On BudgetEDH we build fun and optimized commander decks with a pre-set budget in mind. In this week's episode we build a $100 Budget (excluding Yarok's price) Yarok, the desecrated Deck from the new Magic the Gathering set M20. Yarok is a value driven commander that you can build a few different ways. We chose to lean heavily on enter the battlefield effects, landfall and draw engines to generate maximum value over the course of the game. Our win-con is turning creatures sideways and out valuing our opponents over the course of the game!

Nissa, Vital Force emblem won't trigger multiple times due to Yarok, emblems are not permanents. Panharmonicon isn't exactly the same as Yarok, more like a Yarok lite. It wont trigger from land fall, only creatures and artifacts. Just wanted to point that out, great deck tech though. Another really good card under 2$ is Risen Reef, it triggers when it enters and other elementals, your commander is an elemental. It also goes crazy with Zendikar's Roil.

With Yarok in play Fertilid, Lotus Cobra, and Evolution Sage have a very good loop that can pull all of the basic lands out of the deck.

I like the idea but having Evo sage just for this seems very unlikely. Fertilid is one of the only cards able to benefit from proliferation. As for the bounce land combo you have at least 3 different cards to represent each part of the combo making for at least 12 cards that combo together, and that's not even all the other cards that support it. I made my deck for 30$ and have had almost more fun than any of my other decks

Yarok is a lot of fun, you generate so much value from all the double triggers, that it makes gameplay a lot of fun!

@@BudgetEDH I'm thinking of adding things that can clone artifacts and adding Mana rocks or a helm of the host for pure shenanigans. I run a lot of creature clones that can copy and creature on field and it gets crazy. The MVP is the thief that has the palinchron ability of (2UU)-Return to hand so you can get multiple etbs with multiple creatures plus it blinks the creature it copies on its attack, and doesn't even have to do combat damage!

That’s funny, my Yarok deck is almost identical but added a few more cards over budget into the deck. Field of the Dead, Spark Double, Helm of the Host and Kaya’s Ghostform all sync amazingly with Yarok as well!

This deck looks just amazing! It's always nice to see some budget options, thank you for that. As a deck idea, could you make Gargos next? It could be fun see budget take on him and on mono-G in general, especially since mana base is so cheap even with some utility added :)

One correction, I’m pretty sure that yarok does not double up with nissa’s emblem because emblems are not considered permanents and yarok does say permanent

I know it's a 4 card combo but for budget it's amazing. Any land etb trigger that has value/draw/tokens. Retreat to Coralhelm? Coralhalm? A bounce land and a creature that Tap: put land into play. With Yarok on feild you tap to put a bounce land into play getting two untap triggers and two (ob nix/baloth/tatiyova/cobra) triggers. Return the bounce land and another basic and tap the creature to put the land and bounce land into play (the 2nd land from 2nd untap thanks to Yarok) And rinse and repeat for inf damage/4-4 beasts/Mana/draw triggers/ life gain. It's complicated to explain on mobile but just read Any bounce land, Retreat to Coralhelm, Walking Atlas, and Rampaging Baloths. You don't need Yarok to do the combo but it speeds things up big time. I used tatiyova and lotus cobra to V.Wealth all my opponents thanks to this and the deck cost me 30$

Yeah, that is a great combo, and definitely a direction you could go with the deck! There are a lot of combos with Yarok, and landfall slots in nicely.

Crater hoof behemoth doesn't give haste to your creatures this is a common mistake most players do, due to the haste keyword.

How many lands do I put in a commander deck? I’m building a 30$ Yarok deck and I’ve never made a commander deck before.

The version I made has 35. I would say 35-37 is a good number. If your going more the landfall strategy that some Yarok decks go, then I'd put more in. Good luck with the deck! :)

Depends on your budget. If its low budget, then basics and perhaps some pain lands would suffice. Plenty "enters tapped" lands that are cheap as well. If you can splurge, shock lands are worth the investment.
