This guy likes his 2 strokes but the little gem I found is the 4 stroke kits that are much quieter but since they are Honda clones, the reliability is great and having a centrifugal clutch is much easier for new riders

The beauty of these bikes is that you can carry or push your way through anything, can't do any of that with an ATV or dirt bike when push comes to shove, great video dude.
@Zomby_Woof

A proper dirt bike - hell, an old on/off road bike like the TS125 or xl125 is so much more capable that the places it would get stuck you'd never have to worry about pushing his bike through because you'd never get there to be stuck. You could ride it t the trailhead, get to the trees - turn around to get a chainsaw, come back and clear the trail, and ride to the end and take a nap while waiting for the YD to show up. I'm not saying its not worth building and riding - just that it has to be done for fun = because you like wrenching and screwing around. It's never going to be better than the vehicles it long ago evolved into.

I had a hell of a time trying to get a good tune on the stock NT type slide carbs. I ended up drilling and threading a pulse port and installing a diaphragm type carb (Walbro clone, I think). Not only did it make my motor run better through the range, but it gained a fair amount of power as well. Ditching the stock pipe and installing a modified pocket bike pipe helped quite a bit too (has a slight expansion and a very breathable muffler)

Glad i saw your post , i keep thinking same thing , do you remember walbro # or which saw it was on ? I would like to use the walbro hd12b as used on the husqvarna 372xp , 71cc chainsaw . Also how did you couple the carb to motor and where did you drill pulse port ? Wish i could see pictures ! The beauty of this carb is the metering screws for low and hi speed rpm's that precisely tunes fuel an air mix and easily adjusted for days of hi humidity or low humidity as humidity conditions change the tune , as well as temp . Also the diaphram carbs very sensitive to motor heat and on the saws have rubber or plastic intake manifolds . So glad to hear this !
@dmoore0079
@dmoore0079 Год назад
@@sundial6919 Sorry for the late reply. I'm using a Husqvarna 372XP carb mounted on an OZ reed valve (vertical threaded holes on the intake plate have a 31mm spread, which matches the carb perfectly. This mounts the carb right up to the intake tube). I just drilled a 1/8" hole into the crankcase, and pressed a small section of 1/8" OD aluminum tubing as a hose barb. There was some minor fabrication involved in getting a cable throttle connected, but it's been a great setup so far - especially once I converted the bottom end to case reed!

It's the solid head mixed with being high compression. I have seen lots of the one piece heads pop spark plugs out. Run them glowing red hot, and foul them out due to excessive heating. If you are going to run a 100cc kit it's best to get a cylinder with a separate head.

First I thought you had a 4 stroke engine where the gas and oil are separate. But you mixed it at the gas station. So I Figured out why your bike is giving you a challenge. It's not running rich, sort of. When you pour the oil directly into the tank it just sits very thickly. It doesn't difuse or dilute and mix with the gas properly. Then when it it gets to the carb it's too "rich" but not in gas it's in oil. I would highly suggest that you pour the oil into your "spare" tank and mix the gas and oil in that or other gas approved container and shake/mix the oil and gas. Also pour the oil in after the gas. When you need to refuel use your "spare" tank first, then refill it with gas then oil. The jostling in your pack will thoroughly mix it.
@LAHover
@LAHover 4 года назад
I normally don't fill up at a pump, I just did for my return trip. but good idea about using the back up tank to mix the gas.

I took my 4 stroke 49cc 2-3hp gas bike on a 120 mile ride from mesa Arizona to pepersauce cave in mount lemon. It was crazy. I was towing a trailer with about 90lbs of camping gear and water. It took me 9 hours. About 6 to 7 riding and the rest were rest stops. Sadly I was unable to make the trip home and had to be picked up by my uncle for various reasons one being that Google maps drained my phone two times just getting there causing my battery bank to not have enough battery to last me for my trip back meaning I would have probably ended up in the middle of nowhere with a dead phone and no idea how to get back.

Try following the formula that's been around since the 70s make your lead in pipe to the expansion chamber 8 to 11 times in length the diameter of your exhaust port meaning that your expansion chamber should for sure be less than 10inches from your motor look up the two strokers bible if you wish but following this formula will give you incredible gains in low and mid power cooler running and better fuel mileage!

I like that it’s fairly quiet once the motor gets warmed up. You Mentioned some start up issues from time to time. Have you ever thought about adding a pull start as an optional way to start the engine? Didn’t hear a lot of gear noises. As far as noise itself goes I’ve heard about putting cardboard inside the gearbox. Maybe you might look into putting some sort of splash guards in front. If they can be made out of a sound deadening it might help make the bike More stealthy. Is there anything you can wrap around the downpipe to help reduce noise and vibrations? Regular car engines have Rubberized motor mounts. Would putting something like a piece of inter tube under the motor mounts do the same? Maybe if you wrap the entire down tube in rubber might reduce noise and vibrations even further.

