Yellowjackets launch new recording titled "Cohearence" ! We are very proud of this new batch of songs and we feature our new bassist, Dane Alderson. The CD is now available at Yellowjackets.com and also MackAvenue.com
I can't say enough good things about Will. I met him for the first time recently after having listened to his playing for nearly 30yrs. Such a sweet and positive guy and definitely the most musical drummer I've ever had the pleasure of listening to...
So glad I found this channel! Yellowjackets was the first music I bought by myself as a kid in the mid 80-ies and the band has been my favourite ever since!
Possibly the best recording they've done since Blue Hats. Simply a masterpiece! Fran's Scene is just class. Golden State magnificent. Whole album rocks.
Long time fan of Yellowjackets; your sound is so unique, I listen to you very often. I really like and miss Jimy Haslip, but I can handle that he is not with the band anymore, I still follow him with other musicians. But, if William Kennedy is not with you both guys Ferrante and Mintzer . For me Yellowyackets in not acceptable. The later is with much respect to all of you. "A good drummer, makes a good band" (statement made by Mark King; Base player of LEVEL 42)
When I heard Dane at first, I must admit I wasn't a fan. But after hearing this CD in the full ... WOW! This guy can play with the Jackets. He doesn't have the full (deep, round) sound that Jimmy has, but he's clean and fits in with the whole group. He's not outside the music which is how I felt when young Pastorious was with them. This is nice and another collaborative Yellowjackets hit!
What did you mean with 'outside the music', I was wondering? I truely miss Jimmy, he will always be my number 1 guy on bass for the Yellowjackets, but life goes on. If I understand it correctly you like this new guy much better than Felix P?
I'm still missing Jimmy in this great band. And I obviously know, nobody would and can replace him. After he's left the band the Bass side became very dry and Steril sound, and groove wise.Though Felix and Dane are great soloist's, but I say what I hear ..
I would encourage you to keep your mind and ears open because Dane is a true virtuoso. And I totally get loving Jimmy, he's a giant in the bass world and I've love his work with the Yellowjackets. No one can really replace him, yet time has moved on for that era of the 'Jackets. But I am lucky enough to hear Dane play locally in a number of different bands and the man is straight up funky! I think he'll relax a bit in the coming years and albums and really show you he can groove with the very best. And just wait for the on-the-fly reharms under other players' solos - he slays with that!
