i was 16 yo in 1983 when i came across this movie trailer in the theatre, but didn't understand what it was about. Only know that Barbra Streisand was famous then. After seeing it again almost 40 yrs later, then i realise its meaning.
Only watching trailer still gives me chill after all these years! This movie resonates me so much as a boy secretly in love with other boy at my young age... I could feel her love for Avigdor as I was in her character in real life (also Mandy was so handsome in the movie)... if you get what I mean. This movie is on my top list, it really means something to me!
Is there something odd about a big booming male voice saying "She was born in a time when the world of study belonged only to men." Was there ever a woman's voice for a trailer VO?
Aa q pelicula tan.buenisima me gusto mucho la trama no sexo no sangre no violemcia estas son las peliculas q me gustan yo casi no veo peliculas . ..esta de todo mi agrado muchas gracias
Yentl won the Oscar for Best Original Score and 2 Golden Globes for Best Musical Film & Best Director for Barbra Streisand. But it was also the target of the Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) giving it 3 nominations for Worst Musical Score, Amy Irving for Worst Supporting Actress (she also got an Oscar nomination for the role) and Streisand for, get this, Worst Actor
Do they still have the "Razzies?" It's too bad they trashed "Yentl." It was so unfair to Barbra, Amy Irving, Mandy Patinkin, composer Michel Legrand, and everyone else who contributed to this movie.
This was such a common occurrence back then, of course they tried to disguise. For movie purposes why do so if the actor hast spent years perfecting it to not look foolish.
S/o to movies where the protagonist disguises themselves as the opposite gender to achieve an objective... She's the Man, Tootsie, Yentl, Mrs Doubtfire... one of my favorite categories ;P
Interesting, I don't think I know anything at all about her politics, I assumed she was probably pretty boring down the middle like many celebrities. What makes them loathsome in your opinion?
The twist at the end is when her love interest confides in her that he’s gay. The audience then realized that it’s a musical, so it’s required that there’s at least one gay person in it.
The only time l ever loved a chick flick. They could remake this with seth rogen l mean look at that cool arty pickle movie he recently did.Perfect fit!!
И волки сыты и овцы целы..Как такое вообще могло кому то в голову прийти? И лейсбийские и прочие проблемы решены ..Ловко..Актеры известнын ,остальное вранье всё и бред.
