My fav one is: Geralt: You smell wonderful. Yen: Geralt we're at a funeral. Geralt: You smell wonderful at this funeral. No wonder why Yen fell for him
I chose Triss because I played the first two games first, and it just made more sense for me for Geralt to be with Triss considering their recent history (and I have a thing for red-heads, what can I say). But, despite all of her flaws, Yenn is just a more interesting and well-rounded character in this game than Triss, who really doesn't do all that much in comparison to Yenn after the 1st act.
I also see that scene but I don't quite understand it ( why Geralt says yes and Yen says no) since i am not a native English speaker. Would you be so kind to explain why it's funny to me?
Yennefer tried to lie that she wasn't eavesdropping at the same time as Geralt admitted the truth, which makes it kind of funny. Also, Yennefer is usually very highly strung and to see her at such a disadvantage is quite amusing
These two are so perfect together. Geralt needs someone to challenge him, keep him on his toes, someone whom he'll never be bored with. And Yen needs someone who can match her wit and bring out her playful side, who doesn't feel the need to try and tame her prickly, unruly nature. They're made for each other.
Yep. I feel like Geralt LIKES his women powerful and commanding and sassy as fuck. Look at this chemistry. The sassier she is the more smitten he looks. And yes, I imagine that translates to the bedroom. Or, to the unicorn. Whatever. This is why I don't buy him with Triss. She's too meek. She'd bore him.
I didn't think my levels of respect for CDPR's writing could go any higher but after reading the books, it's clear they captured Yen's personality perfectly. The banter between these two were some of my favourite parts of the game. They bicker like they've been married for decades lol.
I'm 3 years late so I'm not sure if this is pointless right now but with all due respect, I believe it's the opposite and CDPR did not do Yen's character justice, particularly her relationship with Ciri. They definitely nailed the whole witty, banter side of yen but chose to dismiss a character growth towards the end of the saga and instead decided to potray her "darker side" if you will, early on in the series before she got closer to geralt and ciri. Speaking of which, as much as I don't want to think that it is, but it's clear that reason they had to dumb down their mother-daughter relationship was so Triss wouldn't seem like a total (even though she kinda still is) home wrecker in the game and thus, level out the playing field between Yen and Triss romance options. Things like Ciri trusting Avalach over Yen and barely showing her the same amount of warmth as she shows the player aka Geralt. Anyway, that's my two cents and apologies for adding a reply this late but I just felt it had to be brought up.
@@maverick608 I agree, they nailed a certain part of her personality and the voice actress is amazing but they did kind of fail to show how important she actually is to Geralt and Ciri and to the story line as a whole. Probably because they more or less wrote her out of the first two games in favor of Triss. I like Triss' portrayal in the first two games but something bothers me about her in 3, not sure what exactly it is but they changed her personality a bit.
Don Relationships where couples sweet talk each other 24/7 never last. My parent's relationship is very similar to Geralt/Yen, my mother is always super sassy and my dad is a goofball around her. They have been happily married for almost 40 years.
These videos does not show what she does the other half of the time with Geralt.... being bitchy, condescending, disrespectful, and arrogant. She has her sassy sides of course. But believe me that only a masochist would want to marry or even just date someone like Yen. People who like her either relate to her too much, or they are just blinded by her beauty or amusing scenes such as these. Its unfortunate that the game has more scenes with Yen than that of Triss, but the few scenes we saw Geralt with Triss, showed her to be someone more suitable for him. "With Yen it was fight after fight, lots of arguments, drama, not saying it was bad but... Got to be exhausting. With Triss, it's not. I finally feel...harmony. A calm. Feel like things are the way they're supposed to be". - Geralt of Rivia.
exactly. Only reason some people prefer triss is because she's a red head, has a nice rack, and is more submissive towards geralt. All things neck beard and nerds love lmao. She practically waits for geralt to just fuck her. After Geralt dies I feel like she would just find another romance and fuck him till he dies lmao. Yen and Geralt are soulmates. One doesn't exist with out the other.
