I honestly feel bad for Yuna. My heart broke when she said she’ll have to suck her stomach in to look thinner when she looks perfectly normal and not at all “bloated”. @@aromagl yea but I’m very skinny and I dislike when people say stuff like “you need to gain weight” It bothers me and makes me uncomfortable and self conscious. As for Yuna obviously she knows that she’s very skinny. No one needs to tell her that, if your a K-pop idol you usually have to be very skinny, and saying things like “you need to gain weight” wont necessarily help. Most people that skinny either won’t stop even if someone tells them to, or Ben if there life is at risk. That will result in worse things for them mentally and physically. It’s best to try different approaches like having them see a doctor or therapist.
Yeji wasn’t even playing for the camera when she scolded Yuna (gently I would add) about getting some food. You could tell by Yuna’s reaction that it probably wasn’t the first time either.

Didn’t anyone catch that comment Yuna said during the photoshoot where she said her belly was sticking out because she ate pasta even if it was not? 😢 That is one of the signs of an ED. She sees a different body from what other people see. This is something that should be taken seriously.
What Yeji did is totally right, but maybe she shouldn't have said on camera, however it sounds like they had this conversation before and Yuna avoids the topic all the time so maybe doing it on camera was the only way for her to take her seriously
Yuna would not need to be so overly obsessed with her appearance if the trolls of Korea (the absolute WORST of the bunch) were not so obsessed with her. That is being a professional right there! Also it seems that conversation between Yeji and Yuna is something that has already happened which is why we can see Yuna's reaction and I can see Yeji being pretty concerned.
Weight is a very sensitive subject and if you're not a family member, a closest friend, or a doctor, then as a fan be respectful by being supportive rather than being subjective because behind the scenes of every idol is a real person who is different than their on-screen self.

Yuna has been borderline anorexic a couple of times now. All members had insane weight loss during Sneakers era but somehow managed to maintain a balance since. You can tell Yuna is super underweight at the moment by her exposed acromion and clavicle towards the shoulder. However, unlike other idols I don't feel like this negatively impacts her stage presence, overall finesse and endurance during concerts. As far as self-reflection goes, she seems to genuinely love her physique and thrives in it and the positive attention that comes with it. That's why I'm less concerned about her than let's say WY, who appears to be a marketing shell pushed to be skinny.
I still worry for her. Naturally thin or not, there IS a line; stay on one side of it, everything is fine for years to come. Cross that line and she will start collapsing or entirely passing out on stage due to lack of energy.
All of itzy (specially maknae line) have shown signs of disordered eating and negative body image. Yeji seems to be the one who shows this behaviour the least or not at all (on camera). I know a lot of people want to believe that the hundreds of idols out there are naturally underweight, but that's not true and very unrealistic. I would love to see my girls change their attitude towards food and weight but looking at the idol industry that seems unlikely.
@@bibiandagomes5656 yea, esp with yuna and chaeryeong. they go out of their way to eat less and yeji is always the one to scold them for it. i do think though that is they gain a little bit of weight at least to be on par with yeji, they would be okay. yeji has a good weight, but she never gets hate for her weight bc even she is relatively skinny. so if yuna could maintain that weight, i don't think she would be too hated for it
I think with the industry standard coupled with how much stress they are under due to their work and busy life, it could be hard for Yuna to have a healthy eating habit and to gain weight. She could also possibly have a fast metabolism. Sometimes, stress can cause some to eat more or not eat at all, and she says she enjoys sleeping more - which is usually what busy people do at times. They use their time to either sleep or eat. I noticed many idols dropping much weight when they started working and touring so much more. I think Yeji definitely expressed it out of concern and trying to help her see that it is okay to gain some weight during their travels, also if they want to enjoy food in places like Paris. I sense that being an idol, they try to keep to a specific weight, even if they may not get weighed anymore- it was what they had to live with to make it to where they are. The industry is a tough place to try to find a balance between healthy diet while under stress and public criticism to have a perfect image.
Yuna does try to eat a lot (for a young lady) but I think her metabolism is just too high. Her figure is insanely perfect but her ribs do stick out sometimes when she performs. Yeji is always looking out and taking good care of her members, like a good older sister or mom would. ☺ Felt so bad for ITZY the week they went to Paris. They had back to back opening world tour concerts in Seoul, then had to rush to Paris, then rushed back to Korea, then to China for a fansign. They were also freezing the entire time in France because they were in skimpy outfits, while everyone else were wearing jackets and coats.
You're literally contradicting what Yeji, a person who spends lots of time with Yuna, said. If she noticed that Yuna didn't really eat as much as she claims, then she's probably right.
I agree with what the person above me said. Apart from that, it is extremely evident that Yuna cares a lot about her body. I mean I get it, she becomes a trend almost every day in Korea for having an amazing body. Being complimented so much on her body makes her feel like she has to maintain that particular figure. A lot of people with EDs (not saying Yuna has one) tend to use the excuse of having a "high metabolism".. Sure, one can have a high metabolism, but it never goes to the extent of making someone THAT skinny. A lot of people using these excuses for idols (which result in the idols using them too) do not understand how a metabolism works. By saying this, you're indirectly making her continue this unhealthy behaviour. I know you didn't intend to do that, but please understand what I'm trying to say.
Even if she does have high metabolism, given the busy schedules, heavy dance routines and frequent practices, their diet should be one that provides enough energy to et through all that. For someone with such as physically straining job, their diet shouldn't be like someone's who doesn't do much physical activity right??
Did something in the beauty standards in Korea change or why is it that idols that were already skinny and perfect for the standard like Yuna and Wonyoung feel the need to be even more underweight nowadays? The idols you mentioned are very likely to have body image issues and disorders. Wonyoung's state is very concerning, I can't look at her instagram anymore.
It was from 8-9 years There's a big preference for cute girl underweight, it beggins with group like twice blackpink (g)-idle and other from 3rd gen and every new group from look (very often) like that because fans in asia (because it rest the best market for k pop) love that And if in america you see that more than before it's because kpop is know everywhere more than in the past and tendance from kpop too and when everyone see how skinny (and beautiful) kpop idols are of course there's that want look like that to feel better in his/her body

