Personally as a black person with relatives that lived through segregation and that sort of thing, I don't think anyone should say the N word. It's not empowering. I feel like that we keep ourselves down when use it. You'll never see another group use their derogatory names as term of endearment. But hey I'm not going to tell another adult what to say.

It's the most fugly word in the English language (i.e. the N word )and it's dehumanizing asf
@TruthTellerTV
@TruthTellerTV Год назад
The word was never about “empowerment”. Anyone who tells you that trash is lying, and the explanation makes no sense. The use of the word has morphed into something else entirely today. White people shouldn’t say it because it was never for them and only used as a racial epithet. Black people don’t use it as “empowerment”, it’s just another slang word today (obviously for black man), that white people still aren’t “allowed” to say because of their usage history.

I didn't say that. It's just a word that really shouldn't be thrown around by anyone of today. No one today (at least in the U.S) has felt the actual pain of slavery. Just because there are people of the same race doesn't excuse them of doing so. And really there is no other word that is separated by race that is as sensitive as the "N" word. if there is enlighten me
@yinyang4558
@yinyang4558 7 лет назад
Adrian Jovic again if a white person can't say it then noone can? Right? That's how yall think and see it. They use the word as a term of endearment like the word bro. Considering that white people used it as a racist slur too discriminate and exercise hate against a race cause of the color of their skin for 300 years+. So yeah white people shouldn't say it. non black people have no right to say it.

That's fine if you think that way, btw if you are Asian, (im just assuming because of your name) or not black, you have no right to say it, dont even pretend to be able too. Black people would still kick your ass if you said it. I will never say the word because I have respect.

Agreed. Being from the first confederate state of the deep south, it is something that is accepted amongst us because of the struggle that our ancestors endured. We frown when other races use it because they don't share the same pain. The word was a lemon that was meant to be a derrogative, but over time has manifested into lemonade showing love for our fellow brother (in most cases) from the same trials and tribulations we've shared for over 450 years. Yelawolf knows his shit. Much respect.

I've been watching videos on the N-word all day (don't judge me) and like he said it doesn't fly in the South. I think it flies in other places because they don't have the same history. I think V-nasty is from Oakland or somewhere around that area and its a really diverse area where everybody uses it because its part of the culture. People elsewhere haven't grown up with confederate flags and police chiefs that set dogs on marchers and that's cool for them, but if they're marketing to a national audience they need to be aware.

Worst thing to happen to humans was learning how to speak and put meaning behind words. It's helped in advancing life, but the way humans communicate now is crazy. Think about it. It's been called a racist term towards dark skinned people aka African Americans. Why would that race use it among themselves? Then you add the a at the end to change it from a racist term to "bro" or "homie" and nobody can use it but your race. If any other race says it, the one race that it supposedly is defined around flips shit. Not trying to stir anything. We need to as people be able to discuss things just for the sake of discussing them. That's how we solve problems and come together as people without violence or conflict. This world now is just beyond judgemental and it seems rare to be able to just evaluate things on every level. The only way we can all make this world work is to stop jumping the gun when a controversial action occurs. And what if a white person listens to rap and they like it. The rapper says the n word in it. That person can't sing or rap it aloud because they're white? Black people are around so you gotta pause whenever the rapper says it. I think it's the black person that needs to lighten up. Some bad history and experiences can't always be the reference for why a certain race's culture is the way it is. You gotta break out of that shit. Like slavery. Don't forget or can't let it slide, but at some point you gotta move on with life. The past is the past. What you do today paints a picture tomorrow and it repeats everyday.

@filliphulles2867
@filliphulles2867 7 лет назад
Obviously, you're not getting what I said. That putting meaning behind our communication in certain ways has been used to control people. Manipulation of language, wording things a certain way, and so on. It's had benefits like you're saying how we have computers. But it's also had some negatives because people have used communication to cause corruption and put fear in others.

VERY well said. Thank you. Someone is using some sense and seeing it clearly. Tho I tend to think that its not REALLY about the word but about a lot of other things. Power, ego, ownership and the like. I personally would like it if nobody said it. But I think since only black people are "allowed" to use the word is the only reason its still in use in the vernacular of black culture.
@KronantheBarbarian
@KronantheBarbarian 10 лет назад
As a writer I'm usually hurt by my vocabulary being shunted by just one word. But I can't think of the proper context I'd ever use that word that wouldn't hurt any of the black friends I have that I love and respect. Even if I wrote a smart essay on the cultural history of that word or something. I sincerely doubt I can pull off any use of that word that would be smarter or culturally relevant than something anyone else has already said. As a writer I'd might enjoy the challenge of it but as a human with respect for my friends there are other things I'd rather write about.
