I love how the Band Geeks capture the sounds and parts created by the musicians in Yes' history. Because the Geeks ARE such good players, I suspect they would agree that creating such timeless music is every bit as laudable as Jon's voice, melodies and lyrics.
Yes. I have a ticket to see them. Thanks for letting me know though. I'm like a big kid, so excited about seeing them. Just seen that Yes have cancelled there UK tour, until 2024 ? Well if any of the band members need replacing because they are not well, there are plenty of good Geek musicians, Replace Steve, see how he likes it. Couldn't stop myself from saying that, even though I wouldn't wish anything bad to happen to any of them x
naw.. its Anderson n a tribute band.. although they are an outstanding band. There's no yes without Chris...but id rather watch this than other versions.
Would love Jon to play in the UK also. But Jon isn't Young anymore , and with all the restrictions on Travel lately, can understand why Jon hasn't been to the UK.
I realize Jon Anderson is 78 years old now, but if there is a God in Heaven he will surely bless this union of incredible talent with a live tour. The enthusiasm in the music performance almost brought tears to my eyes. YES at the top of their talent. They sound the way YES was meant to be heard. Jon Anderson is one of the greatest, distinctive lead vocalists in modern music history. The LOVE, attention to detail, and energy of the Band Geeks represents YES music as it has always meant to be heard. Thank you for this video. It gave me goosebumps.
Absolutely agree Colin. So good to see Jon enjoying himself, shining, and still playing Yes music. To think that 25 yrs ago Jon was unwell and could have died. To then be told that Yes had replaced him, Myself and many other Jon lover's, truly felt that hurt. But you bounced back, Proud of you like a mother would be 💙👍
As a long time Yes fan with many Yes shows behind me I’ve got to say that I have no interest in seeing the current Yes band, but I would definitely love to see this show!
Go Jon!!! That kid has nothing on you... Kinda like, Journey..... anyone can sing the words... But,you created them. Big difference being an artist and a parrot!
Wow-We have great Yes music from Jon Anderson! Timeless and long overdue. Very uplifting with great musicianship. This is how Yes should be in 2022 and beyond. Steve Howe you don’t know what your missing my friend.
@@theworldaccordingtopeteman6876 It's a disgrace Steve has lost it, and his disrespect when Alan White died was disgraceful, he had a replacement drummer in a few days, disposable band members.
@@Iain1962 Yep - I could have not stated this any better. I met Steve Howe in 2010. Very cold and aloof. Didn't seem to have any empathy for anyone, especially when I brought up Jon Anderson and his illness at the time. I think he's gotten worse as ages.
@@Iain1962 I mean, that's not really fair. Jay Schellen had been filling for Alan for literally years before Alan passed away. It was a completely logical chain of events to just bring in Jay full time at that point. Won't disagree with anything else, haven't enjoyed the current Yes live for many years.
@@andrewwilliams8587 Not really fair? Ok well let's compare a couple. I also love Rush, when their drummer died they retired completely, in fact the only time they have played since was for Taylor Hawkins tribute, another drummer that died and his band after the tribute concerts has taken a year off. Steve was out playing gigs within a week or two with a replacement. So I think it is justified. Is he really that desperate for money? Surely he must be well enough off to show some respect.
Thank you Jon,so much for giving me such uplifting joy and happiness. With your amazing, pure vocal talents!! I know people have told you that for years I'm sure. But your songs and voice have really given me encouragement thur out my life. Thank you Brother!
Melvin, I love your words . I have said , If i could, I would like to leave this earth hearing Close to the Edge as i take my last breath! I love it so much i get tears!
They should definitely go on tour. Much better than the 'YES' lineup touring at the moment! That was pretty much perfect, and Jon's voice......sublime!
I was not there , but I know Jon would have nothing but the best sound, and a performance of perfection . Unlike the disappointing YES that I recently seen live.
I hope that it isn't the last tour. We still haven't had "Anderson-Wakeman Part 2," or the promised tour with the whole "Olias" album live, or a tour for "Zamran," or ...
@@cheryl9423 wow! Paul McCartney still going strong at eighty. I was hiking along the PCT the other month and hiked with a very healthy 80 year old and ran into a couple other octogenarians many miles into the forested trail. I was both impressed and encouraged by these individuals.
How he has kept his voice to sing in the same key and with as much soul, sincerity and drama as he has, makes me believe that if there is a God, he is a Jon Anderson fan.
Did they keep Jon's voice in a time capsule or something like that? Amazing how well his has aged (or rather hardly at all). When I close my eyes I hear the Classic Yes, which is of course also a tremendous compliment to the band.
@@paulstibora1123 yeah, I gave up listening to classical music when I realised all those orchestras were just glorified cover bands. I think this is slightly more than that as Jon anderson, arguably the one uncoverable element of yes, is singing with them.
@@gerardodoherty9178 like Yes official or not they have toured and are on the way to releasing their 4th lp since Chris booted Jon and he sold the rights to the franchise. I will see both bands and enjoy myself but this is a cover band period.
I've been following The Band Geeks for a long time and always thought how great it would be if Jon discovered them and actually sang with them. Wish granted.☝😀
I've long watched Band Geek's stunning Yes covers and wondered what Jon would think of them, so this is like a dream come true! I couldn't be happier for the Geeks and Jon for this wonderful collaboration and tour, I hope this leads to a huge revival!
