Very cool 👌😎. This song really makes me 😊 but also 😢 thinking about the love of my life.. I let get away. She is in LA 🇺🇸 and I’m in the UK 🇬🇧. We met on Yahoo! Pool in 2001 when I was in a heath crisis.. she saved me and I went on to spend months at a time in SoCal. We’re still in touch despite me being separated and her married, 23 years later. Definitely “My Telescope”! 🥲🌍💙🇬🇧🇺🇸. Anyway, sorry for rambling. Much love to you and Uncle Mark.. I’m sure he’s proud of you watching from the higher planes of love 💙🙏😇 xx
so I discovered Yellowcard completely by chance like 7 years ago (flatout 2 soundtrack) and since then they have become my favourite band, I've seen them live twice (personally I think that's amazing because I live in Yorkshire and that means I usually have to travel over 150 miles to actually see decent bands live) I have their entire back catalogue on CD, there have been times in my life that the music of yellowcard has helped me through and for that I am forever thankful of them Yellowcard
Wow, a lot changed in 4 years. A lot. I've now seen them live 5 times, met them once, seen Ryan on his solo tour and met him. Still got all of their albums on CD more than half of them signed. I read part of this song at my grandad's funeral. I was asked if I could read a poem and I agreed on the one condition I could choose what it was. I don't know if anyone is reading this or not but if they are, thank you for coming here and reading the comments and listening to this song and supporting the legacy of this amazing band #RIPYC
This was the song that was meant directly to the fans...Thanks for sticking and having hope with us...But we as fans were the telescope and we failed....Sorry Yellowcard. We love you....Always and forever
i love that Ryan puts everything he is feeling into songs. whether its about a relationship, break up, trying to get a girl, trying to forget, or if its about a personal family issue, he always manages to make amazing songs. songs that really grasp the fans, and me. lol. the snowboarding girl he is dating right now should really know how lucky she is, whoever she might be...
I've been here a while Staring at this screen wondering what I'll write Things I can't explain But should've tried to say when I had the time You were inspiration When no one else believed You showed me strength in my skin That no one else could see Let's just keep driving on All the stars jumping in through the windows Let's go where we belong Headed fast as we can for the unknown I remember how Like a telescope you could always find (You could always find) Something worth a wish You said every day's a gift and we'll be alright (We'll be alright) And something took you from me I can't understand why But wherever you're resting (I'm carrying) I'm carrying your line Let's just keep driving on All the stars jumping in through the windows Let's go where we belong Headed fast as we can for the unknown You can stay there And it's not fair Those were the days when we laughed all the while When the fireflies Lit up our skies Those were the nights when the world made us smile My only hope You're my telescope My only hope You're my telescope My only hope You're my telescope My only hope You're my telescope Let's just keep driving on All the stars jumping in through the windows Let's go where we belong Headed fast as we can for the unknown You can stay there And it's not fair Those were the days when we laughed all the while When the fireflies Lit up our skies Those were the nights when the world made us smile My only hope You're my telescope (My only hope) (You're my telescope) My only hope You're my telescope (My only hope) My only hope You're my telescope
Yellowcard always make a sad-goodbye song in their albums. View In Heavens, how I Go, Sing For Me, See Me Smiling, and Telescope, it's all so touching and made me almost cry. I think they're good at it.. :)
5 years ago i discovered them by hearing Breathing. i felt in love with this band, they're the best! their songs are exactly what i need, what i want, what i like. love listening to them especially at late night and while driving! see you in ROMA Yellowcard on the 21st of February! i can't wait for that!
My mom passed away unexpectedly on the morning of April 12, and since then it's been surreal that she's even gone. This song has giving me so much hope to not give up, and to keep her amazing legacy going. I'd love to tell you guys in person how much this song means to me and how amazing you are, but I guess this will have to do. Thanks, Yellowcard, from a very grateful fan since '03.
it's funny how i think i've seen most of the videos playing in the background. this is too much emotion for me to handle. i can't explain in words how much ryan means to me. he inspires me by how strong he is. i love you so much.
Today is my birthday. I just found out that Yellowcard is coming to town and I'm going to meet them before the show. And this amazing video for my favorite song on Southern Air just came out. Thank you Yellowcard for making this the best birthday ever.
Incredible Ryan Key never disappoints Yellowcard never disappoints I can watch this a thousand times and on the thousand and one-th time still be touched by the emotion in this song.
The telescope has to do with the lead singer Ryan's aunt Stephanie, who passed away during the writing process of this album. I'm not sure about the specifics, but the lyrics make it seem like he used to call her his "telescope" because she could find something good in any situation. She's mentioned in more of their songs as well (Rock Star Land, Sing For Me), so I'm guessing he was pretty close to her.
Stefan Lay I know I'm a little late to this, but she was also the only one in his family that supported him when he wanted to move out of his house and start a band. Parents might not respond well to that, especially when everyone else is doing more school, and your kid wants to become a "rock star." His aunt passed away from cancer, and as mentioned above, "Sing for Me" was written with her while she was battling cancer. Although I haven't specifically heard of him referring to this song for his aunt but it definitely fits. Based on the music video I would also say it might have to to do with his fans and the hiatus that Yellowcard took briefly before the Southern Air album. Anyway, great song! One of my favourites of all time. Would love to learn it on the guitar.
denzelnolet The hiatus was actually before When You're Though Thinking, Say Yes not Southern Air, but I agree, it could have meaning in that regard as well. If you wanna learn it on guitar, there's several tabs on ultimate-guitar. And if you have the Guitar Pro software, I've tabbed it out on that as well. It's a fun song to play for sure!
Hysteriaddict817 Awesome, thanks for the correction and I'll definitely check it out! I always have a ton of respect for tabbers. Out of curiosity, do people usually tab by ear? I've only been playing for 3-4 years and would like to know the method behind the madness.
this video is so different from anything they've done! I love it! It's like a timeline and it's inspired by his aunt so it's full of emotion. This song and video are amazing.
This is the perfect example of what separates Yellowcard from the endless wave of pop-punk in the music scene today. Instead of writing typical "fuck you, you broke my heart" songs that seem to have taken about 30 minutes to pen, Ryan spills his heart out in his songs. Ten, Telescope, Believe, View from Heaven, Shadows and Regrets, See Me Smiling, Empty Apartment. I have never seen a band spill so much emotion in to their music, and you can see it on Ryan's face. It's truly amazing.
