luckyyu2004 there are even tons of white girls and black girls out there that can speak perfect chinese. maybe you need to get out more. one of my best friends' girlfriend is white and she can speak not "perfect" chinese but she can speak a little and understand a fair amount
Actually Kobe was trying to encourage him to stamp his place on the game. The entire pre-match Kobe was in his ear trying to get Yao relaxed and not be so nervous.
It's impossible not to respect Yao. His induction into the NBA Hall of Fame made me so happy. He was a major star on and off of the court. The off of the court impresses me the most. A man of that size could easily walk around being a douche to anyone and still get what he wants. Yao is too mature for that. He displays great character, a strong heart, a willingness to learn and a desire to help the community via charity. All around an awesome man.
Yao is right up there among the greatest ever Centers in NBA history. Considering where he came from and how good he got, his development was amazing. Size, skill, intelligence, could shoot FT, threes, layups, dunks, hook shots, fade aways, spinoramas, off the glass, great passer, blocker, grab boards, clutch in big game situations, and most of all, he is the nicest and funniest guy both on and off the court. How can you not like him and the total package? To me, Yao is the greatest, but in all fairness since I never saw the past greats, I only say he's among the greatest in history.
@@eurasianbrother1710 among many of his injuries, he also had osteomyelitis in his big toe. It's too bad he had so many foot problems because he was one of the greatest talents at center in NBA history.
FreeDog70 he might have better a percentage. But yao is probably the best mid range and free throw shooter EVER. Just pure skill and talent. He once made 30 free throws in a row. The only center who made that. And his mid range is mostly a set shot bc he doesnt even have to jump with his height.
FreeDog70 no you dont have to say sorry. Percentage isnt always percentage since no one would say jordan isnt the best bc his field goal percentage is lower than shaq's. Most of the things in the world are opinions and facts. And saying yao is the best is just my opinion. % never is the biggest factor.
Thanks for welcoming Yao and made him feel comfortable at home. This is what I really appreciate about African Americans, they give credit where credit is due and treat worthy people with respect. Btw I'm a Chris Tucker fan
I miss Yao so much. If he didn't have those damn injuries, he could have been one of the best Centers of all time. 7'6 guy with post skills, free throw and middle range. damn 真想念姚明,中国骄傲
because this era is more about quick pace and explosiveness, look at GSW. Big man in today's era is too slow on trasition for offense/defence that can really hurt you on fast breaking and get back to defending after rebound. I feel like the only centers that can do well in this era are centers that are dominant like all the HOF centers but there just isnt any right now
Traditional big men you mean. But players are already evolving to fit in this new quick guard centric game. Look at KAT as the next generation of big men, mobile giants that can shoot FT's.
I followed Yao’ s career from the get-go and he was super shy , timid in his rookie year's first few weeks but once he got adjusted to culture, new country, teammates, he started to show aggression and confidence and blossomed. Sad his career got cut short!
He becomes popular mainly because of his personality, he is humble, never angry and scold others, he also doing his best to stupid a foreign language so he can becomes part of the team. He follows order as a team so that's why both his teammates and fans like him a lot.
Yao is the most athletic 7'6" person in history. There were 3 other 76er NBA players before, but they were just simply too slow. 1 of them was actually 7'8"
Yes. All of the super tall giys are usually built like a stick (manute bol) or fat like Shim Bullar. Yao had a very strong lower body. His calves and quads are powerful
I love how the comments have swayed to illustrate another great Kobe moment. Also just quietly but I reckon Yao is the reason the NBA players are getting paid so well now because he bridged the divide to China which had such a huge influence in their love of the current NBA. (Despite the ups and downs of that relationship 😝)
Yao had everything, to be one of the greatest ambassadors in league history in the 8-9 years he played. I can't speak on his game, but it always seemed like he was fundamentally sound with a great shooting touch - free throw/threes/mid-range, defense, rebounding ability, post game, and often get missed - his passing ability, not in terms of number assists, but having a good court vision. And of course, his personality was larger than life.
This man adapted fast, and played very well against great players. Went back to China as BBall God. Great stories inspire. Go to a new country and play their game, learn new language, and succeed in a league of great players in less then 5 years. Certified Chingon!
I remember when Yao 1st had to face SHAQ and they interviewed this people in China and they said they were concerned for his well being because eSHAQ was too big and strong! Funny.
Yao started from a very bottom line which is far blow those native players. He's humble, skillful, kind, hard working with the people around. He truly deserves everything he got. What a legend.