Best thing about nowadays is cameras for sure. When I was a kid I remember getting messed with by people like that all the time. There were abandoned railroad tracks near my house that people drove dirt bikes on. They took the tracks out 15-20 years before I started riding there. People would call the cops all the time which was super annoying because we weren’t bothering anyone but the “Karen’s” had nothing better to do. One of the last times that I actually stopped for a cop I said dude were not bothering anyone people should be happy we’re not causing trouble like all the other young kids out stealing stuff from stores, doing drugs and what not we’re just putting around on our dirt bikes. This cop was actually cool and said do me a favor try to stay away from the areas of the tracks where people’s houses are. Another time a lady said we were driving in her backyard for hours and when we told the cop we didn’t even go on her property and he only passed by 2 times quickly he didn’t believe us and said he’s gonna take our bikes . I said you ain’t taking shit why would we stay here when there are the sand pits with tons of cool trails just a mile up the road? Isaid let’s go in her backyard to see tire tracks because if we were back there for hours there will be tracks well the cop got aggravated said I’ll let u go this time but next time I’m taking the bikes so we never once stopped again.

Thank You for the gas tank trick. I didn't have any spare bad tube around...so... I used a couple layers of gasket material and cut some rings out. It works! I'm about 45 minutes from that trail and would like to give it a shot. At least one of the better sections when its cool and dry at the same time (good luck with tha, right?). Did you say you needed a permit?

Well Friend I have good news for you. Although it might not feel like it depending on how deep in the city you live. But California is 45.8% Federal land, and has relaxed laws for these motorized bikes. This means that you don't need to worry about being harassed by cops (assuming you follow traffic laws and stay under 25mph on public roads). It also means that you can explore ALLOT of places without the fear of trespassing.

What’s a rough estimate of top speed of this motor?
@maltfoto
@maltfoto Год назад
Very Informative Video, It convinced me that these 2 stroke motors because of the 4 stroking issue at lower RPM would not be very good for a trail riding. Most trail riding is done at slower speeds and these motors would burn up prematurely from the 4 stroking and lack of cooling at the the slower speeds. Especially in hotter weather. A much better option would be an electric mountain bike!!!!!!

Hi what should I do if my chain keeps snapping and breaking or falling off the sprocket every 2 miles
@eagle-ik3rw
@eagle-ik3rw Год назад
Making sure the chain is true from the motor to the rear sprocket and the chain tensioner agrees with that line. Took me several times to find that perfect alignment. Had to slightly adjust the motor to make sure the chain was level and true. I made a line tool with a piece of an old tape measure that was stiff enough to lay on top of the chain to make a straight line. Also checked the link to make sure it was secure . Had to adjust the level of the chain tensioner so the chain would ride flat in the center.

That was a nice trail ride. 58 miles, how much fuel did you use. This would be a perfect example to give actual Mpg. LA, it is time that you built a shed to put your Bikes in. That would be another Video on how to build a shed ( from timber from the Mill) LA style.
@LAHover
@LAHover 4 года назад
Judging by how much was left in the tank when I gassed up I can safely say this bike/motor combo can easily get 80mpg. It would have made 40 miles on that 2 liter tank for sure. And you are correct, I need to build a shed lol, been wanting to do it for a while now.

I want that NT carb. I got the bofang and I am pretty sure I cant do jetting without soldering and drilling on the bofang, correct? Also where did you aquire that exaust? Or at least the piping so I can make a custom exhaust using the factory flange. I need to learn more about expansion chambers etc, first so I know how to build a proper custom. Exaust. Otherwise I'm going with the Mz65 clone pipe with the amazon silencer. The feed back is promising enough. Mine is an 80cc, all decked and ported. I am a small engin mechanic but there is a lot to learn with the moterized bikes to run them properly and keep em running. Regardless I do want to learn how to make custom exaust for these motors.

Hey wondering if anyone here could help me out, I just replaced my carburettor and now whenever I open the fuel thingy I see fuel run down into the carb but it doesn’t fill the filter or drip down that quickly in general. The bike will start but it’s super boggy at any speed and won’t idle for long even if I turn the idle screw all the way in. The fuel line that came with the bike has shrunk in the areas that aren’t connected to anything and it easily comes off from the carb / filter. This leads me to believe there is some sort of air leak in the fuel hose not letting enough fuel into the engine but I’m not too sure. (I’ve already tried using another carb) Thanks for your help 😁
@GeorgiaRidgerunner
@GeorgiaRidgerunner 4 года назад
Well if your fuel lines are loose replace them... You said your fuel flow is slow that sounds like you may have a blockage somewhere also take your gas cap off see if the fuel flow increases any if so your fuel cap is defective
@AhmedMohammed-qv4wh
@AhmedMohammed-qv4wh 4 года назад
Thanks I’ll give that a try and pickup some new tubing
@derekpirie9188
@derekpirie9188 4 года назад
Replace all fuel pipes with the clear reinforced pipe ( the stock pipe that comes with the kit, hardens and if there is any bends, will restrict the flow) and filter for a motorcycle one . Check that the fuel cap is not blocked, if blocked then the fuel will not flow .
@LAHover
@LAHover 4 года назад
When you replace your fuel line try to make sure the filer is as vertical as possible (and not backwards), trapped air can certainly be blocking your fuel flow. Also try running without the filter for a little bit just to make sure the issue is not something else.
