by the way, rice prices. Last year I was selling for 6,000 yen per 30 kg. The quote I got today was 12,000 for 30kg. Up 100% in one year. (of course equipment prices are up as well)

I was recently reading Hoovers speeches during the 1929 crash and something he mentioned was how the purpose of the economy and trade was to redistribute commodities to our industries. The mind then randomly wonders about the global chip situation, the yen, and China. Then my imagination started wondering about the brics summit coming up, and what could happen if war happened in Taiwan prior to a brics summit. That sounds like a potential black swan and a great leverage point as to the why portion of switching to a new BRIC. Of course who knows what could happen, it sure would be convenient tho.

Agree. Very likely we r headed for a decade long bear market in all western assets. It will be a period of geopolitical n currency changes. Within US this is the chance to do the long-needed economic n social n government reforms. If we succeed, US will be on a long-term sustainable growth path in a decade. But we must take the pain 1st n do the adjustments. From investing pov, sell all US, european equities n bonds. Go long Gold and Crypto. Go long emerging market trade........ I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Francine Duguay's, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

Gold mining companies extract it from the ground (2500 to 3000 tons per year) and sell it. Otherwise, they wouldn't have a reason to exist.

It comes out of the ground. 2500 to 3000 tons of gold are mined each year. Of course, there is also the 190,000 tons of gold that have been mined throughout history.

Japanese gov't has discovered the fountain of youth. Morning newspaper reports that to try to suppress increases in the prices of gas, elec, etc (which were caused by Abenomics QE) the gov't is going to increase the budget (i.e . issue more funny money) and subsidize the prices of the aforementioned articles.

I wonder if the Japanese market crash in August was a ‘demonstration’ initiated by ‘them’ in response to the Japanese bank decision to raise interest rates - thus disturbing the carry trade. As soon as the bank capitulated and announced it would do no more, the money appeared from nowhere to refloat Japanese stocks.

The economy in the U.S. is terrible, at least for the average person. The BLS lies then revises , take it from me I have contacts in various businesses. Here in Northern Florida things are relatively good but Florida is different. However tourism is way down . The state gov has billions in rainy day funds so we will weather it .