QUEX T'is I, a proud neckbeard and a nerd archetype. I must inform you my fellow human being, I did pick Yennefer of Vengerberg, not Triss Merigold, on my one and only playthrough of this amazingly good polish video game as she, Yennefer of Vengerberg, is truly the one and only true love of the one and only, one of a kind Geralt of Rivia, The white wolf aka the butcher of blavikken or by short in the playboy culture you normies are so fond of, a lady killer. As informed before in my post in this particular thread, in fact the post is right this one here, you as yourself, are very wrong about me and my jolly kind and generalize me and the other proud members of the neckbeardian society to a point where we all do seem like barbaric boors, which is not favourable by the lot, my good sir. I also must inform you, good sir, that in this day and age, which is the 27th of april in 2017, generalization is viewed on par OR even worse than a rape, and even the most acclaimed and awarded feminists of the modern day, do know that rape happens EVERY one of the seconds there are in these very long days (which I just made longer for you, which I am so so sorry for) in just London, in fact you, my good sir, are propably and most likely raping me right now (federal and personal offence), which makes me inclined to turn you over to the authors and scream rape many times, over and over. I have yet to know any authors for now, my lord, but I will inform you once the awaited day, if it will ever, comes. But now my face is tired, so I must rest it and let you go on about your day if you like to do that sort of thing, my lord. And no, I didn't make this as long as it came out, just to annoy you, which I would have definetly liked to do, but because my so complex thoughts just can't simply be fitted in few and overly simplified phrases that are for the simple minded, which I'm definetly not, which I just made very clear here, because my articular skills are top notch, even though they're not. And that there is a false negative, my good sir. That brings us to topics like what in the good and very fertile, but not so long fertile mother earth am I doing and why? For that I do not have answer either, my good sir. TL;DR Don't generalize.
Yen is a spitfire and Triss is really sweet. Both are fantastic personalities that make Yen vs Triss the hardest decision in the game every time. It would be easy if Triss was like how she is in the books but she's different in the game.
@Toxicstall yeah, people talk about how yen cant get over geralt and triss fucking around and using amnesia as an excuse.but thing is,she has already gotten over it.But some people like to bring that up every chance they get.if you say Sorry instead of whining and using amnesia as an excuse she geniuenly appreciates it and says that she forgives geralt.then doesnt bring it up again
@@winstonchurchill7822 yes, it's clearly YOUR FAULT if you said or did something that Yen didn't like, so you DESEARVE to be slapped out in a lake , berated and spat on ... Yeah. EVERY WIFE BEATER'S MANTRA ... You can\t see it because she is the ABUSER and in real life it's the other way around ..
@@speedy7040 aight imma humor you. Go outside,Go up to someone and bitch about them. If you get left hook straight in your face. Then i turn out correct. Also its funny how Trisstards think yen is an abuser while Forgetting about Triss's abuse.
Billy Siravo I always expected her to add “say that” to the end of that line. Like Geralt: “You said you were going to go on 3” Yen: “I did.... say that”
@@deadlyydude5522 Not sell as in for money, but sell as in not doing anything about the lodge's plans to force Ciri into a loveless marriage with an Oferi prince despite Yennefer's continuous pleas to do something, obviously Geralt would disapprove as well
I think the thing that sells Yen in the game is the voice actress. She's actually flawless. Everything about her is flawless. Also the quests are better and more fleshed out, there's more dialogue so she shines even more. Not that Triss' actress isn't good but, the British accent hnnnng. Also... She isn't "as good," as Yen's voice actress. It makes the dialogue so much more real.
Leowulf™ Well, Yen also has more going for her. She’s snarky, has a dark sense of humor, takes no shit, but she has her soft side (just takes some time and effort to get to). Triss just seems like the stereotypical love interest in romance movies. Which is fine, but imo, snarky gf >>>> lovey dovey gf
its really impressive that Denise Gough and Doug Cockle(Voice artists for Yennefer and Geralt respectively) have never actually met, they recorded their lines separately, and were able to make the characters fit like gloves together
@@jungschiffer8423 learned alot about this just going through behind the scenes stuff through my old anime box sets. Not surprisingly, getting a whole bunch of people with varying schedules from different places (countries!) Can be a serious pain in the ass
Probs one of the most realistic couple in gaming history. Thing about Yen is she does not drool over Geralt with a drop of a hat, but rather just teases him and slaps him down, but rewards him if worked hard enough. I appreciate the devs gave us an option to romance Triss, but it's quite clear that majority of the writing was meant for Geralt and Yen. Also my favorite was: Geralt: Can't stand to be at least nicer? Yen: I suppose---but then I wouldn't be the woman you fell in love with. That is such a clever comeback from Yen, sass yet subtle. I like it.