I'm sorry but I don't and will never believe the "she's naturally skinny" thing. I know some naturally skinny girls and I am one myself but don't tell me kpop idols are healthy, no matter their weight, they all do diet and restrict their food, even if they look chubby, don't call them "healthy" cause they just took all the weight back even faster than they did lose it cause they started to eat again after starving. Yuna is in the industry since she's a child and it obviously had an impact on her.. Moreover, she's the visual so she always have to pay attention to her looks and always care about being pretty, it must be very tiring and it's a lot of pressure. you can't build a good relationship with your body and appearance in these conditions. Yuna did lose even more weight since "Sneakers" even though she was already the skinniest and she said in an interview that she weights herself every day in the morning AND at night. Weighting yourself everyday is already not an a healthy behavior, so TWICE a day ??? And now Yeji calls her out and tells her to eat more cause she doesn't eat enough ? No I'm sorry but it isn't ok at all, Yuna clearly has an ED. I don't say it to be mean, I find normal for idols to take care of their physiques since it's a part of the job, and I have nothing with being skinny, but not this way. I don't think she's skinny shaming at all, Yeji spends a lot of time with Yuna to see her eating habits and such. She knows more than we would ever know about Yuna and her habits overall. Giving the industry they're in, too, it's FAR away from skinny shaming..

Measuring ur weight once everyday is not at all a healthy behaviour and she does it TWICE . She is scared and in regrets just becoz she ate a little pasta . She wasn't rude, Yuna is underweight and it's obvious as to why, her company prioritises skinny idols with the "perfect figure". How is it suddenly rude to be concerned about your friends deteriorating health, so many idols who have been getting sick, going on hiatus and etc are extremely skinny, there are lots of health issues with this and you glossing over it helps nobody all because of your rose tinted glasses saying its fine because nothing has happened to her yet but you'll be the same people who feel iffy towards an idol who has gained a bit more weight and isn't keeping their unhealthy body. Turning a blind eye to this situation is terrible.
sorry, i think you need some glasses, but yuna is clearly underweight. do you think someone who believes that her body is bloated even though it’s not is normal? that’s an example of someone who may have body dysmorphia (not diagnosing). her body may be fine and appealing to people’s eyes, but it’s not healthy in the long term. also, yeji did the correct thing as she was just concerned. korea is so fcked up that no one would tell these girls life-changing stuff, so of course the leader has to step in.
