I saw another tech (AERVBlog) repair one of these YC-601's the other day. There was a lot more wrong with his unit. Good job on the repair. Cheers & 73 from W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern TN

Another great video Buddy. The only thing I noticed was the audio was very low when you have the" picture in picture" part going in the video.

I fixed one of those YC-601s a couple of years ago. Mine had the old nixie style tubes. Unfortunately mine did have a bad driver chip but it only affected the second digit so the counter was still usable. Good since I have still to this day never found a replacement chip out there. My unit had a bad mixer IC which fortunately is still available for a price. Good video Buddy. Thanks.

When you replaced Q1, how did you know it wasn't another bad part that caused it to fail? If that was the case, couldn't it have destroyed the new Q1?

Could you do a video on how to change the PA tubes in an TS-520 / 820 or even the FT 101, the procedure of draining the power out of the radio before pulling the tubed ?
