This song has a special history. Laxmikant Pyarelalji were initially not satisfied with Kishore da's attempt. Kishore da sat a bit upset [resting his head over his palms] and started humming. Laxmi-Pyareji said, exactly, this is the way you have to sing dada. Dada sang it in that hand head position. I have also sung it in the same Dada's manner. The link I can't give here. But this is the toughest cover song I have ever sung. Though it looks very simple, yet it is not so. If you sing this song casually then it is a mess. Singing movie song is tougher than singing classical, sometimes.
This particular song even Lata di has sung specially for Kishore da.... One should listen to that song too. Its simply superb. Your voice too has a flowing quality sir... 🙏 🙏 🙏

Everyone should watch your video in its entirety and not just the song portion. And thank you for shining a spotlight on this particular “soft” number which kind of tends to get overshadowed as far as the masses are concerned by a lot of Kishoreda’s more obvious huge “commercial” mass hits. What folks do not realize and which only singers might realize is it is SO DIFFICULT to render this song the way Kishoreda has done it. You are absolutely right about that water analogy he just makes it “flow” and the endings of each line are done with such delicate finesse and magical touch yet the soul and meaning of each line he delivers with so much clarity he just makes the entire song a living breathing awesome entity in its own right and that …many singers have attempted with this song but obviously no one has been able to replicate it. Somewhere or other each rendition even by great playback singers like Sonuji falls short. You are an absolutely top tier classical singer and you are doing an enormous service shining a spotlight on “pop”songs through your expert classical lens. Me and my wife are great fans of yours ….so kudos to you and of course your team and your daughter…..you guys all create just amazing heartwarming magic together, please keep doing this……..🙏🙏🙏

I'm a Sri Lankan and love Hindi music. and crazy towards your 70s and 80s. I also sing a bit. Your version of singing such songs is really an eye opener. And the weight you delivered is extremely difficult to bare as I quite understand and feel what you say. The way you used the language is wonderful and economical. Words fail us to say how wonderful they are.
