Maybe you should stop thinking how to technically deliver with emotion and just simply relate to the song. It's more about feelings, and the technical skills will usually take over appropriately. Morissette did such a good job here, I can't listen through the whole thing without getting teary eyed. And I listened to this like 20 times already.

I think the technic in singing is sometimes to give an emotions and convictions not just only the technic itself. Although the technic is dependends of what song it is we are singing. In this song I will prefer to have emotions because it is like a prayer it is for God and giving all of yours to God is what that song is special.