Max Jellinek She isnt very respectful of Geralt but they are simple made for eachother. He always goes back to her, he fell in love with her BECAUSE of how she is. Plus they are both similar ages and have both been parents to Ciri(Triss calls ciri her sister which is weird). And shes incredibly focused on what she wants, regardless of how it forgets others, look at when she uses necromancy magic and upsets the inhabitants of that island to find Ciri. Shes a complete badass.
what should baffle you is when people say the hate yen. Prefering Triss is personal choice, and what you say is "I hate people for their choice". Makes no sense to me. Some like Yen, some like Triss. For their own reasons. The only people that are hard to understand for me are those that make their choice based on not liking the other choice, so please be more considerate.
You forgot the best one. At the meeting before fighting eredin, Geralt is sassy about the group starting without him. He has a line like "I'm just a simple witcher, no need to wait for me, right?" And Yen replies, "so simple, yet so many complexes." Gerald btfo
Geralt and Triss feels like a highschool couple. Fresh, sweet and still learning to know another to the core. Geralt and Yen feel like parents manage to raise a child and now seek new challenges. Which means mainly annoying another or wild sex.
This is why I always choose Yen over Triss. Geralt and Triss is a more traditional romance, which is fine, but Yen's sassiness combined with Geralt's grumpiness make them a perfect fit IMO.
Yen > Triss all the way Triss just seems so fake and not mature enough. More like a highschool relationship than a proper one. The Blood and Wine ending with Yen is fantastic.
Personally I like Triss the better, BUT Geralt and Yen make the better couple. They just seem more true to themselves when they are together, permanently having fun, very flirty and confident. It's plain to see. I love Triss, but choosing her feels like letting go of the Witcher to get to the man that Geralt is, and wants to be: tender, loving, supportive, commited, good. A father and a husband, through and through. Whereas choosing Yen feels like embracing everything that Geralt is, the man, the lover, the Witcher, without a second guess. It's a great choice, and one you never regret, no matter what you choose.
The one that had me dying was Geralt: What was that? Yen: Unicorns! (in a sarcastic way) Geralt: DAMMIT YEN I SAW THE FOGLETS LOOOOL Yen's sass cracks me up soo much
Geralt: "You smell wonderful" Yennefer: "Geralt, we're at a funeral." Geralt: "...you smell wonderful *at this funeral* " God damn I love his awkward compliments
You could make a similar compilation of Yennefer being compassionate and caring (in the midst of being snarky and deviltongued). A really well written character with a good amount of depth.
This is the most accurate and realistic video game romantic relationship Iv ever seen. It’s like they wrote this following a married couple around for a couple years.
They're like an old married couple, honestly. And considering they're both in their triple digits it makes sense. It's easy to get fooled by the Romance Novel Front Cover-tier aesthetics.
3:56 definitely one of my favorite moments. Geralt hates portals, everyone knows that, but with another person he'll probably gonna say that with his usual rough and dry tone, not pouting like a kid like when he's with Yen 😂
Their banter is so like me and my boyfriend, I find it very much real and relatable. We are in a long term relantionship and we know that things aren't all sweet and loving all the time. And that's okay, because we love each other regardless of sometimes wanting to punch each other in the face.
haha aaww... even though i'm a dude I gotta admit Gerald and ice queen jennefer are so cute together! lol to bad they removed the cooking scene from kaher Morhen or how it's supposd to be spelled now... that was pretty cute too.
Sapowski said explicitly that he wanted to create a female character that isn’t a typical damsel in distress or someone who is just a side kick for Geralt. She has her own agenda and she’s her own person. Sometimes she uses Geralt for her own purposes. She doesn’t follow Geralt around and just tag along with whatever he’s doing. She’s intense and independent and loving and kind, but also very tough and intimidating when she needs to be.
It is very hard to keep the balance though, and the game balance between "hilarious and admirable wit" and "right out rude and too harsh" sometimes is off. I understand the intention to have an unconventionally strong female character in a medieval story countering the protagonist. And I really like the idea, Yennefer definitely is fascinating and never boring. However, she's tiring at times. Having Geralt commanded around like a pet and her always edgy semi-insults, her belittling, for no apparent reason often goes too far for my liking. Sometimes he looks like a total fool beside her and not in a good way. I started to feel sorry for him for his silly obsession for her. I read the books, BTW, and didn't like her there for 2 books, the character felt over-the-top and psychopathic. From 3rd book on she started to grow on me more. The game slightly overemphasized her snarky, rude personality traits for me which she has 100% of the time in the first books, but in the Saga later on not so much. And in the books she at least always had a reason to be snappy with him, because everytime she was he HAD acted like a fool and deserved it. But in the game he often got told off for caring, for showing compassion, for trying to be useful. Didn't like it.
