For those wondering, this was before he had the operation to remove his throat cyst, so that's probably what kept him from hitting the high notes. And I think the cracking voice gave him a sense of desperation in his singing that worked really well.
I got to see these guys in 2005 live at Daytona Beach. After the concert, they threw water bottles to the crowd and it hit me in the head. The band felt bad so they signed that bottle and gave me a beer in their tour bus. Awesome band.
I remember meeting him and watching Yellowcard at warped tour 9 years ago. Man I feel old. But this song never gets old. Beautiful! I like this version even more than the album one.
Broken this fragile thing now And I can't, I can't pick up the pieces And I've thrown my words all around But I can't, I can't give you a reason I feel so broken up (so broken up) And I give up (I give up) I just want to tell you so you know Here I go Scream my lungs out Try to get to you You are my only one I let go There's just no one that gets me like you do You are my only, my only one Made my mistakes, let you down And I can't, I can't hold on for too long Ran my whole life in the ground And I can't, I can't get up when you're gone And something's breaking up (breaking up) I feel like giving up I won't walk out until you know Here I go Scream my lungs out Try to get to you You are my only one I let go There's just no one who gets me like you do You are my only, my only one Here I go So dishonestly Leave a note For you, my only one And I know you can see right through me So let me go and you will find someone Here I go Scream my lungs out Try to get to you You are my only one I let go There's just no one, no one like you You are my only, my only one My only one My only one My only one You are my only, my only one
best yellowcard song ever. love the fact the look on his face when he finally realizes he can't hit those notes anymore (around 3:55) really puts extra meaning into the song for me. i mean, he really is screaming his lungs out!
yes he may have struggled some at the end, but most lead singers have tough moments like this in the studio. Also, most of you pay no attention to how emotional this song is. No songwriter could sing this song without being emotional. This song brings me to tears so much, and the fact that he could sing it without tearing himself is pretty amazing.
Bless his heart. I can only imagine how miserable he must have felt singing. But he did anyways, and he still sounded 20 times better than I ever will.
I watched them in concert a couple months back and they sounded fantastic...I was surprised cause when ever i would hear versions of them live it always sounded bad but they were really stunning that night :D
