You’d think he was still the leader and just gave this interview last week since the struggle for liberation is still going on in 2023. May Allah be pleased with our fearless brother Arafat.
You mean Arabs. Arafat was trained by the kgb and put in place in the West Bank to cause chaos in the region and a strategy to destabilize democracies across the world. The whole Palestinian movement is fraud. A senior plo leader once said there’s no diff between Syrians Jordanians Lebanese and Palestinians. It was only ever used for tactical reasons to oppose isrsels existence. So sick of everyone and their stance with Palestinians who are just Arab settlers no different than Jordanians or Syrians. There’s nothing in Israel that ties them to the land historically.
He was trained by the kgb and put in place to cause chaos and destabilize and create more tension in thee Middle East. He was no freedom fighter. The whole Palestinian movement is based off a lie
well honestly nothing actually changed from both sides since the civil war ended in May 2009. Leaders from both sides have no constructive long time plan to maintain peaceful and stability in the Island. The government is not interested in identifying Tamils and recognizing their fundamental rights. It is actually a mess. overall there is no actual cross fire for now but people just surviving. Thank you for your interest in the issue. @@johnxina5126
@@usernameis9157 He was close with Rajapaksa, because he thought Rajapaksa was native Srilankan race and Prabakaran was immigrant race. But its the opposite. Prabakaran was Eelam Tamil native Srilankan race, and Rajapakse was converted Telugu immigrants who later identified themselves as Sinhalese race. Sadly Yasser Arafat did not realize this fact.
@@michaelb1348 You make no sense. If you live in Palestine no amount of money changes the fact that you are living in occupation/oppression. Money does not take that fact away.
Peace is made by enemies, and almost always by generals. Peace is not made between friends. And when you make peace with your enemy it does not turn you into friends, at least not immediately. But enemies can respect each other. This is what Mandela taught us. On coming out of his 27 year imprisonment, he could have ordered the fighters of the ANC's Umkhonto We Sizwe, its military wing, to kill every white man and woman in sight. He didn't; and many ANC cadres today still believe the road to peace as misguided, that they made too many compromises and that they should have continued fighting. But both sides realized that a military option was just not viable. Even then, many remain bitter and embittered. But Mandela and his colleagues felt a need to rise above their enemies. You can make peace without losing sight of your principles, but doing so while honoring your fight for freedom, and staying true to the principles of a liberation struggle. As the saying goes, making peace requires a courage that rises with danger. Not many have that kind of courage.
I am Greek and in 1923 when Greece gave up its irredentist ambitions to reclaim all of the Byzantine Empire. Pm Venizleos singed a treaty that required that 1.5 million Greek Orthodox people who had been living in Turkey for 100's of years were moved in a population exchange to Greece. Many did not speak Greek beyond the liturgical Greek we all learned attending Church. And 400-500,000 Muslims were removed from Greece, very few speaking Turkish. Neither group was allowed to return to their original location. It was painful, and difficult. But Greece had fought a War for Independence from The Ottoman Empire in the 1800s for 10 long years and won back most of the land on the mainland. In the Balkan Wars in the early 1900s, Greece gained back much more. The conflicts leading up to the agreement led to the slaughter of some 800,000 Greeks and at some point, there has to be peace so that each nation can go forward, develop, and care for their people. It's not easy. My grandmother lived through the Balkan Wars in the Epirus which finally became part of Greece. It was a long ugly struggle. It takes great courage to forge a solution and move forward.
Arafat was such a character. He would be devastated at what has happened to his people since his passing. I hope one day Palestinians can have a country and be able to honour him.
some of the things he said at the interview have so much value, for instance when speaking about the way of the settlers established in 1948 and what happeed since then.
The questions that the interviewer is asking Arafat would not be asked of any other human or political leader in a democratic state anywhere in the world.. it’s incredible to him that the Palestinians would want or need or deserve democracy or self determination.. you can hear it in his voice he doesn’t seem convinced that Palestinians deserve to be seen or treated as humans.. why has Arafat been so hated when all he’s asking is what any other human would ask for his future generations.. todays situation was what he was trying to prevent for Palestinians 💔💔💔💔💔
he protested against the violent way the settlers established in 1948, and what happened since then, which is more of the same. He clearly fought for Palestine's rights, and in a way his example is still alive. Now, in every conflict there is owful things happening and that's why war is so condemnable. But peaceful settle to this conflict is what every reasonable person wanted, sadly Israeli and US politicians are always stimulating the opposite.
Ya but the bible says this it's Jewish land, and since you can't go against god, that is the reason why it's not Arab people's land. Once every Jew returns to Israel, then Jesus can finally come back and send every non believer to hell, and give Jews the chance to finally accept Jesus, so our lord can finally accept them into his kingdom and we call all live in peace, as long as every person on earth accepts Jesus.
today we know those talking points are coordinated and the tone in the voice you hear, indicated what happened, all question rethorical, they never were supposed to get that state and they didnt.
Arafat is and was always my hero, he advocated for my motherland's (Namibia) independence. And the mention of Namibia by him in this interview shows that he had us in mind always. Rest well my hero.
We find in reality though, this: Despite the proliferation of employees, Arafat still made most decisions himself, down to the tiniest details. To take but one example, senior PA officials needing small sums of money to travel to neighboring Jordan could not get the disbursement without Arafat’s signature.45 As one public figure in Gaza explained in August 1994, one month after Arafat’s arrival: "_There is no mechanism that functions in Gaza as it should. One person holds all the authority, and he sticks his nose into each and every detail.... Anybody who needs to install a telephone needs his signature. Anyone who wants to set up a company or further a particular interest has to have Arafat’s approval._" Under these conditions, corruption flourished, fueled not only by run-of-the-mill venality but also by a systemic political motivation: Bolstering loyalty to the man who stood atop the PA hierarchy.
“Do you think Palestine can live peacefully in two states resolution? This reporter made the same question in different forms over and over and over. And Arafat reply was always, yes.

