Just finished a mono black zombie deck with Liliana Heretical Healer as commander. But i do have Dr Yawg in there because the deck revolves around tokens, sac-ing them, reanimation, and draining opponents. You think it would be better if i made the good doctor my new commander and just keeping lili in the normal creatures roster? Great videos btw. I learned a lot from your guides. (Helped a lot when i was building my mono black edh)
Yawgmoth is the commander option from Modern Horizons that I'm most excited about. I was thinking about putting Magistrate's Scepter in deck. Also I was wondering if you guys took a look at the Thraximundar deck list I linked you
It looks good for a budget list, I would cut the creatures that sacrifice themselves end of turn like Skizzix, and I don't think you need Impale either, it's just too expensive. You should try out Fleshbag Marauder, Plaguecrafter, and Merciless Executioner for creature removal. I'm also a big fan of Innocent Blood since it's just so cheap to cast. Mortician Beetle is a nice cheap sacrifice matters card if you're looking for that kind of thing. I would cut Storm Strike since it's just too low impact. One thing your deck could use is some solid card draw. Off the top of my head some budget cards that would be easy to acquire that draw cards well in your colors would be Chemister's Insight and Painful Truths. And for ramp, obviously the signets are good but if you can't get those then just complete your three locket cycle to start, and gradually get more ramp as you go.
so some other cards i really like for the deck are priest of forgotten gods, pitiless plunderer, vindictive vampire, ruthless knave, krav, the unredeemed
true. i'd add an eldrazi titan to shuffle my yard back in with yawgs discard ability. you can even use that for other stuff to generate inf mana like some gitrog decks do
love the deck! just one question: do you have some good cards to fight hate? this deck would get a lot of splashdamage in my meta, since everyone is prepared to deal with tasigur, muldrotha, meren, gitrog, edgar, queen marchesa etc. stuff like torpor orb, RIP, cursed totem etc arent omnipresent, but some of those pieces will show up during a game for sure. i never build a monoblack deck before, but as far as i can tell black has a pretty hard time fighting interaction. maybe stuff like o-stone? would love to hear your opinion about that!
I had thought we added O-Stone, I would definitely recommend that to help deal with the hate. Perilous Vault could also be solid. I think if you wanted to, you could easily take out the graveyard subtheme of this deck to avoid RiP and graveyard hate like that. Seems like Cursed Totem is the worst one for this deck to deal with!
