Audio Quality: A
Mid way through the first North American tour leg on the Relayer tour, the band put in another amazing show. Taped by the infamous Freezer, this is one of the best tapes (albeit a very compressed tape) of the year. Alan is a beast during Close To The Edge, doing fast drumming all over the place, creative drumming all over the place aswell, Patrick is especially creative during the Roundabout solo, Steve is doing insane guitar work during And You And I, Ritual, and Roundabout, playing with tight precision. and Jon is in great shape as per usual. It seems that during Ritual, Patrick has a hard time using his electric piano, so he is forced to used the keyboard behind the electric piano. Besides that, a great show that is so much worth your time.

Oh God!! What a set-list!!! Well, the first timeI saw this awesome Band was at "The Beat Club", March 1969,London, and immediately touched depths of my Soul, and Heart, as human, and musician. Yes, you can to be musician, and not human;)..So, I always followed YES on all the long tours around the world, wheneven financially possible. This Tour represent, for me, The Pinacle of The Art of Music, Art of Sound according to YES, Classic of The Future and still ahead of ils time, even today. Furious versions of all the songs of the set-list, but this Recording is know for the excellence of Jon, Steve, Patrick, Alan and Chris, especially on this evening, and the very good captation of Sound. Thank's so, so much for sharing this precious Recording, a indiscutable testimony that Humanity is capable of generosity, love and Beauty, and that these essential values are indispensable in the lives of everyone on this planet called "Earth"... Take care of you, people!!

It was a special time in our lives, for some of us. Magical, even, and I mean that quite literally. There was a wonderful connection that happened if you plugged directly into the Yes ouvre & mantra that I've never felt otherwise. And some very special things happened to me because of it. 🙏🏻🌠🌌

Ladies and gentlemen Chris Squire and Yes the greatest show on earth. This tour was my first to see Squire and his band. I was so impressed I saw Chris 35 more times over the next 40 yrs. RIP CHRIS 👑

I was at this show ,second time seeing them. First time September of 72 in New Orleans,i was 16. Been listening to the beautiful music of YES !!

First time I saw them here. Was very disappointed cause we decided to go late and ended up in the nose bleed section. But saw them again in the New Orleans MA in 1977. We got there early and near the speakers. This time Rick Wakeman was there and it sounded a LOT better from where we were. There is also a sound stream on YT with that one too. Check out Kansas audio stream on YT in the New Orleans MA March 23, 1976. Great recording. That was a great double header with Bad Company too but no recording of them with Kansas. Cost us only $7 each for tickets. Talk about best bang for your buck!

These recordings are precious. Thanks a lot for this. Went to see them, 4 times during the Tales tour, 1973 in the UK.

The band at their Peak in my opinion. WIth Moraz it is arguable - this tour could. be it too, or 73-75, but 76 was killer. Yes is my favorite band (along with Wishbone Ash and Moody Blues - all in one!)

I saw them 3 nights in a row on that tour. 2 in Chicago and 3rd in St Louis. Never any bad versions of YES in the 70s.That was their most free and creative period. I am grateful for the things they did with Moraz which never could have happened with Rick.

Considerado o melhor álbum dos anos 70, Close To The Edge é uma obra prima da banda Yes, todos álbuns são ótimos, mas este supera todos, viva o genial Jon Anderson, que compôs a maioria das músicas !

I was at this show and recorded it as well (although my version is not as good as this one). This recording is by the taper known as Freezer who passed away several years ago.

Why the FUCK is Ritual's volume so low compared to the rest of this recording?! Favorite Yes song got nerfed so hard in capturing this incredible once in a lifetime concert. Aye it is such a great set and my mouth is watering for Ritual to come up as it is my most cherished of theirs and it is like 50% quieter WTF anyways 10/10 concert wish i were alive to see it. was named after trevor rabin ffs

What’s the story behind freezer?
@yesbootlegs
@yesbootlegs 2 года назад
It’s a long one, and when I mean long, I mean *very* long. If I recall correctly, there’s a thread on The Trader’s Den which would help explain things. I’ll have to find it though.

@greysonwilson4164 2 года назад
Appreciate it! I assume it’s a situation similar to Mike Millard’s, the guy who faked a handicap in order to hide all of his recording equipment in his wheelchair to tape Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd shows. I’ll research the story on trader’s den though. Cheers!

@@greysonwilson4164 Freezer was basically the Gulf Coast version of Mike Millard ( they knew one another)...if the act played Louisiana or along the Gulf Coast in the 70s, chances are Freezer taped them.

In Close to the edge, Alan White destroys the original groove, and plays too continually his cymbals
@yesbootlegs

It can be good though, Long Beach 1977 is a good example of how good he can be at playing the song.

@smabass2913 2 года назад
White plays his era songs wonderfully but dumbs down most all of Buford's work, he just wasn't a good imitator of "The Great One". That being said, he created wonderful drum lines with YES over the years, especially DRAMA!
