise as much as possible because happiness is the best feeling in the world, being able to laugh and smile is a gift that God brings us every day. I write this here because I don't want the people I know to think I'm complaining about my life easy enough. thank you for reading everything, I wish you a happy life. excuse me for the mistakes, I'm French and I don't speak English very well :)
I don't know how many times I've repeated this song every morning to start a day. This cover suits me better than the original one. Vielen Dank, Sophie!
Pfffff... I've played for like 8 years and stopped when I was 12. Now Im 29 and really trying to get back and start playing for years now but cant freakin get serious enough and do it. However, the more I watch piano videos the more I excited I am. Damn it.... HELp :D
All my fingers hurt . I suggest play up to that point and then shake it off. As taylor swift said ha ha . Like any muscles in the body . They need to rest . and build . Body and finger exercise .. Crucial . Love you for trying ..
Trust me, it hurt at the beginning, but after months of playing it, you're stronger and it doesn't hurt at all : you'll have pleasure. Just keep practicing for long minutes, even if you are playing it five times in a row. "Experience is the best teacher"
Yours is the finest rendition of this song of the dozens I've heard on RU-vid, a true joy to listen to. As a retired professional pianist, I always find something worthy of constructive criticism ... not here! Played beautifully, exactly as I would play it myself (maybe better). Your ritardandos are exquisite,, and your pedal work masterful. Brava. I realize this video is 9 years old as I type, but hopefully you'll notice this comment, just a sincere admiration for your artistry.
it's been almost a year since I learned this. It took me 4-5 weeks to teach myself to play it, but now I always play it when I'm sad or smth. It was really worth the pain and if you never give up, you can do it
This version is my favorite. Sounds just perfect! Can already play the basic part but am now adding some (can't do all because just started learning piano) of your interpretations :)
