in 2010 after a terrible deployment, i wanted to kill myself, my Platoon Leader introduced me to Yann Tiersen and i heard this played and for some reason decided to give life another try. Everytime i am to this point of a decision, i listen again and make a choice and yet again, i am still here. Not sure what this song does but, it resets me. thank you.
Absolutely exceptional! Transcendent! Some other words that yet still only give some _glimpse_ as to the feels this induces within me. Thank you for sharing.
whatever instrument he puts into his hands...he turns it into magic. i dont usually like the violin but this brought tears to my eyes simply because it is so beautiful..
Oh, Yann ... absolument magnifique !!! Merci beaucoup.
Thelema our passions make us unique. Like the quote: “you will miss her the most when you walk through the forest, holding the hand of a girl who doesn’t like trees.”
Maybe 10 years ago while walking in Brest's harbour I saw him playing that piece but I think it was an extended version. He was alone on a shit stage and some people were like "who the f is that guy?" hahaha.
SOSEDAL'S MEN I doubt we could call that a tour. The stage was very small and maybe only a crowd of 100 could watch. I don't even think it was advertised.
The 49 person who dislikes this video are such jerks. I play the violin since eight years, and i wish one day i could play as good as him. This is beautiful. This is powerful. So much emotions! I just love this song. (Excuse my english, maybe it's a bit bad because actually i'm french)
he plays with passion, he puts his soul in his musics, he ain´t no comercial pop music, his music is the sound of his soul, not some stupid crap to sell cd´s.
ruhum güçlü duyguları, güçlü heyecanları yaşamaya yönelik şiddetli bir istekle yanıp tutuşuyor, gönlüm bu renksiz, sığ, belli normlara uydurulup sterilize edilmiş yaşama ateş püskürüyor..
Aw. He is SO incredible! He makes the best music in the world, this is how instruments supposed to be played. Also piano! Big talent for the whole world!
I was lucky enough to be able to see him play it live. I was so moved I started crying ^_^; 100% recommend if you can. I think these days he's more focused on his electronic music though.
Həyat naqil üzərində rəqsə bənzəyir. Kimisi rəqs etməyi bacarır, kimisi bacarmır, kimisi isə rəqs edirmiş kimi görünməyə çalışır. Bir gün hamı o naqildən aşağı düşür, kimisi öz istəyi ilə, kimisi istəmədən. İstəsək də, istəməsək də, rəqs etsək də, etməsək də, bacarsaq da, bacarmasaq da hamımız o naqildəyik və hamımız oradan aşağı düşəcəyik. Yaşamaq - aşağı düşəcəyini bilə-bilə naqildə (sur le fil) rəqs etmək bacarığıdır.
yann's music is total mind control, it's so great seeing him play it really adds to the music and i must say the camera guy did a superb job capturing the performance
anyone who has headphones should turn off the lights and listen to this while lying in bed.just hearing and imagining the sounds the violin is making gives relaxes you completely.i am 17 and i absolutely love this music
@010295x No, I just find the piano version much more emotional than the violin version. Also, i'm talking of this particular track. But apparently 1 comment on 1 song was enough for you to figure me all out huh? :)
Well, I think he doesn't give a fuck for his wealth but lives for music. Money comes if it has to. That he deserves it or not, the main part of his job is to enjoy his life and to be happy doing what he's doing...
yes you are right , and this is good example at the same time of course violin and this performance show another nature of the music but for me the mood of this performance is totally different from the phylosophic piano original
I dont know if you wrote that first and dont know why people believe words belong only to them, c'mon I use a lot 'mental masturbation' and not for that I will be mad if someone use it too, grow up. You should have lots of free time now cuz holidays, eww.
@elwoyku funny because you never played any instruments? I, as a pianist, can say I like his music but they are all repetitive and do not require high skills of play.
too bad its so short...is this Yann? i only heard today about him...so he plays a lot of different instruments...do u know what is his main instrument? He is great
Dont know why everyone is criticizing this person for their opinion. Just spare your thumbs if you disagree, else everyone here should have one down...
I dont know the basics of violin and keyboard. even dont know anything about music... but i tried hard, too much hard to consider it as the amelie's sur le fil version. but i failed. :( whatever it is, its a master piece
Just a heads up to you, I saw him live last week in Toronto, and this isn't the Yann TIersen I expected to see. It was the loud, highschool french rock, yann tiersen with a band. The music was too loud, not very melodic and there was no piano or accordion that you are used to seeing from him. However, he does perform this solo on violin which was definitely the highlight of the night. I'm glad I finally got to see Yann live, but it wasn't the Yann I hoped to see.
@Notenkrawatte: Hi, I just found a good link, but unfortunately I can't upload it here.. However, if you type in 'Sur le fil amelie poulain sheet music' in Google, it's the second hit. When you scroll down the page, you'll find the right piece called 'Sur le Fil' and it's free downloading :) Good luck, hope it'll work!
the first related video I can see next to this video is "Robot Violinist"... It's okay, i like technology, but... A robot will be never able to do that, to be like Yann Tiersen. That makes me think that there must be a god. Human beings can't create a robot with soul to play violin. We are Unique (I know this comment has not sense)
I HATE happy crappy songs in pop charts ans bloody 'walking on sunshine'. All my friends say I listen to depressing music. Its bot depressing its beautiful and makes me happy....so its happy music, just like this song!!! Try to understand music a little better than make stupid passing comments that demonstrate an ignorance to beauty bosniaczek
It is, but music is kind of a reflection of an emotion and that can be melancholic. Often I like melancholic music more than "happy" music. There is more passion in it, I think. But on the other hand it also depends on your mood what kind of music you prefer. In the disco I would not like this, but now I'm listening at home and I like this very much.
Advise to parents: do not let your child play this music at home on their own violin. This music is guaranteed to massacre your child's bow string, but it does sound damn awesome when done right. (FIY you can see some loose hairs after a while)
@GalakFyarr You are just one of the many people who like Tiersen for Amélie, not for who he is truly. Listen to his latest album (Dust lane) the only album that truly represents him.
How is it possible that a man could make sound like that come from something he made? Some say it is God. I don't know, but I feel like I'm transcended when I hear this.
