Good intro. brother. People ask me all the time, “what’s the ROI on wrapping your truck??” 😅. Although it absolutely does generate leads, I did it 100% for brand awareness.
Couldn’t agree more. I had solid signs made from the get go, just made much more sense. Yes you are spending a bit more money but it’s absolutely worth it.
Fyi guys there is nothing wrong with the signs that just have a number and a call to action, it's just for a different thing, its for being on the side of the road its a "bandit sign" his sign is a yard sign, which is there for people walking by a house. Many big business use bandit signs.
Signs work period. It just depends on the area. You definitely don't need to spend more than a dollar on each sign, and they don't need to be fancy. And i wouldn't personally ever put my brand on a bandit sign because those signs are illegal in Texas. Bandit signs are for getting quick information across. Not for branding. I would prefer code enforcement not know who i am at all. I just think people place their signs incorrectly. And if you're not using google earth and google maps to route out a perfect route for placing signs, you are severely messing up. When i pull up to a location i already know its a good place and know exactly where to put it before i arrive and i just GPS and go. Hopefully people are not blindly driving around as thats extremely inefficient
Where are you finding signs for $1??? The H frame stakes alone cost more than that. Cheapest I found was UZ, and they were like $300 with the stakes for 100 signs, and they were only 12 x 18.
Just ordered 150 signs next ordered I will definitely change them up. I didn't go with the $99 guy signs but I definitely could add some things thanks for your content love your videos!
I'm all for branding, but when you're starting out broke, anything is better than nothing. Most customers who catch your signs aren't noticing the name of your company first. They're noticing the service that you're offering first, and that's why your service should be more noticeable than the name of your company, if you've even come up with a name yet..... Your brand will grow as you pursue your vision. Adjust for growth as the growth comes. Don't despise the day of small beginnings.....
Thanks for this video. I have a question, I live in an area that there are a lot of dog owners around. Do you think these signs can work for dog photography? Any tips for it?
I'm going off this same kind of layout/style. Curious to see the effectiveness. Mostly for front yards but I'll probably plant a couple bandit style too. I just need to get off my ass and do it, not worry about getting in trouble for it 😅 (bandit signs give me some anxiety)
They can google your phone number and find out your business information.. your wasting money, a car going 25/35 mph will not be able to read all the shit you have on your sign. My bandit signs have made me $1000’s and people have looked up our company by our number.. signs are about what you do and how to contact you. Simple.
It’s a lot of guys doing over $1 million in power washing Christmas lights and a few other areas that would wholeheartedly disagree with you about how to design the sign. The sign is getting red at 60 or 30 miles an hour or in an instant so if you put all that stuff on a sign that’s meant for somebody that’s in their car they’re not gonna be able to process all that information. That’s why they keep it so simple with the phone number real big so people can read that in a split second.
If you watched the video I not only said my thoughts about the actual sign but I also talked about placement. I would not put a yard sign in a spot where people are speeding by. Because yes, they won’t be able to read. I talked about putting them on corners, at Home Depot, grocery stores. Putting a sign on a 50mph road is useless I don’t care what is on the sign it won’t be read
Very valid points! It's funny how I take the branding seriously in my business - site, content, work clothes, etc but I recently ordered some yard signs and they look exactly what you said NOT to do. I'm new to the yard sign space but will definitely implement that strategy - definitely will pick up better quality leads. As always, thank you for the content!!!1
Hey Austin, I’m going with your advice it sounds logical. Thanks for the awesome content keep up the good work bro. What is the name of the website you used to design your signs and also the website that makes it ? Thanks again brother
I kinda agree to an extent. I know when im driving im not looking for tons of info on a sign. I think because you’re already in the industry you see the plain sign as a cheap sign. Hard to speak for the consumer. Also these signs get ripped up all the time, why put tons of money into them?
Yea, there's just so much information out there, and everyone perceives it differently. Another channel, I dont want to mention name, preaches about the house washing yard signs, he says dont put more than one service on the sign because it's too much. Phone number and small website tag. I listened to him and got the blue house washing signs, mistake along with the 100 dollar pressure wash course. Although how do I know your sign design will be better? Just have to try it out
You really don’t know. Every market is different and you just have to go with what makes sense to you and stick to your guns. My method works in my area because I live in a town that has a lot of money. And people care about who they hire
Austin is right the main key is if you are selling value then you will get valuable customers that will pay you with value in that will use your valuable exterior cleaning company again marketing is how you start with your company and Valley your service what are you worth when you start you have to stick to your guns and then be your own company my family has been in the business a long time it all come down when I was growing up was what are you worth how the individual a customer in this world receives when you talk we are judged at the first conversation to the last conversation marketing is Massive Action and consistently marketing thank you Austin 4 your content
TBH, i think all yard signs are cheesy no matter what, reputable established companies don't rely on that , with the exception if you put one on the job your doing or just did.
There are successful guys who say the exact opposite. Only A/B testing can really tell you the truth. You make a point but if I saw your sign driving buy I'd be squinting at the tiny letters.
I saw some real professional signs that had before and after pic with text HOUSE WASHING and then the other side DRIVEWAY with CONTACT info on both sides and i have been trying to make one like that but dont know where to make them
Without real A/B testing both opinions are just that - opinions. I suggest setting down opinion and picking up actual facts. And sign design must be tested for the location. What works outside a school while parents sit bored in line to pick up a child and what works at a busy intersection when nobody has time to read or can’t see letters under 6” tall will likely be totally different signs. Easy way to test is out one of each at each location with different numbers and keep tabs on number of calls and quality of lead. ANYTHING else is just opinion. Test.
I think you can do that even better, Remove the stock house picture, remove all services. Just play with your logo, branding colors, slogan and phone number. Your sign looks good, but for me it's looks to busy. Maybe if you just add a headline like Need a power washing service? Your logo Company colors Slogan and phone number 💯 .
Gonna need a magnifying glass to see that number my man. They aren’t gonna take the time to read that because they have 3 seconds to even look at your sign from the car before the red light turns green. There’s a reason you keep it simple. Multiple people well over 6 figures do that just from service and phone number. Multiple case studies. Going against the grain on this one.
I disagree. You had way too much info text crammed in to catch the attention of a car driving by. Billboards are HUGE for a reason. When dealing with much smaller signage space; you need quick simple messaging to grab a driver moving 30 miles per hour. You "TMI" sign details are more important to your ego than a non-invested driver. Your signs look like business cards with too much info. Even Giant billboards keep it simple, ie "Got Milk", "Better Call Saul", etc....
I don’t remember. There’s a bunch of people you can use. And you can see their work. Dosent have to be fancy. Branding, services, colors maybe pictures. Point is don’t be bland on your yard signs
Thank you a ton that helps a lot are use just the regular signs right now I’ve gotten 20 or 30 jobs off it but I can see those signs being even better.
That’s awesome brotha! I’m not saying that plain old signs won’t work, I’m saying that if you put a little bit more effort into it you can get a better client, more clients. Plus even more so they will get to know your brand everywhere they go.
This is extremely wrong in my opinion your signs are too busy no one has time to stop and read all that . The more simple, the better company, name, service and phone number the rest they can Google for details or call.
Your wrong about yard signs 😂 many high ticket jobs off a HOUSE Washing and number. Plus when people are driving they're not going to be able to read all your services and brand and website and all that other stuff.
Okey-dokey. To each their own. I agree with you about driving by and not being able to read. That’s why if you watch the video I specifically said to put them on intersections where people come to a stop. I strictly advise against putting them on a 30 mile an hour roadway.