Each of these melodic moments were musical guides for over 50 years of my life. Even more profound is the feeling and knowing that the magic of music life and love is real. I believe each Yes member served as a muse for Jon’s work. The periods of time for example when he and Steve navigated the Topographic Oceans and synchronicity led them to open doors that were truly messages from a higher universal power. The peak synchro of Going for the One when they gelled as a unit for one last glorious effort. Whatever one’s feelings are as to the whys and hows of the creation of this music, one factor is present throughout; FAITH. And I for one enjoyed a half century of a group of Englishman trying to explain faith in the universe with their music. Thank you, thank you, with all of the turbulent human factors aside, for these volumes of musical magic that brought us tears of joy so many times. “There’s no doubt. No doubt.”
It sounds like most fans think THIS sounds more like Yes than that joke calling itself Yes out there , right now , I’d see this group with Jon and enjoy the Real sound any day !
I'm thankful every day that Jon is with us keeping the Yes songbook alive and creating new musical gems- and he still tours!! Xennial Yes / Jon Anderson fans have a lot to be grateful for!💖
@Jeremy Spade nothing involving Geoff Downes has ever been remotely great. I’ve heard the live releases from that. They were awful - like every show Yes has played post Anderson.
Going to see this collaboration twice in April (16,28)! I can’t wait for this! These musicians are amazing and together with Mr Jon Anderson and his beautiful voice,it’s a must see 🙏!
@Jeremy Spade Drama was the first YES I heard back when it was released and I like it a lot indeed! BUT Trevor Horn can not touch Jon Anderson vocally IMO. Some of the live stuff from that tour supports that Trevor Horn’s vocals are limited at best. Jon Davison even far surpasses Trevor Horn … again … IMO. In spite of that…. Whenever I go on a road trip … Drama is first up on my playlist.
Damn! That sounds incredible! Wow. It’s like Yes is alive again. Wish I could afford to see this epic. Guys this is an absolute 10 musically. I applaud you.
Wow! Dear Jon... I can't believe you are still hitting ALL those high notes! You are just phenomenal... Damn... What a blast hearing your voice again...
Finally, a real YES band ! All due respect to Steve Howe & Alan White (R.I.P.), but c'mon; YES without Jon (as he's still alive and sounding fantastic) just doesn't cut it !!
J.B. You got the right note here. For any true long term Yes fan, it is instantly obvious that the Yes DNA is Jon's angelic voice. Impersonators like Jon Davidson can pretend to mimic Jon Anderson's voice, but they will never mimic Jon Anderson's soul. It's really that simple. When Jon is gone from this lowly 3rd dimension, Yes will live on through the recording and others who play and sing the songs. One person can change the world because sound, music and voice has that Power. Higher Vibration go one
Steve should play with Jon. I just saw Steve and a bunch of other guys for the Close to the Edge tour, in Tokyo. It was awesome, but felt a little bit less than Yes. I agree, I really want Jon on vocals.
@Jeremy Spade Truth is, I am happy to see even a cover band playing songs I love, if the band is good. Add in 1-2 original members and it's even better! Classical music and opera are always played by different artists and that makes it even more interesting since nobody does it the same way.
@Jeremy Spade Jon Anderson agrees with you! He calls his backing band a cover band. In any case, I am happy enough to hear them. I've heard Jon solo also - that was wonderful too.
We need some tour dates that a guy from Redding, California can drive to!!! San Fran/Portland/Reno/San Jose. Also, congratulations to The Band Geeks for getting to play with Jon!!! You earned it by learning the catalog. Totally respect the effort and your great musicianship.
Please please please come do a concert in St George UT, we have a super COOL young retirement community, you could play at our Red Rocks tuacahn amphitheater under the stars (just don't come in summer because it's too HOT lol). It's not a huge venue, but if you sell out too fast you can add another night. We have amazing natural beauty out here, you could enjoy Zion national park. Please please please come!!!!!! ❤
This is very exciting. Too bad I'm in Australia - but well done Band Geeks on the tour with Jon - and thank you Jon for keeping the music alive with your sensational voice.
Damn, this sounds great! I've been enjoying Rich Castellano's work as a guitarist, keyboardist, and singer on stage with Blue Oyster Cult for the last couple of years. I didn't know he produced and knew all the Chris Squire lines too.
Mestre Jon Anderson, premiando a gente com sua voz inigualável , descobri o YES na década de 1970 e não me canso de ouvir. Daqui de Sorocaba São Paulo um abraço de seu fã . Saúde e Paz para todos.
At 2:53 Peter Capusotto surprised me on keyboards. Amazing!!! No joke, this is what every Yes nerd dreamed of. Thanks Band Geeks for all your hard work.
Please please please come to the south!! At least to Memphis or Nashville! I want to see you guys. Sounds amazing! I’d be taking off work if I saw a date come up.
Yes! This is Great ! Sounds So Nice ! Please, Please, Please ! Everybody grab tix as soon as possible.., More shows needed. Indianapolis is ready. I will personally send this teaser out to Everyone of us... ~~ #Yes Fans Awaken ! ~
Bravo Geeks! ... you must have to pinch yourselves every morning to check if you're awake? Great and faithful sound, excellent, you are a very talented bunch. Look after Jon!
This is going to be an amazing tour. Jon's voice is so clear and incredible and the Band Geeks are fantastic! It is sad that no west coast shows have been booked yet (come on agents). I keep hoping for the best. I miss Jon live.
Outstanding ! Simply outstanding. By all measure, YES is reborn with the "Geeks" with Jon Anderson in the right place. I must catch this presentation live if it gets anywhere near me. My thanks to you all ! ! !
There's a little perfection for ya.. am I listening to the album !!!! Jon is in perfect voice!!! Nothing short of miraculous. This is the hottest ticket in music
