I show the paint sprayer in action. It is hard to see the nice smooth, with no large paint splotches, on the test piece I spray in this video, but it does a very good job. I would rather put two light coats or even three coats, than try do it all, in one coat, and end up with runs and/or drips.
For some unknown reason these old signs, once they are painted with Kilz2 and perhaps other water based paints as well, a stain suddenly shows up. A second or even a third coat of Kilz2 will not cover this stain.
This stain is not caused by the sprayer. I have actually used a brush to paint these old signs and have seen the same stain show up. So the stain has nothing to do with the sprayer. Perhaps it is the glue that holds the black paper to the plywood or most likely the plywood itself releases tannins.
Tannins Internet explanation: Brownish or tan discoloration on the paint surface due to migration of tannins from the substrate (e.g., the surface that was painted) through the paint film.
I show how easy it is to clean the YATTICH paint sprayer. First remove the paint cup, clean it out with a brush and by shaking and dumping the paint and water out. Once the cup looks clean, add some clean water and spray it through the sprayer to remove the internal paint. I like to turn the flow knob back to the maximum flow position during this cleaning process. Once the spray is free of paint, remove the cup again and disassemble the sprayer. Clean the individual parts as shown in the video.
Since the cylinder part has been cleaned and wiped dry, I like to add Sil-Glyde or Vaseline to the O-ring before re-assembling. This will help keep the O-ring pliable and make it easy to remove and connect the cylinder part to the gun.