He seemed like a cool dude. Im sorry this current thing (and past atrocities happened). I never really understood the situation until recently. I still dont. American politics is aggravating enough. Geo pol is a different story. I personally, disavow my country and Israel for their treatment of the Palestinians. It is not right.
There is nothing more beautiful than listening to an interview with a brave and intelligent man. There is nothing more enjoyable than hearing about the desire for peace from a warrior man. A natural fighter. This is how Arafat and all the men of the Palestine Liberation Organization were. The Palestinians will never forget this man. Despite - and even because of - the many false leaders after him
As a naieve young boy I always liked him, but also believed the media frame. As an older man I see a great human being and an oblivious, nobody journalist. Im sorry if I still sound naive, but look at the setup for this interview. Mr Interviewer is behind a big shiny desk, while the leader of a people is sitting on a chair.. Yet Arafat ate him alive ;) Thanks for the video.
How he's leadership, cool head and experience is missed, especially in the current horrific situation in Israel. may Allah SWT grant him a high place in Jannah.

In 2000, President Clinton sat down with former Israeli Prime Minister Barak, Yasser Arafat, basically offered Mr. Arafat 94, 96 percent of the West Bank and he said no, and in effect died a terrorist rather than the first leader of a Palestinian state. What gives us any hope that the Palestinians will make any concessions which can bring about a true peace?

You should research who invented the Word Palestine. The Romans did It. Palestinians were Jews, Muslims and Christians in that Area. Arafat reinvented the Word just to fit his Agenda and Antisemitism. By the way Arafat is a disgrace for every Muslim.

Now, this is real journalism. What is the interviewer's name? One of America's best !!! My brother, Tommy Wayne Wheeler, was on the American USS Liberty Navel Ship AGTR-5, 1967 6-day war that was bombed by Israel. A book by James M. Ennis Jr., and documentaries about the American ship, what happened? The attack lasted for more than two hours by the Israelis killing 34 Americans and wounding 171 others and inflicted 821 and machine guns holes in the ship. And when the Liberty stubbornly reamined afloat despite her damage, Israeli forces machined - gunned her life rafts and sent helicopters to finish the job, At this point, with the Sixth Fleet rescue aircraft was in route, the government of Israel apologized and the attacking forces withdrew. Only then did the identity of the assailants be known. Details were hussed up by both countries. The Johnson administration covered it up with Israel. That 6-day war is when the Golan Heights were taken over. All the American Navel Men had to swear under oaths, never to say what actually happened. Thank you, for reminding me.
Fascinating that the interviewer acknowledges that Palestinian resistance is totally non-violent, but they were still being gunned down by the IDF and its settlers. No wonder he asks how long can Palestinians maintain that strategy.
